I dont know if this has only happened to me, but two times in a row after exiting out of a race, the loading dial turned red and I had to reset the PS2 because the screen would not change. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me?

I have had to reset the PS2 once in about 10,000 miles of racing, and it is an old model with a mod chip. So i am content with its performance as long as it doesn't screw up while its autosaving. :scared:

I've had this happen only once since I got GT4, and has not given me any problems since.

I got a new PS2 last year as soon as I heard that they were going to replace it with the slim one. I was able to get one of the very last bigger sized ones w/ the network adaptor included. The loading times are sooooo much faster than on my original PS2 and it has never overheated even when I leave it on for 3 or 4 days on B-spec!!!!!

It's strange how it freezes after you get into the game. From my experience most DRE's are seen when you try to boot the game for the first time.

my old PS2 (the big fat one) was really dusty on the inside, and dust got on the laser eye dealy a lot, so when i first got GT4, it wouldn't even read it! talk about frustrating. then, i went and bought a slim PS2 and enjoyed GT4. so its probably all yous guyses PS2's.

This happened to me once, I took the disc out really quick then cleaned it and put it back in and it loaded perfect, never happened again. I have only taken GT4 out of my ps2 twice since I bought it 3 days after it came out lol, actually I only bought my PS2 for GT3 and 4.

open it and clean the dust out... dun even need to take apart the laser module...
will help the read error problem significantly....

if u'r brave enough u can clean the lens too but i dun wanna screw mine up so i just left it...

my ver. 9 PS2 is so used that it can freeze if i run backupgames made on cheap disc's.
but i never had any problems with Orginals... not even GT3 or GT4 witch are my most used disc's GT3 is anyways .. GT4 is gettin there even after a few weaks =)

this has only happend to me once when i went to Like The Wind race with the F1 and it just didn't load, i was really unfortunate right before that i had done all the 10 championship races in profesional, really got me mad had to do them all over, didn't save.

now that i think about it thats the only time that i have opened my ps2 tray in 2 months!

Mine started doing that too after I punched it. If you`re gonna punch a PS2, you should turn it off first. Hope that helps.

Haha, quote worthy. I havent had any DRE's yet and mine is real old.

The red symbol of doom, that's all i ever get :grumpy: i found that if you ejected the disc and closed it again quickly it would sometimes find it's feet again, then continue to load. But most of the time i would go to the corner of the room, sit down and start rocking.

Thankfully i have stole......borrowed a freinds PS2 for the forseeable future :trouble:

It happens a lot of the time with me! My PS2 is quite old so I can understand.

TIP: I worked this out. If you get the red load thing, press the disc tray button and the disc will slide out. (DON'T RESET IT). Notice that the red thing on the screen still spins. (The PS2 has backing storage RAM in it and it doesn't need the disc for everything). Then, pickup the disc, make sure there are no marks or dust etc on it then put it back in and close the disc tray.
The PS2 will probably make a funny noise (nothing bad) then it will find the original place it was at, then load it, and YAY! It works again.
If it doesn't work first time, keep on trying. IT WILL WORK. 👍

Also, try and buy a lens cleaner for your PS2 or, do it yourself! (Take the PS2 apart and clean it) - careful though!.

Hope this helps.

Yes, this has happened to me. It happened because I opened the CD tray on accident. :scared: I closed back up quickly while it was loading. It turned red but after about a minute, it returned back to the race screen - I was lucky. Mabye you didn't wait long enough.

I took my PS2 apart and cleaned it but it all fell apart! 👎 👎 I had to take it to a repair shop and it cost me 60 bucks :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: !!!

i get the same red clock, and the same thing happens for me in grand theft auto. i just open the tray [on the slim ps2] and close it, nothing else, and that works.

Its happened to me twice, both times after playing the game for awhile and just when I'm loading into a track. I think its a game error too, just because I've never had a problem with my ps2 when playing rpg's (rack up more hours on them then gt4), gt3, Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, etc, etc, etc.

never happend to me but i have sent my ps2 to sony a while back around vice citys release cause i remember i had just got to the second city, was about to save and , freeze so sent it to sony they fixed it for free and has worked almost perfectly sence, the only problem is it takes a while to initially read the disk like it goes into where you can choose browser on the ps2

I was Doing The Nurb 4 Hour Enduro, And a Mate, pressed the tray out button,
i hastily put it back in, and the race just resumed, there was a slight pause, but other than that, it was fine.

Tm 👍
