Games get made many days before they finally get to the retailers and put on the shelf on release day. And they sure don't move from their point of creation to there by robots. (I think, anyways)
Retailers probably have strict agreements to not release anything early, so if any retailers release widespread it would likely lead to fines or something.
Maybe some smallish shop in some corner of the world gets a bunch of copies a week early, but can easily say anybody with the game got it from any number of stores around the same area, gives copies out to whoever wants em. Or somebody who delivers these games knows the shop owner, and sets something up. Tons of stores and people in the world that come across games before they get to consumers, I'd imagine.
Mine ships on the 26th and will arrive in 3-5 business days because I wasn't willing to pay for next-day-air shipping.
The cool thing about living in Alaska is that standard ground shipping is just as fast as two-day air... they ship the stuff up on a plane anyway to avoid Canadian customs or something like that. At least that's what I've been told.
Got my collectors edition in the mail on saturday. unfortunatly I've been working night shifts all weekend, just got home an hour ago, so I've only been able to play like 4 hours. Also i have a 6 page assignement at the university due at four o clock wednesday... I actually whish it would have come on release day instead, now I have to resist the temptation of playing too much the next couple of days...

switzerland sells it since today too.. i proceed to level 7 in 3 hours.. tomorow i'm not going to work ! i guess a lot of game shops sell it because all the freaks want to get it now or never..
