Just dusted off my copy of GT4 and started again (playing it properly this time).
These questions have all been asked before but it’ll take me an age to get all these simple answers, by searching.
All I need is for someone to give me a simple yes or no (left or right) for each of the questions, as the more I think about it the more confused I make myself!

Spring rate –
Left to stiffen or right?

Damper bound –
Left to stiffen or right?

Damper rebound –
Left to stiffen or right?

Stabilizers –
Left to stiffen or right?

Break balance –
Left or right to apply more breaking power?

Ballast –
Left to the rear or right?

Toe –
Left or right to get the leading part of the wheel to point outwards?

Many thanks for anyone willing to help.
Stu.

Spring rate: the higher the number, the harder the spring is.

Damper Bound:Same as above.

Damper Rebound: Same as above.

Stabilizer:Same as above.

Break is wtong, it should be Brake. Many people get these two mixed up.

Brake Balance: Same as above.

Ballast: Left to the front and Right to the rear. (this is so obvious :dunce: )

Toe:Left to get the tire pointing inward and Right to get the tire pointing outward.

This should help clear things up a bit. :)

Actually, going left is going into negative toe, and negative toe is toe out, which the tire's pointing outward. And the opposite goes for going right, into positive toe, with the tire pointing inwards.

Sorry, cause im a little confused with this.

We all are, see the sticky 'Official Alignments' thread. Nobody's figured out GT4 toe yet, so leave it alone :P

As Ske said, this is still debatable. You can make a case for negative toe being "toe out", and you can make a case for it being "toe in".

In RL in Japan, negative toe generally seems to mean "toe in". Many are convinced PD follows that standard. However, it may actually vary from manufacturer-to-manufacturer:

Its really infuriating that with all the stuff PD crammed into GT4, they somehow couldn't be bothered with including simple little graphics in the setup screen that show what the adjustments actually do. Guess they were too busy modelling all those Skylines...

D'oh! Schoolboy error :dopey: :)

wtong is wrong too ;o)

Cheers for the replies, 👍

Wrong! 👎 When you adjust your brakes, you are jsut adjusting the ABS, the higher it is front the less your steering will lock. Same for rear. It doesn't make the brakes stronger, it makes them more effective at using.

an interesting interpretation - i wonder what Scaff would say on this...

Definitely interesting, got anything to back it up? That would certainly suggest that front bias could work wonders for drift cars...

Nope. That's not what I've seen at all. Higher number equals greater tendency to lock for me. Example: Some Le Mans cars will easily lock up and swap ends at the end of the Sarthe straight with too much rear brake. Go to a 4/2 or 5/1 brake balance and you can just stand on the brakes with no fear.

Brake "balance" is just that, balance. It requires fine tuning to get the handling effect your style requires. Too much rear as you guys said causes oversteer into turns, but on the flipside, too much front gives you understeer turning.
Personally, depending on the car I give the rear 1 or 2 clicks above the front to induce a little oversteer on the understeering or stiff setups. However, as with Le Mans and most other MR cars I typically wind up even or maybe 1 click higher in the front.
As for the ABS thing above, nope don't think so. Higher number=stronger
So, tune, until "balance" is found.

i fiddled around and negative-toe (left) is toe-out... positive-toe (right) is toe-in... hope that helps... 👍
