I'm about at wit's end here with GT6. I've gathered enough interest and drive to play the game some more now. And i'm working on some tunes for my GT-R. Then i notice something... I'll change a part on one tune, and that single change takes affect on all three tunes simultaneously.

For example. I'm tuning Tune A. Let's say everything's jacked up 100%. I'm going for top end power. Then i decide to switch the Engine Tuning from 3 - to 2. It'll change to 2 for ALL THREE Tune sheets.

I'm about to put my GT6 disc in a hydraulic press. I'm about to soil myself in Kazunori Yamauchi's pillowcase.

If i'm over-reacting, and there's a perfectly explainable rationale for this, sorry. But for now. This seems like yet another BS bug that's POPPED UP because of the last patch. First i nearly go postal after GT6's launch because the exhaust notes of your car changes when you enter a race (since fixed from the looks of it...?). NOW, this? This was working fine before.

What's going on? Is this an acknowledged bug? Is a fix in the works...? I hope so... Then again, another patch might create another bug, also! YAAAAY, gaming industry today! YEAH BABY!

It's not a bug, it was intended that way. It goes for engine stages, weight reduction, and aero parts if I'm not mistaken.

There is nice explanation on tabs for engine power and weight reduction , when you're in car settings menu > A,B,C common. :D

Why is it so ? Ask PD , but if my memory serves me well in previous GTs you could not even reverse those settings (engine power/wr) when once done ,so now there is at least option to do it "on the fly". :D

What possible use could there be for such a 'feature'?

Think that's bad? I'm not online and don't care to do so in the near future. Maybe there was a patch to fix it but discs shouldn't be released from the git go with bugs as obvious as these...

Non ABC (engine and weight reduction) tunes and their tab names are copied across all tabs for the car.

Custom wheel installation causes tires to appear 'skinnied'.

Switching tunes (tab selection) while at the track makes the car appear to be 'blued'.

The auto pilot crashes and damages the car when exiting the pit.

Any of these oversights can render your game save useless. And then you have to spend an hour or so fixing your garage and redoing whatever races you lost.

It's obvious Sony, PD and Kaz take no pride in releasing quality product. The least they should do is issue a recall. Better yet, new discs should not be released without the version updates.

There's plenty of folks like me out there that play AND ENJOY the game offline. But the prompt 'BUCK YOU!' when WE make the mistake of forgetting what causes these dreadful time consuming file corruptions is a spit in the eye and kick to the nuts for those of us who dare(?) to play GT off the grid.

For a country or people who are viewed by the rest of the world as being honorable... the folks responsible for GT should be ashamed of themselves. It's like selling new Cadillacs in the 70s all over again.

You mustn't have touched GT6 in a long time. Almost all those got fixed Jan/Feb IIRC.

In GT5 they were permanent alterations to the car, not tuning. If you wanted versions of a car with different weight reductions, for example, you had to buy two cars. In GT6 they added the option to remove the alteration, but it is global, not specific to a tuning sheet. It sort of makes sense in a muddled PD way and it removes the need to buy several cars of the same model, but it ends up being more confusing because you have to remember which modifications apply to which tuning sheet. I usually just buy another car anyway because I'm easily confused.

ETA - I think it's been like this from the beginning.

Read.

It could possibly be to ensure that the changes you make to one setup are made to the others so that there is no doubt about which spec. you're at.

I don't see how that would be beneficial.

I think what some people are trying to say; on events with certain restrictions, it stops you from switching to a settings sheet which has higher PP then the event allows and that you originally entered the event with, within the restrictions.

If anyone remembers the bug on GT5 that allowed players to paint stock wheels, by going from a tuning sheet with paintable aftermarket wheels, to a tuning sheet that had stock wheels applied. The game didn't recognise the change that the newly applied wheels shouldn't be painted, and that is what allowed the bug. I guess it is just how they have programmed the different tuning sheets in the game; they aren't recognised by PP restrictions. So in PD kind of warped way - it makes sense.

Hope you understand me.

A feature, from the same people who thought it wise to limit you to only three tuning sheets.

I'm hardly surprised.

Are you guys serious? I thought It'd be a specific set of gearbox ratios that carried over, or a downforce or suspension adjustment?

It's a set of three tick boxes.

'bug', 'glitch', 'RIDICULOUS', come on people. Just change one of the tickboxes when you switch tune sheets.

I did, I was informing him that they had indeed been fixed a while ago (if he were to be interested at all).
Your first line was saying that he mustn't have touched GT6 in a long time, whereas he indicates that he is not online and he is running an un-patched game, which makes your comment a tad irrelevant.

To his situation, yes, but I was just reassuring him that those things were indeed now fixed.

Sorry if off topic/irrelevant.

The game tells you if you go over the PP limit while switching parts though.

Nobody said it was hard.

On the other hand, it is a baffling design decision not to save all parts with the tune they're designed for. Just like it's a baffling decision to only allow the player to save a limited (and low) number of tunes.

Yes, but what I am saying is, that it allows you to enter an event within restrictions, but switching tune sheets is not switching parts. Well it is, but not in the same way, you are just clicking a different tab rather than scrolling or selecting a part. It probably accesses the data in a different way. Probably because the performance figures are just based on numbers and parameters rather than programming different physics for each different tune part. The reason I believe this is, because the switch between tune sheets is instantaneous, without any loading time (on my PS3 at least). So to stop people from changing to a tuning sheet that is higher than limit - when in the pre race screen - they have added a fail safe where all tune items that effect the PP are represented in all 3 tune sheets, because it doesn't effect your suspension settings if they are set differently for all three tune sheets, which in turn, don't effect the PP points, which is an indication to me.

If you compare it to Forza 4 (The only Forza I have played), you can't just switch to a different tune with a simple click like GT5 & 6. You have to access the hard drive to load a tune and that takes a few seconds and it informs you if you can't load a tune because it exceeds the car class limitation (Forza's version of GT's PP limits). Just to make clear, I am not saying that Forza's tuning is more authentic - even though it is more indepth. Just that they might be programmed and calculated in a different manor.

Of course this is just my opinion. But the instant switch between tune sheets without any load times or sounds, and the fact it only effects PP related tune parts and not others makes me believe this to be true.

Solid HSV! It's good to hear that they're fixing these bugs. Thinking of trying to use a flash drive save to use at a friend's house to get the upgrades. Don't know if it would work.

Worst part of engine stage installations and de installing breaks your custom tuned gearboxes, 4/5 times there is some gears which engine stage changes modifies, and of you don't have external backup of tune (picture/paper/backup savegame) you'll never get it same again.

I remember engine and weight mods in GT5 being permanent. And it made sense: you can't un-bore an engine block or un-cut holes in a chassis. As it is now it makes little sense, tho.

I also remember in real life I can't press a button and teleport myself from my living room to the race track. Since you don't really have an engine block or a chassis, just bits and bytes representing one, the ability to undo modifications that don't really exist to begin with makes perfect sense to me.

I didn't imply that the fact that it was somewhat realistic also made it a good idea. It was by any means stupid; but it had some basis in reality, while the system we have now is idiotic with no excuse, being just a kick in the player's balls with no attempt made to justify it.
