It's a good thing you're not a betting man because you'd be broke:lol:
I got the day's mixed up I shouldn't of never said anything. I was never 100% and I try to say that. This only thing I said or wanted to say was after the 3 seasonal races are up the be a update to remove them and mybe add more thats all.

A sound update will never, ever come without a big build up. It'll be announced, it'd be an absolutely huge update if it were to go ahead.

Which is a little sad when you think about it: "hey guys, we have competent sounds now, just like... well, every one of our competitors!"

I don't expect sounds to ever be seriously upgraded in GT6's life. It's too bad, because the sound engine is still an excellent achievement, it's just ruined by lousy samples.

I think it would also be too physically big for GT6. It'd kill PS3s.

I downloaded the 15 gb digital copy of gt6 in 3 hours. I'll be fine.

Assuming it's just new samples (and isn't needed for all 1200 cars, thanks to duplicates and a handful of cars already being more than acceptable), it shouldn't be any larger than some of the updates we've already seen from GT's 5 and 6.

I'm not sure. It's never simple with PD.

Wouldn't this update simply overwrite old audio data, therefore not taking up nearly as much space as it would otherwise?

I have little hope that there will ever be huge improvements to the game. They said (a large number of) the standard cars would be upgraded to premiums in GT5, but that never happened. In fact, most of those standard cars are still standard in GT6 (what other racing game has cars that aren't all up to par with each other anyway?). With the ability to patch console games, many developers have become lazy, releasing unfinished games. Sure, some of them have the intentions to complete the games after launch, but it hardly ever happens outside of some paid content. Once a game is out and has sold to all of it's base fans, there is little incentive to continue to spend time & money on an old game. I've lost a lot of faith in Polyphony Digital over the course of GT5 & GT6. Neither one has felt as full or complete as any of the older games. With GT1-GT4, I was completely immersed for months. With GT5 & GT6, I have pretty quickly gone back to other games, playing GT as the diversion rather than a main title.

Some of the old standard cars look amazing in GT6 now - like the RuF RGT (my favourite). It's been beautifully finished and looks stunning in replays now.

As for sounds I think there's a distinct improvement in GT6 to what was offered up in GT5, however one of the best V8 bellows came from a standard car in GT5, a Lotus Esprit SE (naturally aspirated). Sadly this car isn't present in GT6 :(

Can you imagine for a minute, what would happen on GTP if the new sound package isn't ready at launch for GT7? Imagine the carnage!!!:dopey::drool::lol:

The GT section will implode, the rest of the forum will be unaffected. Jordan installed overkill-to-the-extremely-extreme barriers before GT5 was released in case that happens. Everyone outside will just hear an odd popping sound, and will just continue on with whatever we was doing at the time.

Because the rest of us realize there is a forum outside the GT section.

Improving sound is nothing (at all) to do with PS3's hardware limits, it's only sound. The sound in the replays is good when the car flys by, I think it just needs more character. I think the red bull cars sound well over the top and digitalized, IMO they sound terrible. I was on Nordschleife yesterday parked at the top of the end straight, I could loudly hear the Red Bull Fan Car 2014 racing the whole way around the track from start to finish. They are so loud and got this digital "blip blip" sound to them.

All that needs changing on most cars is the engine note while driving.

Well PD do like disappointing so expect it probably in Jan 2017

Yes please where is the update. I thought Kaz said the current sounds were a placeholder.

I hate to be one of those guys but I will refuse to purchase anything else Gran Turismo until the sounds are confirmed up to par and none of the vacuum cleaner dyno fake transmission noise garbage.

I wouldn't be so upset but the game is so perfect otherwise. Some of the cars are really undrivable with such terrible sound.

Nobody actually expects this to still happen, do they? Don't believe anything they promise and certainly not anything they suggest they "may" do folks, it'll only end in disappointment.
