Any news or rumors on whether GT5 will have Initial D like mountain tracks?

I hope so.
Was always wondering why GT never had Touge, its a Japanese game after all.^^

The only hope I've got for us to see tarmac point to point racing on a tight course, is thanks to the WRC license. Man, I really want to take an AE86 or the FD3S down a mountain pass now! Damn you! :P

That's what I was going to say. Kazunori is intent that only races with real life counterparts are in GT5, so maybe we can get some non-drifting mountain action news next week.

Fingers have been crossed for this since GT3.

Hopefully we will find out, alot of secrets next week!👍

P.S. Fingers and toes crossed!!!:sly:

I hope to see more Monster tracks in GT 5.

GT 4 has the Nurburgring ( 22km ) and Le Sarthe ( 13 km ) but there's really nothing else that approaches that size.

I do hope we see some 16 km long mountain track in GT 5 something like what was shown in that Forza vid.

Anyone tried the arcade game Battle Gear 4Tuned? Its a realistic racing sim found in arcades, complete with clutch and 6 speed shifters. It has modeled the exact Initial D mountain locations for ppl to race downhill or uphill with ie. Akagi, Akina.

And damn, the cars you can use include nicely detailed rx7s, ae86s, etc. Its quite realistic for an arcade game, even with a drift mode. I've been wishing this game would come out on the ps3, cuz it's highly unlikely PD would model something like that.

Battle Gear 3 did come out on the ps2, here's hoping this game would follow suit.

At the very least, GT should have hillclimbs. Not sure what Togue is, but I'm guessing it might be what the JDM-speak for something similar?

Hopefully, Spa would be the next big one.

Imagine point-to-point Nurburgring that squirms down the side of mountain and you're pretty close. And usually driven at night..

But I don't think they will be included, they're widely considered as illegal activity, and I seriously doubt that Kaz would want to promote stuff like that in his game. However, a closed touge-like track, like Ebisu, would be nice.

Agreed. Even Tsuchiya, whose origin/background is touge racing, is pretty big on denouncing it in an attempt to push more professional and legal forms of motorsport. I think this is where GT sits also. Alongside Ebisu, at best I think we'd see a closed-off, daytime Gunsai touge a la Best Motoring (would love that!).

I looked up some Togue and the drifiting is kind of gay. But I can imagine Hillclimbs in GT. Totally legal stuff.

Having the Targa Florio would be all kinds of awesome.

I definitely hope there's a mountain track like this in GT 5

Hope to see poin to point mountain pass in GT5!

There are legal touge tracks, like Gunsai Touge. Or if we have a full WRC licence, for sure there will be mountain pass!! When there is a Rally event or a Hillclimb event, the roads are closed, so there is no problem about if it is legal or ilegal.

For example, I live at 10 minutes from some WRC stage's. This stages are from Spain, also know as Rally Catalunya. This year it's from 1 to 4 October, so you would see it on TV. All the rally it's organized, roads are closed and there is a security organization, so it's all legal. But, when there isn't any event, some people goes with their cars to race, and that's the ilegal part. So Kaz would not have any problem to represent Mountain pass in GT5. And there is no problem if it's representet in a day period or in a night period (like Initial D), because there are racing events in night period. For example, regional rallyes, some time are in night period.

Fingers crossed!!!

Wasn't Pikes Peak regularly used by professional drifters? like Calvin Wan, Rhys Millen, etc etc?

NFS Shift looks pretty good but I want 60fps and full Sim physics on my tight mountain tracks.
I will be getting Forza3 but I'm not willing to invest $300 dollars for a proper Fanatec Wheel with H shifter and clutch when I already have a G25 so that pretty much leaves me begging for GT5 to include an awesome touge track
No, but you could always go and play NEED FOR SPEED instead ...

Well, GT2 had Pikes Peak.

Maybe it'll make a comeback?

No, there isn't any news, and we won't know until the game releases, and that's Famine knows away.

What about all the original tracks?

And gt2 had the pikes peak race. Im sure they will bring that back.

They better, I've been waiting for years already!

Man, do I want all those original tracks, every single one. But what I meant was that things like Pike's Peak actually are race locations in real life, and the fantasy tracks are loosely based on real race courses. For contrast, Forza 1 had a few point to point races that were lifted from Need for Speed, and considering that a bunch of the team were hired away from EA's NFS team, that makes sense. At least one race ran through a city, including through a shipping company lot!

Yes i remember FM1 having that Ken Block gymkhana like track(it was night also), i think itwas Los Angeles Docks, the Rio circuit is one i really enjoyed especially the lighting effect comming out of the tunnel, takes a second to get clear vision, like "real life".

I'm a fan of Touge racing and since it's a Japanese national pastime, im hoping that some form of it will be included.

New 4wd cars traction/handling test track.

Omg at the thought of a P2P trial mountain.......and what the hell did they do to fujima kaido... What's with the water fall... and what look's to be ancient ruins?...

I want the fujimi kaido from forza 1 back!

Waterfall, yes.

Ancient ruins.... I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

And that IS Fujii Kaido from Forza 1, but they have more than doubled it's size.

In the first game it was simply a P2P race, but they added so much more to it that now it's a complete mountain Circuit. People are speculating that it is now nearly the size of the Nurburgring.

If that is the case then i hope they make a fictional track based on a real mountain pass that is somewhere in japan. 👍 A to B courses have there own unique challenges and strategies.
