I was just wondering if there were any sim-racing games that focus around street racing that are out or coming out. I think this might be an interesting type of game.

I can only think of Live for Speed's cruise servers. There are some that emulate cities, complete with traffic, speeders and police enforcement, as well as barriers and objects that let server hosts create their track layouts.

Street-racing... simulator... what?

Too many legal issues involved in making something like that. I don't expect you'll see anything that goes past the original NFS: Underground titles and their shoot-offs.

What kind of legal issues are you talking about. Basically make nfs underground with a more realistic physics engine. It doesn't have to be marketed as a similar game.
Tokyo xtreme racer drift 2 isn't a sim game but its physics are pretty damn nice.

Yes they are. I was playing that and Zero last night. I honestly forgot how fun those games were.

The idea imho is great.. epic win, but you know, they simply can't handle it. Look at these developers: PD 5 years for an unfinished game, SMS delivered a game full of bugs...
Maybe in future but we need better developers.

I wish it was like the good old days of unpatchable games. A developer HAD to make it right or else they would be screwed. I'm sick of hearing games are released unfinished or bugged cause a developer says they'll patch it later.

Yeah indeed, you can find perfectly working (and outstanding) rFactor mods for FREE, and these "developers" charge you for their unfinished games or with tons of BUGS. I don't get it, maybe they think they can fool customers, but you can fool me once, not twice. Trolliphony Digital and Slightly Trolls Studios that's for you. Bad products = Bad reputaion.
