I know its a super random question! But im just curious because its autumn and and i saw a really nice audi and i got the urge to drive a new audi past some autumn leaves and the reflection on the paint and swooon. Or better yet are there seasonal changes for the tracks?

Hi there, welcome to GTPlanet. Although seasonal changes at the tracks are not expected, a fictional circuit known as "Autumn Ring" has appeared in previous GT games. As its name implies, it is in a "autumn" setting, with fall foliage on the leaves of the trees. Despite its popularity, no-one knows if it will return for Gran Turismo 5 at this point.

Autumn Ring is too short to take a pleasure in autumn colours and mood. Any known track in autumn or completely new and long natural track with autumn trees or better very long point to point autumn race would be perfect.

I've always wondered what comes of Autumn ring in summer? PD didn't think that one through lol.

Id be interested to see how the cars would react on a wet Autumn ring.

driving on leaves without ESP would be awesome

Ferrari Challenge had leaves on the track although I don't think that changed traction. FC also had Mount Tremblant which is a great track and I'm sure it would look great with autumn colours.

In Autumn Ring the trees don't overhang the track. But leaves would still be carried for the wind. This will be GT5, there is no excuse not to have them. If they havn't already they shouldn't bother, they should of thought of it when modelling the circuit.

But there is no confirmation it will be included...

As for the seasonal changes to tracks, we will be hopeful, but i very much doubt it for GT5. They would have to model each cicuit at different times of the year, then use those changes to accurately portray the same in their original circuits. It is quite a lot of work.

Of course they could just changes trees to orange and put a few leaves on the track, but thats not the way PD work

Autumn Ring is in GT Mobile, so maybe it will make it into GT5.

Never been very excited of Autumn ring, for my the most boring track of GT4. So no tears if this track is left out. The leaves on the track was the only thing to make it worth while driving.

Autumn ring is a real arcade track (from GT2?), GT5 will be a simracer. Unless they will make a lot of changes i don't think we will see it back. PD can make tracks like the Eiger Nordwand and London these days, tracks of a higher level.

I think there may be trees and stuff that are in nice colours but I dont know about the leaves blowing around.

PD should get some of Kojimas people to help them with the weather. If you ever played mgs 2/3/4 you will notice that they have beautiful weather engines.

Why bother with autumn ring? Bring back SSR 11 (2009 layout, even though I don't what it will look like ) and Red Rock Valley!

I think driving around the Nord with no leaves on most of the foliage would really change the mood you got.

Maybe make it a bit more menacing and aggressive.

It depends what part of the world you are in and also depends on the types of tree. I live in the UK and i can tell you Autumn is not quite as colour vibrant as that here.

I don't know about Japan though. Thats assuming it is based there.

I live in a place where Autumn is just a climatic transition b/w summer and winter. No orange scenery or falling leaves. Lasts for half a month lol.

If weather changes make it into GT5, will autumn ring still be called autumn ring ?
Winter ring, spring ring, summer ring.

Yep, the trees shed their leaves and make a big greeny brown mess on the floor, thats about it. Having said that, in certain parts of autumn ring you can see leaves off the edge of the track, but there should be some on the track.

I don't think we will se Autumn ring at all in GT5 (But i'm hoping due to popular demand they will release a map pack as DLC). Thats just my judgement of course, based on the 20 tracks 70 variations idea.

its 70 tracks, and 20 photomode locations [most probably/hopefully] :P

I seriously hope so.

But because there has been speculation, its safer to assumed its going to be 20 tracks 70 variations, so it means we can't get disappointed :)

I remember playing NFS High Stakes on my pc back in 1999 and being impressed by the collections of leaves that would gather and be blown apart by speeding mclarens and ferraris on many tracks. I personally hope this consideration will be part of the "vast, enormous" scale of GT5 that Kaz is referring to; it's honestly to be expected at this point.

^ I'm sorry but you have to be mistaken. Autumn Ring is a lot more exciting to lap around than most real-life tracks, not to mention PD's own Apricot Hill and Midfield tracks. I love the way Autumn Ring is set up, it has a combination of low, medium, and high speed corners all in one track that is smaller than Fuji, Suzuka, and Grand Valley speedways.

-> What? Autumn Ring is an arcade track!? Where'd do you get that idea? As of the moment, Autumn Ring is the perfect course for me to do my "Best of Garage" time attack challenge. Not too long, but challenging to push each of my GT4 cars to the edge. Any arcade track won't deliver the same experience. :)

To make my statement about the arcade track clear:

The design of the older GT tracks having a more mathematical approach, with all kind of corners in one track. With the newer GT tracks having a more natural flow with the landscape.

Complex string for example, a challenging track with al kind of corner combinations, but not realistic as a real-life racetrack. That's what i meant with arcade.

If the cars are so realistic as the are in GT5, the tracks have to be realistic to. Remember that GT started as a great arcade racegame, but they have made big step in GT5p to become a realistic simracer. In the past 12 years they have learned so much about racing, see the design of the Highspeedring and the tuned cars in GT5p:tup:.

Point to point racing isn't commonly used in Gran Turismo games.

I love driving down a curvy road with leaves everywere. Ok goin for another drive

-> Mmm, I think there is a thread regarding fictional courses in GT5 HERE. :)

^ It may be 'mathematical', but in the GT world who cares? Its whole lot of fun to flog around fictional 'mathematical' track compared to the 'natural flow' track in real life. :)

^ Fictional tracks deliver the sensation of "what if?" that most curious GT fans/enthusist crave (including me). I may be one of the few here, but real tracks bore me easily. The closest real life track that brings me into this sensation is the Nordschiffe, but that track is too long for just a quick run. :indiff:

^ I totally agree with you on that real cars should be on real tracks, but what about the Nike One? It really doesn't matter, I used to remember GT1 when PD introduced the completely fictional mid-engined Mugen Del Sol race car and that purplish tuned Dodge Concept Car (aka. Copperhead), these cars were a hoot to drive but essentially these cars are completely fiction and wishing for these cars to return in some sorts. :)

HSR-> I still prefer the the old High Speed Ring '90s (from GT1/2), its much more thrilling and challenging and most of all FUN! :sly:

i dont see leaves on the track

There are some on the side of some corners, not many though.
But it could change in GT5 if the track will be back.
