Okay, I preview the El Capitan 200mile Endurance and guess what I see? A 493HP Motor Sport Elise....

I look in my garage at my fully modified Motor Sport Elise and see something in the mid 300s, which is enough to throw it down with the best of them (them being non-race cars). So I go back to the preview, take this picture, and watch it go for awhile--it completely dominates the competiton. Anyway, is there any way to get the power that high on the Elises or is the game making this car only for this race?

.... that explains why my b-spec driver had trouble beating this car even in a Ford GT with 560 hp. I can't help you with this, I didn't know it had that much power.

El capitan is one of those rare tracks that i FULLY ENJOY and i love racing myself....but wen it comes to endurance, i rather leave the PS2 on overnite on B-Spec and wake up to a 1st place trophy. If you're lik me, the Minolta iz your "bestest" friend (although i think this is the race in which u win the minolta...if that is the case, you can still easily win by going into the driving missions and completing the 4 slipstream battles [3 of which are ridiculously easy, the Skyline one took me a few tries], then using the Pagani Zonda that you win; it won me my 1st 3 endurance races [forgot exactly which ones] and the european championship twice).

Also, i think most of us can agree that the horsepower stated in previews and replays is not 100% accurate (sometimes not even close). I once ended up wit the replay sayin that i had 450 hp when the hp display in the garage clearly stated something in the 800s (this happend wit the Dodge Viper GTS '99).

Did the garage guy put urin into your car instead of oil? lol? :dopey:

Well, what's actually the fun of racing with a 900 BHP Race Car against normal road cars? I didn't have any trouble with that Elise in A-spec. I was 8 secs faster than him. Only my B-spec driver drove the same laptimes as the Lotus. But still don't get what the fun is by racing with a much better car. Then you're a lap in front in no-time. Wow, that's fun.. I'd rather have a 3 hour close race which I win in the last corner then winning in an overpowered car... But that's just me...:)

i used the 205 t16 rally car for that race (i know strange choice but my bspec driver had no problems ?

Audi Le Mans quattro, loads of power, 4WD and quick.
ive used it for loads of races

I just bought sports tyres on my r92cp and that car owned.

My B-spec'er did fine in an M5.

Why are you posting which car you used for that race? You're not even trying to answer the original post of can you tune the Elise to 490 hp. Maybe that figure is at the crank, how far off percentage wise is it from the stats in your garage?

i see weird stuff like this too... one time i was racing at seattle in the american events fogot which ones and there was a shelby series one that had some sort of EXTREME camber issues in the rear!! i saved the replay but still havent taken a pic when i say extreeme it looked like the rear was at negative 10-15 degrees!! and somehow the car managed to finish 3 or something.. it looked really rediculous..

I dont think you can. And I am guessing they are trying to give u hints of which car to use. Me personally depending on tyre restrictions can now use either the Polyphony formula 1 race car that u get from the Nurburgring 24 Hour endurance, or the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peaks car that still has to be modified.

Yeah, In my race of el capitan it is the same Elise.
there also was a Shelby Series 1 with those camber angle at the rear..
Really odd, but my b-spec driver in the Audi Novulari beat hi, with ease :-p

I used my.... OPTION Stream Z to win this race and the Elise had like 490 hp also. it couldn't keep up but it was like 10 laps ahead of 3rd. I was like 13 ahead of him.

I'm pretty sure you can go buy the Motorsport Elise from the dealer in the Classics section. Don't know for sure whether it can be modded up to this HP rating or not because I haven't tried. I don't doubt that PD has a cheated HP multiplier for cars for several races in the game... they did in GT3.

Either way, that particular car isn't a real problem at El Capitan whether A-spec or B-spec providing you come prepared to out drive him in A-spec (which really doesn't take much with this AI) or out muscle him in B-spec.

I just used a stock BMW M3 GTR in A-Spec. It was a great race 👍

I used the Cadillac Cien you get for winning the Rally d' Umbria in the Special Condition Hall. It was recommended in another forum. I drove the first 30 laps or so, then handed things over to my b-spec driver for 20 laps or so (set at steady), then went back to a-spec for the last 10 laps or so. I (we) finished at least a lap up on every car except the car that finished second, more than a minute behind. When I started I didn't like El Capitan, but now its grown on me, though it is awfully bouncy in places no matter what car I'm driving.

I used the BMW GTR too. Walked away easy with the trophy. This game has made me love BMW even more than I did before. If BMW was a woman, i'd make sweet sweet love too her, in all the wrong places. :sly:

I can't figure it out either but they're the same guys who'll be moaning "I'm BORED with GT4" in another week or so! :irked:

WELCOME to the Planet YuRiPa! 👍 You'll do well here with your attitude! ...O.G. :D

i was waiting for someone to actually address the topic. thanks for steering back on topic.

Yeah, I didn't have any problems with my Viper, T350C or M3 CSL (well, my M3 never went up against the Elise) in the various times I've run it. But I must say that I don't think my B-spec driver could have faired well as he sucks at overtaking unless the car he is in is tremendously better than the competition's. Anyway, I'm digressing from my own topic.

Anyway, PD screwing with the HP multiplier is news to me....do any other cars have some serious HP issues (too large or too small??), because the rest of the cars in that field also have around 500HP, but the featherweight Elise just destroys them. I'd be really interested to hear of any other drastic changes from the norm in any cars other than this Elise and the Shelby with the insane camber.

The most horsepower (ps) I got out of my Motorsport Elise with NA Stage 2 and a couple other power mods, maybe with semi-racing exhaust, was 280.

Stage 2 weight reduction renders it 668kg, which is pushing F1 standards.

With that power and that weight, and racing hard tires, it laps the 'Ring in the 7'20 range, even with a screw-up or two.

It's still not tuned correctly, but it's a project car.

The lack of weight makes it jumpy on that course, so I dunno.

I might post the setup in the tunings & settings forum.

See what advice people have to offer.

The Gillet Virtigo has stupid horsepower figures. I don't know if anyone has found out why yet, but it has around 900bhp, and thats standard. The car in real life has more like 400bhp from it's Alfa engine. So that's one more I know of. I swear I've seen quite a few with incorrect horsepower figures. Ok you can't expect PD to be perfect but the amount of time the game was delayed some of these are stupid sloppy mistakes.

I still think its crazy to race at one track for 24 hours, even if you are playing on b-spec I think its ridiculous.

Yeah but its vital to the game. Also without it I wouldnt have the Polyphony Ferrari F1 car would I? And they could have made the 'ring one only 12 hours.

hey, don't blame it on PD that much..its good enough that they have made then GT series in the first place..if u think comlpaning is going to be good..why don't you guys try coming out with a game that has perfect stats and ****...which is impossbile..and some of your are complaing that its mostly Japanese cars..? well no ****..its a fuking japanese game..not a fuking american game ok....i prefer more japan carsd in the next Gt...than american cars..and some euro cars too..american cars carn't that good...compared to Japanese and euro cars..

Just keep it outta the exhaust pipe there buddy!
Yeah I seen that elise too....
pain in my butt, but a-spec and my Stang took it down good.
Buddy and me where racing, he was using a fully modded Z06 vette, I used my 05 Stang. Of course I have done tuning to it. We did a best of 3.
We raced La Sarthe and the Nurb, 3rd was gunna be Citti Di Aria.
But I won the first two so no need for a third....
On Sarthe I got him by only 2 secs, but on the nurb.....
I spanked him. Granted I have a bit more experience since I don't b-spec as much as he does....
but still too damn funny watching the Oh so revered z06 get beaten by a car the chevy boys put down to no end. And I know the few here will go, "Oh well it's moded" Well your also the same guys that back when the 03 Cobras where crapping all over your c5s, you where saying "Well if my LS2 had a supercharger...."
And well GM jsut canned the platform the next gen camaro was gunna be on, so well Stang is the only true muscle....and will be for a long time.
(new charger is not muscle, has 4 doors and is slow and expensive....new GTO, it's an import, from aussie)
Eat my shorts....
Oh and to the creator of GT, tone down the damn NSX, had the opportunity to drive one last night (I work in a body shop), it had just been painted and I took it out for a test to make sure there was no wind noise on the driver's door. And the roads are pretty twisty here in new england. I must say, I wasn't impressed. I had to go slower through corners than I do in my 05 Mustang.....
The clutch was wayyyy to sensitive, ganted I prefer a stiff clutch that takes force, but this was like you look at it and it pressed in....
Stereo was nice, but for an $89,000 car....
And it also sucked at doing burnouts. (owner tried doing one, not me....)
He says he loves it, but he also admits he has never diven a vette, stang, viper, or any REAL american car. So I took him for a ride in precious... he changed his tune about american cars. Granted I have dumped around $7,500 into my 05, but it's still wayy cheaper and wayy faster than the new C6 vettes....
ah to be a young american with a fast car..... 👍

Our cars aren't that good?
I'm sorry you msut have missed the Stang kicking porsche and BMW arse all over the Grand Am Racing League.....
And you seem to forget Ford beating ferrari 3 straight.
One time going 1,2,3....
And Chevy beats Ferrari in Lemans racing now adays.
And an NSX costs how much? And it gets beaten on and off the track by a vette that costs about half that....
And Skylines, well only good car to come from japan, but still they are very costly to import. So you blow $70,000+ to get your R34 GT-R. And stock for stock, sorry to rip on your import lovers, but the 03 and 04 Cobras can beat a skyline around the track or strip. Granted it would be very close, but the brute power of the cobra would give it an advantage. Not to mention the the skylines are heavier...
And BMWs aren't the great either....
Again the Cobras can take it down, as could a vette or a later F-body.
And don't say oh well my STi or EVo.... uh no..
sorry but for you guys it's a race to 80mph, then you slow down, why?
They are rally cars, made to get to about 65-80 and keep there, not really o go much further.. they won't stop at 80 mph, but after 80 the acceleration decreases alot.
Oh well 4wd, try 2wd....
the front and rear axles are not posi, so only the right front and left rear are being driven, untill enough resitance is given to make the other 2 wheels go... that's why you will never see a full on 4wd burnout, well unless the cars has mods and the driver is good....
America is jsut as good. Name any euro or jpn car and I can name aan american to beat it.
Oh and the top speed record.... doesn't belong to the brits anymore, Sweden has that! And they use an engine block borrowed from america in the fastest car i nthe world the Konigsegg CCR. Uses Ford's 4.6 engine block. So now the McLaren F1, might be a great car, but isn't really special anymore....
And the Saleen S7 twin turbo is faster than both anyhow...
twin-turbo Ford Nascar based motor, very light body, areodynamic enough to create it's own downforce at 160 mph, and has yet to be tested for it's top speed....I willing to bet it will get past the Koenigsegg's record of 248 mph....
