I just got the Logitech Driving Force tonigh and I'm worried about durability. When I turn hard the gears whine pretty loud. I got this wheel for drifting and I'm hoping it won't break or strip the gears. Any experiences with this anyone?

Dont worry about the whining. I've been using the Logitech wheel for over a year now, and given it some abuse. My turn-in-whilst-still-braking style means i'm often swapping from lock to lock in corners rapidly and I've had no problems other than aching arms.

Sounds like fun there FP. Ha.

My friend has put hit Logitech through plenty abuse for a little over a year also and his is holding up without a problem. Nice little wheel.

"ford tough" ahaha.

i have a question for all you wheel owners. where do you use it? I want to get one but I dont know if I need a chair or a desk in order to use it. I always sit/lay on my bed and play GT3 with the normal controller. Thanks!

I got a little night stand/ table that I clamped mine to and I just put the pedals on the floor. My PS2 is in the living room so I take the cushion off and put a pillow there. It gives a more realitic seating position.

Youve gotta place it on something solid and sturdy otherwise it is crap. And that lap extension is useless

I dont think the lap extenxion is THAT useless, but that was when I had a Cast on my leg  I use the lap extension alot and I got used to it. It's different for other people though...

You need some space to do this, but this is what I did. I went to a junkyard and bought a seat from a Ford Escort XR3i and bolted it to a frame with integral table made from scraps of copper piping. The wheel clamps on to the table and the pedals rest on the floor against the front of the frame. The car seat still has the sliders and rake adjustment to get the perfect driving position, and being from a 3door car tilts forwards out of the way a bit when not in use.

Whatever you use, do need something solid to attach the wheel to because it requires a bit of force when the feedback is turned on. If it waves about you will not get accurate steering inputs as some of your energy will be used moving the wheel.
