emadand a voice recorder, and an fm tuner, and compatibility with more audio formats (ie, ogg), a reasonable battery life
User changable batteries would destroy the aesthetics of it as it would break the smoothe surfaces of the unit.
All they need is an opening in the bottom and just slide it in... it wouldn't change much. The voice recorder isn't necessary in my opinion, just a nice extra, that's all. Same with fm tuner. The ipod is compatible with pretty much all audio formats... iTunes will simply convert them to aac. The battery life of current iPods isn't any different than of competitors. For example sony mp3 players claim to play 32+ hours, but only with very low bitrates / volume, without you browsing the files at all this will be the case... which is never. Those also last 18 hours max if you put it to normal use.. I know, because my friend owns one.
