Anybody own/used an 'OpenWheeler' cockpit?

Damn good price if it's any good, anyone got any experience with them? Can't seem to find any reviews anywhere or even any threads that have mentioned them. One concern is the pedals look quite a steep angle to me, don't knwo what anybody else thinks. I quite like the low seat position though, quite f1y.

Thoughts?
 
Never heard of them before but the design looks like a copy of the original Gameracer rig with a few minor adjustments to the angles of the steering column.

I got my Gameracer about 4 or 5 years ago.. nice rig but to be honest too small for my Fanatec CSP's and the centre post is an issue if you have pedals with a clutch. If you have a 2 pedal set up (gas and brake) then the centre post is irrelevant (sp?).

Good point, I use a DFGT at the moment and I left foot break but I would like to upgrade (hopefully to the new thrustmaster is it's as good as it looks!) and would be a bummer to sink 300 quid into a cockpit that won't work with it. Are there any reasonably priced cockpits without center posts? the GamePod looks great but it's another 200 hundred pounds
 
i would agree that the openwheeler (also gameracer, playseat etc) design have pedal plates that seem way to steep to me. I am awaiting for clubsport pedals which seem to be designed for flat mount , or a very low angle. I think having pedals at such a steep angle would become painful during long sessions, also the bar in center cannot be ideal, but will bother some more than others, esp if steering column is close to pedals. personllay i use right foot on both pedal and brake and left foot for clutch so to me it isn't ideal to have that bar

check out rinoseat gtr, should be about same amount of cash and no center post. seems like they are finally about to become reality and ship soon. on paper it looks like a total winner imo -> nice design, nice seating position, many adjustements, compact, light, good price and seems sturdy. we will see once we start getting some actual customer/pro reviews, hopefully soon -> my only concern would be getting in and out of seat, seems like that would be the biggest issue to me, since you are sitting fairly low and there isn't much room to slide in, but i doubt that is a big issue when you consider all the other possible plus points.

there is also the Obutto and GT omega as other options in your budget, however they feel cheap to me (having said that i never seen one in real life and could be misguided)

i ordered a gamepod though since i was sick of waiting for rinoseat. time will tell if i will regret it

Rinoseat website is so dodge! :) Any ideas how much the GTR will cost when it ships? the GT omega looks quite a good option, I've heard that Obutto gets really expensive from the UK.

Wondering about ebaying a bucket seat and making my own cockpit as that would definitely be cheaper, but I haven't really done much DIY since school so probably would end up being a fairly mammoth project.

Rinoseat or GT Omega look good options though

This is also very true. I have modded my Gameracer slightly to turn the steel pedal plate to a flat mount instead of angled. It was far, far too steep for me even when i used to drive with a set of DFP pedals. With the CSP's the angle is a non starter.
 
Also having looked at the T 500 RS (449 pounds without shifter!?!?) peds they again look designed to sit more or less flat (especially in the floating config) and would be barely useable at the 45 degree angle a lot of the seats use

yeah that website is a joke tbh. Rinoseat said that they would update it, but most importantly I would like to see an actual finished product reviewed by some customers/pro.

as for price it's €300 shipped to UK accoring to the quote i got from renato, so if this thing is any good then it is very good value for money.

anyway i recommend you wait since it looks like these will be shipped soon, then you can make a more informed decision. Renato said he would send one for review to insidesimracing guys, so am eagerly awaiting to see that
 
Thanks for the heads up on the rinoseat, definitely going to wait until some reviews (and the angry guy on the rinoseat thread gets his!) but looks pretty good. Funny thing is Rinoseats.com was the very first place I looked (came up on google or something) but their rubbish website makes it look like the only one they have is the weird looking (looks like something from ikea) one.
