Thanks heaps mate, I already bought a HDMI > DVI cable last night and it didn't work. The screen (on the current monitor) went green, and that's about it. Now I'm looking to buy a monitor, something like this, a BenQ G2400WD. Seems like it has everything I need. It's also the cheapest HDMI compatible monitor there is to buy, apparently, or I would have gone with a 22".

Speakers, I'll just use the normal AV cables, and that's that problem solved.

The BenQ G2400WD is compatible with HDMI sound (built in speakers), and it has a 3.5mm minijack output for headphones. This works great for me! If you put 100 bucks in a headset it would match a great stereo.

Sounds good then, I'll probably head out to the shops to buy something over the next weekend. Shame I can't find time earlier. :(

I'm playing my ps3 off a 27'' hdtv and since i don't own a racing seat setup i keep my g25 attached to my pc desk and use the tv as monitor.

Yesterday i've ordered a 22'' monitor ( Philips 220XW8FB ) wich seemed like the best choice considering what i was going to use it for. Initially i wanted to go for a 24'' samsung with full HD support but, i also want to use the monitor for casual pc gaming.

Having a 24'' monitor for pc gaming is not a good ideea unless you own a really good graphics card(s in sli) . So if you're thinking of buying a new monitor wich you also going to use for pc gaming make shure you got a decent system before you go for a 24'' one.

It won't work. Your monitor needs hdcp support. You can buy an hdcp stripper and then it will work.

I'm not so sure about all this HDCP malarky, I used my PS3 with a HDMI to DVI lead hooked up to a pretty old Samsung LCD monitor which I am fairly sure isn't HDCP compliant, and it worked, strange.

At the minute I use a BenQ G2400W which supports 1:1 pixel mapping and gives a superb picture in 1080p, use it with a racing cockpit.

If I may ask, how do you get audio from the G2400W? I was about to buy one, then I went to see one in a shop, it didn't have any speakers and the headphone port was rubbish.

I just bought meself an Asus VK222U, the video works fine but now no audio. It does have built in speakers, what settings would I need to change on the PS3 for the audio to work on this?

use the red and white plugs from the PS3 analogue cable (making sure that you have audio set to analogue, not digital or optical), then get a 2 female to 3.5mm audio jack plug and then plug that into any brand of PC speakers........ all done.

Just got my Philips 220X8FB and i'm preety happy with it as it supports 1080p alltho it's a 22'', Hdmi support and built in speakers .

One thing i could not help notice that the vertical image seems a bit streched, anyone else noticed this problem?

Yep, I did that. It works. I used a converter I have to convert the normal two AV sound cables and used it to convert to my 5.1s :D. Thanks mate 👍

I'll be posting my setup pretty soon. :D

The vertical image seems stretched because it is stretched.
That's because the screen's aspect ratio is 16:10, while 1080P is 16:9

It should state in your manual how you can change this.
In my 24" Dell it's a display setting called wide mode.
The option in the dell is standard set to full.
This will scale the image until the display is filled completely, but doesn't preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio.
If you switch it to the option Aspect the 16:9 aspect ratio will be preserved and you'll now have a black bar at the top and bottem of the screen.

I'm having the vertically stretched image aswell, and the problem is the manual is absolutely rubbish and dosen't really state anything useful. I've gone through the menus in the monitor Setup, and there is simply no way to change to 16:9. There is an Aspect Menu, but it seems to be unchooseable. :( I guess I'll be running a stretched image forever now.

Unfortunately it doesnt say in the manual anything about aspect ratio change nor can i find anything in the monitor menu.
Thing is some sellers specifications on this monitor say it's on a 16:9 aspect ratio while most say it's 16:10. I know for certain that it's 16:10 so i guess there's nothing i can do about it.

Thanks for trying to help out 👍
