i'm sorry but i was playing prolouge up until the release of 5 and i loved the online gameplay. the performance points system was great and made for amazingly close races. but now i just find myself grinding over and over. that makes me lose interest. great game, i will continue to play online but as far as a-spec i hate grinding, and i'm only doing b-spec to get cars, but my god the races last twice as long in b-spec and i don't even really do anything. BORING! all i have to say unlike the past gt's i loved not having to spend the first week trying to pass license tests.

The thing with GT series is you can make the game as challenging as you want by adjusting your car downwards. This is where having the A-Spec point rating would be helpful in letting you know how challenging it is. That is, if you are racing against a bunch of 675hp supercars, don't pick an 800. You can make it where you need to tune to win. For example, using the RM elise 111r, small car, but fully tuned can compete with the bigger cars on some tracks.

I have a rather unique approach to playing GT since gt2.

What I do, is play the game car by car, disregarding which events I can/should enter; I'll find out which the car can handle while driving it.

What this means is I'll pick a car or series of cars and see what I can take them to, tuned and all. Also, I've made the rule for myself that for any car with multiple generations of itself in the game, I have to start at the bottom and work my way up.

Playing the game in this way, not caring whether or not I finish all events, but just tuning my cars to have competitive fun in whatever events I can enter with them (before maxing them out), this game is gonna last me forever.

I currently have 82 cars in the garage, with me having driven and tuned only ~30 of them. That's how long I can keep going in this game!

GT4 kept my interest for about 5 years -- in fact, I'm still not bored with it.

GT5 is getting boring.

Lack of events in career mode, mostly, coupled with the fact that they dropped the A-spec point system from GT4.

I have to totally agree with you on this.

I'm not really bored of it, I'm like 5 mil exp. away from being level 40 on b-spec and fixing to hit 32 on a-spec, so I've been grinding a lot, so to break the monotony of it I went and bought the newest Need for Speed yesterday, couple hours or playing that I'm sure I'll be ready to go back to GT5

Now that is February 10th, is anybody getting bored?

Im starting to. I had motivation to do Bspec but even thats boring as hell.
A-Spec is already done.

I might go back to GT4 for a bit then come back to 5 i dont know

Pretty much done with it here. PD needs to do more than periodic events to keep me interested in GT5. I just do the seasonals and turn off the game.

Until they make some drastic changes to A-spec, I'm sticking with GT3 and GT4. Their physics and graphics may not be good as GT5, and they may lack all the other bells and whistles that it has, but at least they're fun.

I'm also surprised that I contradicted my first post. I guess GT5 wasn't going to be as fun as I thought.

I think a very notable reason as to why people are getting bored is because running the same old A/B Spec races can start to grate on you.

The problem is also that you cannot benefit (in terms of credits) for setting up races in Arcade Mode. The Arcade Mode in GT5 should have been set up like GT-PSP. On the PSP version you make a certain amount of credits based on your skill level and the number of laps you run.

I think people would really dig into this title if the Arcade Mode provided more benefits to the player.

Here is the problem with why many people claim to get bored so quickly with Gran Turismo 5;

In our day and age many of the younger generation people want to advance in a game with a visual confirmation such as a number or letter or emblem of some sort. You see this more prevalent in games these days, as its what keeps the majority of people hooked. However, this leaves a massive amount of quality untouched in very respective games such as GT5. There truly is an infinite amount of possibilities with the game, combining cars with tracks and tuning them, re-tuning, challenging them against others online, and so on. Yet when the majority of the population hits 40 in both specs or gets to a point they feel accomplished at, they get a instantaneous feeling of boredom and feel the erge to move onto another game.

How do i know this?
I have enough common sense to figure it out.

How can I prove im right?
Wait for the responses saying that's exactly how i felt (though they will most likely not willingly confess its true that they are apart of this new-age trend)

Is this all 100% right and the only reason?
No. There are many other reasons and the above does not apply to everyone. But it seems to be the dominant one. Judging people only on gtplanet alone is not a good way to get a conclusion to a theory, which i have not.

I gotta admit I am getting to a point where I am like C'mon I wanna hit level 40 in both Specs so I can get started on getting all golds in the license and special events, and I am gonna buy a wheel, plus I haven't even touched online yet! (still a bit nervous about driving clean enough for others since i do like a little door to door bumping... nothing bad like spinning others out etc.)
I also have a gamefly membership so I take a short break playing the other games and is always coming back to GT5! :-)

Most of that seems like utter nonsense.

The reason people get bored isn't because the number of their level doesn't increase anymore, it's because there's not the appropriate content to keep them hooked.

Other games manage to keep you hooked without constant accomplishment fairly well. But GT5 doesn't. Thing is, GT5 doesn't offer much of a goal, it tries to be sandbox. it goves you the toys to make your own fun.
However, a lot of those toys could've been better.

BLaming the ADD generation for being responsible of knowing how to enjoy GT5 seems... Plain wrong.

Theres WAAYY to little events in this game.

I have to agree with you
I love GT but I have to say that this is the most Dull game I have played in a long time
I have no complaints about the Premium Cars and Driving Phyisics are way better that Forza 3

Unfortunatly Forza 3 had it right the game always knew how to keep you engaged and striving for more. Making money in Forza 3 was alway FUN NOT GRINDING

5-6 years in develpment and thats all we get in a single player mode I felt cheated when I opened up some of the level races to find 1 race inside WTF.

B-Spec should have been a option like in Forza 3 not a requirement for a whole other mode

When will Japanese Developers figure out that Grinding is NOT FUN

Right now I am a Level 35 A-Spec and 40 B-Spec and I feel I havent really played the game exept to leave it on all the time letting bob run races

I play mostly online, because for me thats where the most replayability is. Unfortunately, its very stripped. No match making, no spec races, too much power for the host etc etc. Nearly impossible to get good races online unless you have close friends who play the game.

What is the point of the game after you bought the cars you wanted? How about drive them? Try racing online, that's an unlimited amount of fun for me. If you are bored just by simply buying all the cars you wanted, maybe racing games aren't suited for you? Just the driving alone with the improved physics is good enough for me. I remember back in the day before the COD's where people would just play the game to have fun. It seems now it's all about unlocking stuff, leveling up, and after that people are like "what now?". I loved Socom on PS2, it had no level XP or unlocking system, you just played and had fun. I admit that A-spec and it's lack of events is somewhat of a letdown though.

Could not have said it better my self

I am currently level 30 in both A and B spec and I am nowhere near bored with this game. I know I have a long ways to go before reaching level 40 in both A and B and the best part is I haven't even raced online yet! Still have less than 200 cars and I have a lot of fun racing my friend in our lounges. I can see me still playing this game a year from now no problem. My hope is to find some cool people to race with online and create daily or weekly rooms to have some clean and fun racing.

When I really like something, I totally explore it. I really like cars and racing and GT5, so I go exploring and try everything. Playing GT5 is different from playing a racing game where you level up and do the typical things you do in a game. There's depth to it, even if it doesn't have a lot of events. The events are just a small part of it, I find. I went through the same process with Forza 3. Eventually, I settle into the parts of the game I like most. In Forza 3, I'm racing with friends online all the time. In GT5, online doesn't get my attention so much, but exploring the garage and doing events over again using different cars and different configurations keeps me fascinated for hours and hours.

Still having fun L29 A-spec, L27 B-spec, and see no end in sight.

But it's very much a personal taste kind of thing. GT5 fits the way I like to do things, but it doesn't fit the way a lot of other folks like to do things. For them, it'll either become an acquired taste, or they'll move on. Some people hate wine, others can't stand beer. They're both great for the ones who do like it, but you can't talk a beer drinker into liking wine, and vise versa.

I shy'ed away from this thread because I though no way will I get bored. Erm WRONG! Bored out of my t**s. What a garbage game! PD can **** right off!

Havent done A-Spec or B-Spec yet ... B-Spec gets boring just watching them which is why im not so far on that but i love driving ... making the races a challenge :)

Im stuck on 31 for a while now and no endurance race until 32 but online racing seems to pass the time :) if anyones interested in a one make cup check my signature :) youll change your mind about being bored when you have a fair challenging championship 👍

Yep i'm bored of it. I've beed playing forza 3, NHL 11, and test drive 2.

The last time I played GT5 the throttle was getting stuck using the wheel, and that was the straw that broke the camels back. The way it's looking I wont' be buying GT6.

I pretty much have no desire to play the game anymore. I bought every car that I wanted (except the X1 and Ferrari F1's) and the game just ran out of replay value.

What is the point of the game now? Anyone else feeling the same? (and happen to still be browsing these forums? lol)

Naw, "driving" is still fun to me thankfully. Online racing is always fun if you are just "missing" the challenge from competition.

I would not say I am bored, but the dissapointment in the game design features is keeping me from the playing more often than not...
oh well...and so it goes...
:)

Not bored with the game yet as I'm still only at A-Spec level 22 but I'm certainly bored with B-Spec. But then if I'm being honest, I was bored with B-Spec by the second corner of the Sunday Cup. What a tedious pile of old pony B-Spec is. I've done it up to about level 15 just to earn Cr and cars but i think I might just chuck it completely. Forty five minutes to an hour of watching the AI race itself whilst occasionally clicking one of 4 basic commands. Who the **** thought that would be entertaining........? No one else does it. You dont get an option on Assassins Creed or Modern Warfare to sit and watch the AI fight itself, principally because it would be mind numbingly boring but for some reason its deemed to be a brilliant idea on GT. I'm going to abduct the head of B-Spec development for Polyphony and then I'm going to paint a very large wall, tie him to a chair and make him sit there and watch it dry. A taste of his own medicine !

Agreed, in GT4 you could use Bob to race your Endurance races so that made it worth getting him levelled up, but now what's the point.

Boring because there isn't anyone to play with. Playing and beating the game is one thing, but I'd love to take my cars/tunes and race online. Sadly, 99% of rooms are filled with dumbasses who can't race and I'm not looking for hardcore leagues. Just casual racing with people who understand the concept of braking without ramming. Unfortunately, I've tried to organize events and no one bites. On to MVC3.

Get into a group of racers then!

I would say this, but World League Racing is a good organiser that doesn't make you change your tags. Organised racing tends to be stricter on the rule-breakers, in fact I can only remember one case of someone driving against traffic in 1900 races run by us since 2008. He's loooong gone :D

There are plenty of such groups out there if you use your favourite search engine and have a browse. As well as getting into organised race sessions you'll build up a list of friends who race the way you like (otherwise you can just delete them :) ).

Like many games GT5's strongest points are in online racing - I just wish PD had realised that more quickly!
