Getting pretty bored too. I've bought almost every car in the new car dealership and the online dealership that I'm even vaguely interested in, and driven them all around my favorite tracks (at least the tiny variety of them that are available in this game) countless times. I'm sooooo sick of browsing through the same list of Skylines and Imprezas and RX7s in the used car dealership that I can barely stand to look through it any more.

I'm just doing the B-spec thing. Do an endurance race 4 or 5 times (172 laps of Suzuka right now. For the second time. I should probably turn the TV off for a few hours until it's over), go on to the next one, do it 4 or 5 times, etc. Win a minuscule amount of money and get some car you wouldn't look twice at if you saw it in the dealership.

I finally got the X2010 to show up in the dealership. I was SO excited - I'm gonna get a yellow one! Perfect timing too - I was getting kind of bored, but now I can grind 20 million and...oh, wait. I can't actually buy it until I'm at level 40, which is, let's see: about 24 endurance races from now? Way to absolutely kill whatever interest I may have still had in the game. I traded somebody for one, it jerks the wheel strongly back and forth going down straightaways, yippee.

I dunno. I've got Enslaved Odyssey to the West, then Dead Space 2 is coming out at the end of January, then Need For Speed Shift 2 - which I'm extremely psyched about - in March. Maybe Mass Effect 2 will be worth a look as well.

I might play GT5 for a few more days, but I think it's getting very close to being time to move on.

Hate to admit it, but yes I am getting bored too. I'm at 90% and probably wont go much farther since I'm not going to sit for 24 hours to run an endurance race. I can't believe how few events there are, it's barely more than Prologue. I'm hoping, and I think I am correct, that PD will add more events in future patches. Until then I've got maybe 2 more days of playability from it :/

I have reached a point where playing GT5 slowly stops making sense for me, too. I have golded all A-Spec events apart from the Formula GT Championship and the endurance races, and in B-Spec I'm pretty much at the same level. I started to ask myself why I'm desperately trying to advance in this game however. And the reason I'm asking myself this is one I don't like one bit. It is this one sentence which just randomly popped up in my head, and somehow I can't get away from it:

If they didn't make an effort when designing this game, why should I make an effort when playing it?

I know it doesn't really make sense, but I just kind of feel stupid to invest so much spare time and work into a product of which I think that the manufacturer didn't apply the same dedication when making it. For me, they have devalued Gran Turismo with #5 to some extent. I just don't feel drawn into it, I don't feel like I want to spend every single minute I have to play it.

This is the first Gran Turismo which makes me think this way. The odd balance of the A-Spec mode is just too much for me. I'm not an online guy, and while I'm okay with the idea of a B-Spec mode, they put too much emphasis on it and the AI is just too bad to enjoy it. This might be the first Gran Turismo I own which will make its way onto the shelf rather sooner than later. And this game had so much potential.

There just isn't enough incentive to continue playing to game and 'grinding' through the events. The structure of the gameplay is just so frustrating. It used to be worth it to do the endurance races because at the end of the race you knew that you would be awarded accordingly for your efforts with a good sum of Cr and a very nice car.

In this game I can make more money from a 3 minute race around Indy than a 3 hour race around Grand Valley so why even bother?

It's just so frustrating that every time you win a series of races you get some garbage prize car that you will never use. It used to be when you won you couldn't wait to see what the prize car was going to be, it was an enjoyable part of the game.

I think it's really a difference between:

Racing as an end in itself vs. Racing for a reward.

The former is enjoyable to a point (for me) and the latter is not rewarding enough. Thus no more replay value.

Also the online aspect has been so poorly executed, maybe if there were proper leaderboards and you could set detailed search parameters to find a suitable race it would be more fun.

To me the game is far from the revolution that I was expecting it to be. Let's be honest, this game is much more of an evolution than a revolution. There is not one aspect of the game that is really unique. Something that makes you say "Wow! It's so cool that they thought of this."

I tried playing it for a bit just now, and again, it didn't last long. I think I'm generally done with it. While I've avoided whining or detracting from the game, I'm now among the disappointed, especially as I bought a PS3 over an XBox last year because of GT5. It's also only the second game I've ever preordered, and the only collector's edition I've bought. Hmmm, an XBox... Nah. I still have a PS2 and both GT3 and 4.

lol came back from work yesterday, couldnt be bothered. Good game though but many of the events are somewhat bland. Truck racing...Won a silly q7 audi the other day. Im not as hardcore as some people who already finished endurance racing....

But we'll see what other updates await.......

I think they should add this feature into the game!

* Be able to rotate with B spec driver/drivers for endurance races longer than 3 hours. LE Mans 24hours is a joke. You should be able to rotate with up to 3 B Spec drivers just like the real le mans race.

3 hour endurance races fair enough. Whos gona sit for 24 hours come on! pause or no pause

For me it would be worth it if after Golding all the halls you can like prestige and reset all the events so they come back with either mechanical damage and faster higher HP opponents with a second set of prize car to go with.

Come to think of it, I was just going to make a thread saying i was bored of GT5 already. I mean really, I've played this game relentlessly and am not close to 95% done with the game, and I have the cars that I've wanted since the beginning.

I was in love with this game in the from the start, and i think that i "overplayed it" and got bored too quickly.

This game in comparison to how much content GT4 had, is nothing. GT4 was 5x bigger than this with all the one make races alone.
:indiff:

To brink me back this game needs to add:

1) Dedicated drag strip course for online races

2) The following cars converted to premiums: MKIV Supra Turbo, E46 M3, Bugatti Veyron, Mazda Furai

3) The following cars added as premiums: 2012 GTR, 2011 Mustang GT 5.0, any new RUF model

4) A racing modification for the Mazda Miata

GT5 is only getting boring due to the lack of tracks. If it was a thousand tracks and only 24 cars it would almost never get boring

Hell no. I havent taken it out of my PS3 since the day it came out. Still cant get enough of it :)

I'm not sure how you can be bored of a racing game with this phenominal level of content unless your just not that into racing.

I'm actually having alot of fun in B-Spec for the last few days. Everytime I finish something there is something different to try.

Absolutely awesome game :)
GT5 isn't a racing game really. It's more of a driving game with some racing thrown in.

I haven't gotten bored of it yet, but I only play it for about 3 hours a day, every two days.

I definitely agree that it has too few A-Spec events, and I also agree to a point that it's a "driving game with some racing thrown in". Most of the time when you win on this game, you really win, and you're not really competing just racing by yourself. The seasonal events helped out some, I just don't like having to buy a car for each event.

That being said, I'm not bored at all really. I think the online experience is great, especially if you get together with a group of like-minded racers. I also thoroughly enjoy tuning my cars and testing them out. I still have hours upon hours of tuning and testing enjoyment ahead of me.

At last all the haters, hype buyers and pure gamers are getting bored!

Bye guys! The fewer people playing online bumper cars the better, the races will get cleaner and less strain on the servers. It's win-win!

To those old school GT fans, sorry guys I'm sad that you don't love the new GT, hopefully you will have a golden moment and everything will fall into place. Maybe with all the haters gone the mood here will be more positive.

I popped GT4 in because I wanted to drive something and didn't feel like watching the paint dry(b-spec grinding). I forgot how much there was to do in that version and can't believe how lacking GT5 is in comparison.
I would have been happy with this game if they just re-made GT4,with the updated graphics and online capability.

+11.

What's really disappointing is that they had one of the best games out there (GT4) and chose to abandon a lot of what made it great. Instead of incrementally improving it, they started from scratch and went off in a different direction -- a direction that a whole lot of old-time GT fans aren't very fond of.

Nope, not yet. I've been playing it alot, but not 24/7 like some guys seem to be doing. So I've still got many events to do and cars to collect.

I see so much discussion about it that it makes me wonder: is it better then the ferrari F1 cars that are new in GT5?
Its probably faster than the Ferraris, but people only talk about it because the game forces you to use it.

With that attitude you'll end up playing with yourself.(might be already)
I'm not a hater.I love the game,it's just too dang small.I never in a million years would have guessed I'd be done with A-spec this quick. Online is not the be all end all to everybody.
To the guys that keep saying don't overpower the competition and it will last longer,I say run a real racing program like that and see how long it's fun.

This is the first GT to lose my interest, even after finishing the others i enjoyed them till the next one came out. I'm 88% complete and tired of the game. Online boring, drift boring, time trials boring. This game had to much grinding and to few events to have any life to it. Seriously any game that is made up of almost 50% computer play to finish is just BS, someone need more content to justify selling this. I use to consider my self a zombie GT fanboy but i can't wait for ShiftII just for a change.

Ya, I'm starting to get bored as well. I hope PD realizes soon that if they still want this game to be played 1 month from now, they have to fix the online. Like it or not, but the best way to add replay value is by adding a good online portion, and online is quickly becoming the most important portion of any video game. Yes GT5 is a driving sim, but it still needs to be treated as a video game due to the nature of its platform.

As of now, the online is a joke. The screen freezes way too many times, and just today, I had to quit the game due to a online freeze 4 times. They need to add a force start, so if the host is napping or gone to the crapper, everybody else can still race. They need to add match making or official PD rooms. Increase the pay out to help with grinding. Work on the online PD, please, that is the future of GT.

I had this same idea a few days ago...its a brilliant idea.

After you have golded an event the game unlocks a similar bhp/weight sliding scale feature as in GT5 Prologue...also maybe randomize the second prize car so you don't know what you gonna get...add some expectation into the mix.

Like others have said once you have golded all the races up to expert level there is no reason to race them again. Crap prize cars for high ranking Championships is also a major turn off...

It would also be nice to have more wheels to choose from... more body kits...no after market wheels on standard cars?? Come on it took PD SIX YEARS to make this frikken game! What were they doing?

Bored. Hahaha. Never!

This game has alot of replay value, with online!

Online, you can just go cruising with your friends. Time trials. Tourneys. Drifting. Endless possibilities.

No way buying cars and playing through the career are just a very small part of racing games to me.
The real game play and fun comes from online racing, nothing better than a good solid racing game and a well thought out racing league.

Yeah I'm getting bored. But I got Black Ops for Christmas (bass akwards I know) and we've already pre-ordered LBP2 so I guess it's a good thing. I only log on and do one seasonal race (1 car/4 accounts) every day, then it's back to Black Ops. I'm sure LBP2 will squeeze out GT5 for at least a month or two and then perhaps I'll revisit GT5.

I should add that I'm not a "tuner" so online isn't really that interesting to me. The tuners will probably enjoy the game much longer than the racers.

I pretty much have no desire to play the game anymore. I bought every car that I wanted (except the X1 and Ferrari F1's) and the game just ran out of replay value.

What is the point of the game now? Anyone else feeling the same? (and happen to still be browsing these forums? lol)

well for me i get about 70% of my enjoyment from this game just from taking photos.

this is basically what i do, i have a schedule where somedays i dedicate to grinding, other days i dedicate to b-spec and other days i dedicate to taking photos.

this way i spread it out so im doing something different each day and i never get bored.

that and im still about 100 cars off getting every premium car so i doubt i'll get full bored until i've got all 200 cars and taken photos of all of them lol.

not to mention dedicating weekends to online play with friends etc the game still has tons of replay value for me.

I'm fairly new to the series, started with prologue but it sounds to me like those that are bored were looking for an arcade game (level, points what's next) and those that aren't bored were looking for a racing sim. Those that are bored call it a "grind" to "level up". Which infers the point of the game is to reach a higher level and the way to do it is to grind, not race. To me the point of the game is to race and drive cool cars and the credits are just so I can buy new cars. I mean I can play online and have a different race every 5 to 10 min for as long as I want to play.

When i get bored i go online and play with some decent crew for online battles, good fun some great laughs at times

i lost interest a long time ago. all thats left for me is the grind to unlock the endurance races and the x1.

im at lvl 26 a/b, and i just let me b spec run for the better part of the day. as for a spec, theres only so many times i can go around an oval track before i say the hell with this.

i wish gt5 was half the game gt4 was. hell, even 1/4 of the game gt4 was....

I'm bored but theres a very good reason, my wireless router took a dump so no online til I replace it. Still playing tho always on the grind baby xD

Level 28, and I'm getting bored of the grind, not the game.

I know from playing GT4 that any Gran Turismo game including fast cars and the Nuburgring has infinite replay value for me. After I 100% completed GT4, I spent tons of time just buying cars, testing them out, photographing, etc.

Unfortunately, being in a position to do that in GT5 is roadblocked by "the grind".

I still love the game though.

Wait for more seasonal events and race with your friends online dude. I never get bored racing with my friends, especially we are all using bluetooth and bsing during the race.
