Although the schedule of the World Rally Championship means that the top teams will be competing overseas during the Festival weekend, Ford will nonetheless ensure that a Focus WRC will be on the hill and this will hopefully be joined by a Subaru Impreza WRC. There will also be current Le Mans cars, still covered in dirt after their efforts at the 24-hour race, including the Audi R8 driven by Frank Biela and the stunning new Aston Martin DBR9, which will take the famous British marque back to Le Mans this summer for another shot at the race it famously won in 1959.
Oh look more info I found:
Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrates Racing Colours National Pride and Culture'
In 2005 the Festival of Speed celebrates the essence of what makes the cars and motorcycles of different countries so typical of their makers' cultures, passions and skills. It's about what makes a Ferrari so typically Italian, and a Mercedes unquestionably German; it's about what characterises an American car or even an American driver, in contrast to his or her Japanese counterparts; it's about what makes French designs so blatantly 'Franco', and British creations quintessentially 'Anglo'. It's all about the world of national racing colours and national racing spirit.
Made in Great Britain: On the hill will be a collection of standard-setting British Racing Green cars, from Blower Bentley to BRM V16, from Jaguar D-type to Aston Martin DBR9. Benchmark F1 constructors such as Williams, McLaren, Lotus and Tyrrell will be represented, along with some quirky British landmark designs and specials including the bold Ferguson P99 and unique Piper GTR. Great British racing heroes will also be in action, from legendary Sir Stirling Moss to five-times Le Mans winner Derek Bell and current F1 star Jenson Button.
Made in France: Arguably the greatest driver in the history of French motor sport four-time World Champion Alain Prost is expected to make his Festival debut in his title-winning 1989 McLaren-Honda MP4/5. Joining him will be former team-mate René Arnoux, Le Mans winner Jean-Pierre Jaussaud, GP winners Jacques Lafitte and Olivier Panis, as well as Frances most versatile star, Jean Ragnotti. French racing blue will also feature strongly, with pre-war Bugattis joined by a rarely-seen cluster of six Matra sports and single-seater cars.
Made in the USA: As ever, Goodwood will import around 30 important competition cars from the USA (see below). All the great American categories will be represented, including Indycar, NASCAR, TransAm and CanAm. So far as the drivers are concerned, Indycar stars Johnny Rutherford, Arie Luyendyk Al Unser Jnr and Danny Sullivan are among those already confirmed to attend, along with NASCAR legend Junior Johnson.
Made in Italy: Goodwood will be swamped in a sea of evocative Italian racing red to represent perhaps the most passionate nation in motor racing. From the dominant Alfa Romeo P2 of the 1920s and archetypal 1950s GP cars such as the Lancia D50 and Maserati 250F, right up to one of Michael Schumachers title-winning F1 cars provided by the Ferrari factory team, all the great cars will be in action. Italian sports cars proved equally effective whether run by the works teams (expect to see Arturo Merzario in an Alfa Romeo Tipo 33) or by private teams (a Ferrari 250 GTO in the green of Britain and a Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage in the white/blue of the USA are both expected). Also, rally hero Sandro Munari will be back behind the wheel of a Lancia Stratos.
Made in Germany: the extraordinary racing heritage of this mighty engineering nation is traced from the pre-war Mercedes-Benz SSKL in national racing white to the more familiar silver Mercedes and Porsche cars of the Fifties and Sixties (the white paint had to be stripped off the Mercedes W25 in 1934 to meet the new 750kg weight limit, and bare aluminium set a new colouring trend). Porsches sports car omnipotence is demonstrated through its 917, 956 and 962 cars, each wearing famous commercial liveries such as Gulf, Rothmans and Dunlop. And BMW celebrates 30 years of the all-conquering 3-series touring car. Great German drivers including Walter Röhrl, Jochen Mass, Hans Stuck and
Jo Winkelhock are all expected.
Made in the Antipodes: one of Australias best-loved sportsmen, legendary Bathurst racer Peter Brock, will make his long-awaited Festival debut in his James Hardie 1000-winning Holden Commodore V8. A rare Matich Group 7 car is also being shipped over specifically for the Festival, and three-time World Champion Sir Jack Brabham is also expected to attend. Representing New Zealands motoring heritage is a mighty orange CanAm sports car built and driven by racer Bruce McLaren, along with another great New Zealander, Denny Hulme.
Made in Japan: archetypal Japanese manufacturer Honda will celebrate 40 Years of Grand Prix Success with a stunning collection of cars and motorcycles (see below), while Nissan and Toyota also showcase their finest competition vehicles past and present.
In addition, the Festival will include fabulous competition machinery that represents the careers of champions from around the world, as follows:
Argentina: Juan Manuel Fangio (Mercedes-Benz W196) and José Froilan Gonzalez (BRM V16)
Austria: Jochen Rindt (Lotus-Cosworth 72) and Niki Lauda (Ferrari 312T)
Belgium: Paul Frere (Ferrari TR58) and Jacky Ickx (Porsche 936/77)
Brazil: Emerson Fittipaldi (Lotus-Cosworth 72), Nelson Piquet (Williams-Honda FW11B) and Ayrton Senna (McLaren-Honda MP4/4)
Canada: Gilles Villeneuve (Ferrari 312 T4) and Jacques Villeneuve (BAR-Honda)
Finland: Rauno Aaltonen (Mini Cooper S), Timo Makinen (Ford Escort RS1600 Mk1), Juha Kankkunen (Lancia Delta Integrale), Ari Vatanen (Ford
Escort RS1800 Mk2), Timo Salonen (Peugeot 205 T16), Tommi Makinen
(Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), Keke Rosberg (Williams-Honda), Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen (contemporary McLaren-Mercedes); and Hannu
Mikkola will be back in an Audi Quattro, both on the hill and Forest Rally Stage. For more than 40 years, Flying Finns have been at the forefront of motor sport remarkable from a country whose population numbers only five million.
Norway: Petter Solberg (Subaru Impreza WRC)
Scotland: Jim Clark (Lotus-Cosworth 49), Sir Jackie Stewart (Tyrrell-Cosworth 006), Colin McRae (Subaru Impreza WRC)
South Africa: Jody Scheckter (Ferrari 312 T4)
Spain: Carlos Sainz (Ford Focus WRC)
Sweden: Erik Carlsson (Saab 96), Björn Waldegaard (Ford Escort RS1800 Mk2) and Stig Blomqvist (Audi Quattro Sport)
Wales: former British Champion Gwyndaf Evans will be in action on the Forest Rally Stage in a Subaru Impreza Group N car
