It's driving me insane. I can't use MT in this game!!!!
as an aside. I have 2 cars IRL.... a 97 saturn with a 5 speed MT and a 2000 Firehawk with a 6 speed T-56 MT. That car also has an adjustable racing master cylinder and a 6 puck ceramic clutch and billet flywheel..... i think at this point i certainly prefer to row my own in life....
it is frustrating to no end the problem that i am experiencing in GT5 right now!!!!
essentially when i use the MT in GT5 and i go to change gears the game will skip as many as it wants. i could be in 1st and tap the R2 button to shift up and BAM i'm in 5th.... i could be approaching a corner and looking to downshift... tap L2 and POOF i'm over revving like mad in 2nd
I tried to troubleshoot. I tried changing to L1 R1 instead of the triggers and that was no help.
I did some static testing to see exactly how this issue behaves. It seems to be that any change in pressure issues a shift command to the game. meaning that should i press the R2 button and let's say that the game shifted to 4th. Then I remain holding the button without a change in pressure. There will be no further action. until i remove my finger from the button in question. at that point the game will once again shift.
Please note. I'm not implying that it only ever shifts 2 gears. if i literally SLAP the trigger it will only shift once. However, shifting in this way is uncomfortable and unnatural feeling... aside from the loud click from letting the trigger pop back out.
Normal button presses are what causes my problem. sometimes... one shift.... sometimes 2... sometimes it will go from whatever gear it's in all the way to the top or bottom.
I did not note this behavior when using my old GT4 era Driving Force Pro. those buttons are not analog and it appears that the analog function is what is confusing the game.
Anyone else experiencing this? I mean if it's not just me i'd say this is an AMAZINGLY bad oversight on someone at PD
