Well, I honestly dont think Sonys update caused my PS3 to die...that just sounds silly really. Im not sure what happened with it, but I will figure that out when I have the time and energy to break it apart. All I can say is, if it is Sonys issue...and it has caused failures, we will all find out eventually. At that point, I will get my $500+ back.....lol jk, kinda.[/QUOTE/]
Hey, that's a good 💡 there.
By the way, what type of fat PS3 you got and how did it die? Whenever you get to it and see if it's either the hardware or the updates with some tests, PM me here or add my PSN name niNJasPY55 with your results. I would love to hear them. Hopefully this can help. I played it again with a different PS3 game, it played for at least 20 minutes and then it suddenly stopped. Tried a PS1 game, and it works like it was brand new. I was thinking of reformatting the hdd and retrying the update, I'm saving this as a last resort after so many tries.

You might be on to something here. I know when my fatty died a while back... shouldn't say died, but lighted... it was more or less caused by an update that had the same effect on a lot of other folks. Never found a reason to it, nor have I tried updating that particular unit.
That said, I have rolled over in my mind that they (as in Sony) can release a patch that can recognize the unit itself. And I have also noticed this usually all happens in the silly season, usually before the 25th. Coincidence or not I'm not sure... but I do know I did by a slim and no more issues since
You too as well?!
So it seems there is a lot of people with perfectly good fats PS3, even if they got YLOD and were fixed and work all the way until now, they still die out in a wierd way. There's a forum site, it's the offical Sony playstation community.us( or different regions) playstation, I saw the lists of so many people with their fat PS3 listed and how they died from updates in the 3.00- to today. The conditions varied from perfect, ok, YLOD, bad hdd, internet problems and more. They all still play PS1/PS2/DVD and CDs but not blu-rays. It's like a epidemic that's plaguing all fat PS3 around the world.
