I'm proud to say that I have officially been soda-free for two months now. The last one I had was a week before my gallbladder surgery and I haven't had one since. I can definitely say that I feel a lot better, not always run down or tired all the time.

It'd definitely tempting some times, especially since my family still purchases it and it's always in the house. Thankfully I've been able to stick with water and juice. (apple juice ftw!)

Anyone else recently stop? What has been your experience?

I can never stop! I like juice, but I can't do it all the time. Only time I ever stopped was during basic training in '06.

You know most juices especially Apple juice are just as sugary as soda so its not a good idea to constantly drink that either.

I drink quite a lot of soda but I balance it out with lots of water and maybe drink something else for a few weeks.

I balance sodas/juices with beer mostly, usually 1 part soda and 8 parts beer to keep things running smoothly.
And water, I also drink water. Almost forgot about that.

Yeah I know this, I mostly drink water during the day and maybe a few cups of apple juice each week. This would be a no-sugar added juice as well. 👍

I try to regulate my soda intake. I keep myself limited to less than 2 a day. Often just one.

Honestly, I only drink water and alcohol (on occasions). I used to drink Snapple and Coca-Cola, but for some reason sugar drinks make me pretty sick now. I get a weird taste in my mouth after even a sip of a sugar drink, especially Coca-Cola/Pepsi. :yuck: Not sure why I can't drink soda anymore, but I like it. I've actually lost a substantial amount of weight because of it. Water is seriously the best, though! Anytime I'm thristy, a nice cold bottle of water will always hold me down.

H2O FTW! :p

^ that plus coffee (White no sugar). Nothing against juice or fizzy drinks but just prefer water...actually booze then water.

What do you mean here?
How many sodas did you use to drink and how did they make you feel tired?

I stopped drinking soda when I got a water cooler for my 16th birthday. Lost 20 lbs without doing anything else. But, of course, I love soda and sometimes you just need one. I found that diet coke w/ splenda is the best one. HFCS coke is disgusting. Diet coke has that awful aspartame flavor. DCw/S is just what I needed.

I used to drink as many as 3-4 a day. That cooled down to maybe a handful a week before my surgery. As weird as it seems, unlike most people really sugary drinks (including energy drinks) didn't really give me any energy they always made me really tired and sluggish.

^ You definitely did the right thing then. And I'm sure it must not have been that easy.

Anyway, I drink an average of 2 sodas per week. Not sure that makes any real difference on my health.

That's because your body is dumping insulin into your bloodstream to deal with all the sugar intake.

I pretty much stopped drinking soda after finishing college. The only time I have one now is if its part of a mixed drink (jack and coke) which is only occaisionally. Any time you can avoid relying on caffiene thats a good thing, not to mention keeping all those other crazy chemicals out of your body.

I drink pop only very rarely, and when I do it's typically a Diet Coke or something along those lines. I can't remember the last time I actually had a pop that wasn't Diet, Zero or Maxed. I do drink a lot of energy drinks but it's always Monster Zero or Sugar-Free Red Bull, I found that by doing away with the sugar from these they actually had the same affect as coffee.

Past that I do drink sparkling water like it's going out of style, typically I down an entire 2L bottle a day. I love the fizz that carbonated drinks provide so this seemed like the healthiest alternative.

Oh and iced tea, that is like the quintessential summer drink for me, along with any time I go to a restaurant. No sugar or lemon though, just straight up chilled black tea.

And funny enough I never hear anyone call pop "soda" in a conversation. @ regional dialects.

If you want to bring regional dialects into it, it's not even Pop over there. It's PAHP.

Only water for over 3 years here. That soda stuff is leathal to your health guys. (Aspartame).

I've traded soda for koolaid. Not really a healthier alternative, but that purple stuff is delicious.

I've been trying to cut down, been drinking a lot more water lately, occasionally I add some Mio or a Propel packet to add some flavor. Usually only have a pop with dinner.

I drink a can of coke a day, unless I leave the town while shopping. Can't resist Subway and their free refills offer...

Yup, can't tell you how many stories I've read about people OD'ing on Aspartame. I think that's what Heath Ledger died from... and Amy Winehouse.

I drink Arnold Palmer and Iced Tea.
And some water. Every now and then lemonade.
That's really it. I don't like fizzy drinks.
