Anyone else recently stop drinking soda pop?

I stopped drinking soda a couple years back. I probably average less than 1 can a month. Not big on juice either and don't drink energy drinks unless they are free.

I usually drink Iced/Sweet Tea & Lemonade, similar to what gatrs drinks. However, I still can't get used to drinking purified clear water. I mean, I have tons of it and even a machine that cools or heats supplied water (forgot what they're called). But I don't bother drinking them.

I would gladly trade soda for Juice but there are two problems:
1) The juice I like is usually quite a bit more expensive than soda
2) They don't sell any good juice at my school

I do drink water though and whenever I can and there is no juice I make myself some lemonade.

I stopped drinking them frequently for a few years now. I still have the occasional one usually to mix with rum or if there is nothing else to drink. My daily drink of choice now is simply water.

I don't think I could stop drinking pop. A lot of my work involves high levels of energy and the fructose syrup in 7-up or Sprite give me the energy boost. The beer I drink is probably not too healthy either, and I drink a lot of it.

Mostly though I drink tea. Throughout the day I'll have several pots of Earl Grey to balance the pop with water.

I limit myself to just 1 around lunch time, I'll stick to water for the rest of the day after that.

I'm proud to say that I have officially been soda-free for two months now. The last one I had was a week before my gallbladder surgery and I haven't had one since. I can definitely say that I feel a lot better, not always run down or tired all the time.

It'd definitely tempting some times, especially since my family still purchases it and it's always in the house. Thankfully I've been able to stick with water and juice. (apple juice ftw!)

Anyone else recently stop? What has been your experience?

I drink way way way less now. Today I got 2 cases Mexican Coca Cola this one has REAL sugar instaed of that corn syroup or whatever junk USA puts in their coke, as well the Mexican cola is in Glass Bottles which adds that cool factor. But I only drink that 1 355ml bottle a day. Rest of the time water and orange juice FTW! hehe

But I did stop having cream and sugars with my coffee or tea. that Stuff can be as bad as ice cream. Black coffee and black tea FTW!!! haha

Oi. I probably consume <20 grams of sugar per day, much less in one drink. I can’t remember the last time I had straight soda… the only time I have it now is as part of a well drink. And I don’t have those as often as I used to either.

Water, water, water, half a cup of coffee on weekdays (though trying to eliminate that too – elevates your cortisol for an unbelievable number of hours), and a few pints of beer a week (by far my greatest dietary sin, but hey, it’s also my hobby).

I used to drink a can of Coke just about every day, but for the last few months I've limited myself to just 1-2 a week.

This (arnold palmer half/half), water, milk, and beer are about the only liquids I consume.

Throw in the odd glass of orange juice too every once in a while.

I don't know if you can say that I'm a addict, but I drink a lot, mostly diet one's.

I say that I don't know if I qualify as an addict, because I have stopped before with no problems. I think the main thing for me is caffeine? As long as I drink lots of coffee & tea, I don't even miss soda. But as the weather gets warmer, I start drinking double gulps, cans after bottles after cans of soda. I think they are more of habit thing for me.

P.S. AP Half/Half are awesome. I recently tried their "Zero", not nearly as good.

I don't drink soda that much, it hurts my throat lol

Me too. I hate drinking carbonated beverages including soda because it hurts my throat and can't bear how it bubbles in my mouth - mostly have milk or other drinks without fizz.

But it's bitter!

Correction: Most of the time it is too sweet. Unless you manage to find a brand that sells it unsweetened, in that case, it is just as bitter as the hot one, but you can taste it better because it is not hot.

I used to drink around 3 cans of Coca Cola a day. But like 3 months ago mom stopped buying pop. So now I'll have like 1 Dr. Pepper every 2 weeks. It was hard for my body to adjust to that change, I had bad headaches for awhile after I reduced the amount I consumed.

pssh i gave up coke when i went to boot camp 5 years ago for 3 months...and proud to say im still drinking it...i dont care i love the stuff.

'Pop' as we call it over here ( Soda, soft drinks, mineral water, etc as known elsewhere ) is supposed to be the #1 killer, even higher than cigarettes, alcohol or white bread. IIRC, I read this several years ago in a survey.
It's the sugar that kills you - hence the love affair with carcinogenic artificial sweetners.
I, myself, am addicted to root beer (a kind of soda, anyway) but I try to keep my consumption down to one a day.
Unfortunately - we seem to always like stuff that's bad for us, hm?
