There is far too many of these "70 MPH" or "cruise" lobbys going around at the moment and they are defeating the point of the game and thats to race and have a laugh but when ever i seem to load up gt6 or gt5 is these sort of lobbys are all that i can join. What happened to the sort of rooms where i could join in get my new cars out or a car of my choice and race it against other people im not fussed if its clean or dirty i'm happy to race ether way but thats the problem there isn't lobbys to race in any more. i know what some smart little kids going to say "why don't you create a room" i could do that but the time it takes to get a room of maybe 5 you've already had enough of playing the game and you've moved on to other stuff. if theres anyone out there that want's to get some proper racing going again don't hesitate to get in touch with me and we will set something up just fed up with these silly lobbys now and all people seem to do in them is argue. in my opinion there ruining one of my favourite games granted they need to bring these DLC's out faster but the main problem is its very difficult to find good races now days
LETS HAVE RACES LIKE IN THE INTRO VIDEOS!!

Yes I agree. What the hell is the point of cruising? If I want to cruise I will go hop in my real car or bike and cruise.

exactly there is no need for them you spend you normal life driving round at 30 mph i don't want to spend my time on a game doing the same speed

What are you, Big Brother? Why does it matter what someone else does with the game? Do your own thing and everyone else will do theirs.

I'm with Johnny on this. Someone who prefers cruising, drag-racing or drifting for that matter, should have an opportunity to enjoy it if they wish to.

True, IF you join the correct lobby. About 99% of the "Cruise" lobbies I've joined fall under the definition of Cruising I posted above. If you join the correct lobby however, it's great fun!

That's why it's a huge game with lots of options.

Everyone do what they want. Want to cruise, you're free for it. Want to race, you're free to race.

Just avoid the lobbies.

Plus, there's an AWESOME community of proper cruisers around here. Respect those folks.

While I don't get the appeal of cruise lobbies either, I don't think anybody should judge something others clearly have a lot of fun with. However, it is true that the lobby list is full of cruise rooms. An easy fix for the problem would be to have cruise rooms marked as such and the possibility to filter them out.

But then again somebody at PD would have to think for more than a minute about how the game is used and adjust it accordingly.

I'm not here to criticize what you're saying but... You say defeat the point of the game and yes I somewhat agree but still, it is called "The Real Driving Simulator" not the "The Real Racing Simulator" so therefore cruise lobbies aren't exactly a bad thing. I myself enjoy the occasional cruise and if you don't just ignore them.

if you want some serious , clean races , then check out the links in my signature. i host online leagues. i want only the best drivers. best does not mean who can turn the fastest lap times, it means who can actually drive without crashing or bumping into others, who drive responsibly.

i'm not having a dig at those that do cruise by all means cruise but why is that all i can find no one races anymore takes too long to get a room where you can actually race

It really does take longer than it should. It would be nice to have automatic lobbies with like skill identifiers or something. Or quick search with keywords.

A smarter better filter system will clear all this up, but we are stuck with a weak a** filter that PD made.

Hi! Josh. :)
You gave yourself the answer already - here:

i know what some smart little kids going to say "why don't you create a room" i could do that but the time it takes to get a room of maybe 5 you've already had enough of playing the game and you've moved on to other stuff.

Most people probably feel just as you do, and don't bother to start up a room that can actually be titled as a 'Race for ____' room.
Conversely it seems that many players (drivers) choose to cruise - though not always at 70 MPH. I have participated in high-speed cruises that had us bumper to bumper or wing to wing, the fastest in the pack riding point and controlling the overall speed of the pack. If someone spins out or crashes, the pack accordians and regroups till we are in a position to cruise again.
Happens in TDU2 and is happening a lot in GT6 because (a): it's possible, and (b): it is significantly popular(obviously enough for someone to create a discussion on it.)
There is a stronger social net-working element connected with cruising that doesn't come with the almost sterile and statistical atmosphere of pure racing. In the end one's opinion about what can be experienced in cruising is only limited to the imagination that creates the rooms and the themes behind them.

....................they are defeating the point of the game and thats to race and have a laugh...........

That, Josh, is a matter of opinion. While not everybody may disagree, others may have their own - and vastly different viewpoint on that.

.
If theres anyone out there that want's to get some proper racing going again don't hesitate to get in touch with me and we will set something

Now here's the answer. And you are instinctively on the right path. :)
GTPlanet is the hub, the hot-spot on the 'net when it comes to anything Gran Turismo related, whether fact, fiction, boast or triumph, scathing opinion to glowing praise - this is the place for it - and so attracts a lot of . . . you guessed it; racer-types. ;)
Clubs and leagues abound here (I wish I had the time and commitment; my favourite league keeps e-mailing me :( ) and you can join up with one of them for consistently fair and progressively skilled racing, and you can also start up your own group.
So now that you've sent a shout-out (via this thread) hopefully you will have some FRs from like-minded people or some PMs right here that help you set up dates and times for when you are going to be on and looking for some racing and some laughs..
The most important criteria being - timing - when it comes to grouping for a cause - even if only to race online on GT6

As for the rest of the topic -

Filters! :D

Let's face it, the game is slowly dying so whatever people need to do to keep it alive for them, let them!

On the other hand, a game like this, you really need a good friend list of drivers to have a really good time online. If you don't know anyone and just "stray" around, it's hard to find good rooms (been there done that).

So, my advice is to add people to your friends list whenever you find a good room and then look out for them whenever you're online.

I thought i was the only one who didn't get these 'cruise' lobbys! GT6 is a Racing Simulator, not a substitute of driving on the motorway.

I agree with Bluntified about maintaining a full friends list. Also with earlier comments about the need for improved filters for online - what happened to the community features which I thought we were getting in January.

But I've also noticed something odd about GT6 - it doesn't accurately list the available rooms. I mostly use friends only rooms, but when we use public lobbies we have a devil of a job to find each other - no matter how many times you select refresh it rarely displays public rooms set up by my friends and we have to faff about sending the room number.

There are an increasing number of lobbies titled "Cruise" or "UK Law" or "70mph" etc, but I am sure that when Josh looks for a room, based on my experience, the game is only displaying a tiny proportion of the available rooms - presumably this is some kind of PD / Sony server issue?

Yes, other people cruising in their own lobbies are ruining your game.

Some of you complain too much IMO.

The amount of facepalm in this thread is astounding...

The "Oh u cud just go crews out irl insted of crewsin in our game bro" argument could be just as valid with you guys saying that GT is just for racing. If you think the people that use the game for cruising should just go and drive in "real life", why can't the argument of you just go out and race in real life be used against you?

It's like asking your teacher a question and the teacher saying "Just google it."

tl;dr for tha bros yo

Get over your senseless selfishness. People like to play the game how they like to play it. If you can't understand that then maybe you should take some time off and do some irl bro.

As someone said before, GT6 is called "The Real Driving Simulator," not "The Racing Simulator," so even though racing is it's main focus doesn't mean that's all it has to be.

Also, GT6 has an array of cars to choose from, cars that I doubt you can afford to keep, with no worry about breaking it or paying for gas. Gas isn't cheap anymore just so you can drive about, plus you have people who do no deserve licenses on the roads, so you have to comfort of being... INDOOORS (Take it away penny!). GT6 gives the chance to cruise in cars with no worry and some people like that. Also, some people don't always want to race everyday all day. Cruising is a way to find relaxation vs driving fast.

I understand that you may want to race but keep seeing all of these cruise rooms, but I do see PP races online available to join and there are organized clubs and leagues to join on GTPlanet. Did you go check that out?
