I just bought an Xbox360+Forza3 for a few days ago (Got tired of waiting for GT5) and I must say I am impressed how good the sim part is. Racing the hell out of Forza3 right now :D

Why not enjoy Forza3 now and GT5 when it hits the shelfs ;)

That would be the ideal solution if we all had Xbox 360s

Sadly i don't :(

I'm sure i would love it, but i'll always be a GT man (unless of course, something better comes along :p)

EDIT: Like the Santa hat on that smily :) 👍

But as I pointed out earlier, what is "too long"? Its only been an extra year or two, and considering they are developing far superior graphics, physics and incorporating much-asked for features as well (not to mention the "1000 cars"), is that really so hard to be patient for?

I mean, its not like PD have a record of taking ages developing bad games, we know they are going to make a brilliant game, so why is it so hard to wait?

We don't even know whats in the game yet, they could have produced the most epic game ever, with hundreds of licensed series in it for all we know. The point is, I don't get how you think its "too long", it either suggests they are being lazy or the work they do isn't worth the time. Do you have any reason to think either of these things?
Over 6 years is what makes it to long.
And why couldn't thye release GT5, around last christmas, with less cars, less features, etc, etc, and saved extras for GT6, to come out 2-3 years later.

I'm not talking GT5P less, I'm talking GT3 less.150-200 cars, 15 tracks would have been fine with me. Maybe tag it along with an option for Americans to go to GT academy if they're fast enough? If they can bring people to Europe all the way from Australia, surely they could come from right over the Atlantic, right?
Or is there some other reason?

Owned an original Xbox and Forza 1, and played the hell out of it. I currently own an Xbox 360 and Forza2, played the hell out of it. Tried Forza 3, did like 2 laps, never touched again. It was just terrible.

If they can bring people to Europe all the way from Australia, surely they could come from right over the Atlantic, right?

It's not about distance. Australia is under PAL territories and always has (when the PAL format was developed) so we are under SCEE. SCEE is controlling GT Academy, whatever goes on in the US is upto SCEA, those are the guys you need to talk to.

There's a difference between a fan and a fanatic, I'm on here and I'm only a fan, I find it very hard to get fanatical about things because when you're fanatical your judgment usualy goes out the window. I'm not knocking your enthusiasm though, you arn't alone in that, but a fanatical viewpoint is never as good as a balanced one. And without wishing to offend, this is coming across in your posts now.
You implied, and don't try to say you didn't. Your words were "they don't release their games to other people before me intentionally.". Either you've put what you meant very badly, or you are implying that it's important that you recieve the games first.
How does it mean "first", and not "same time"
Like I said, you're putting words in my mouth, (err. fingers)
Why does being upset that other countries are getting benfeits from this company, while mine gets squat mean I want it first/best? I specifiaclly asked for equal, nothing else. Any meaning you looked into past that is beyond my control.

You know that even if they did offer the game as a download (which they won't since the maximum file limit is way below 40Gig) that you will get the game early. You won't. The DL version wouldn't be available online until the day the game officially goes on sale anyway. That's marketing and it's sensible.
But if it was downloadable that takes your whole argument about marketing, production, shipping, blah, blah blah, out the window.
And yes, I can download 40 gig's in less than 7 hours, so even if it IS a FULL blu-ray disc, which is unlikely, I'd still download it, because it's take less than the 2-3 months your claiming shipping and packaging takes.

It's important, very important. You wouldn't make a good business man I can you that now. Like I said at the start of this post, a fanatical view is a flawed view. And your view is full of fantaicism.
No it's not. we covered that. My view is not without criticism. thereby is not fanatical. In fact, it's quite the opposite. But, you read a sig, and decided it meant the world. Oh well.
It's not technically free, you had to buy the PSP first. It's nothing more than a twis on the console + game bundles you see all over the palce.
So why can't I get it?

You're kidding right? Beucase it's not being run in America. GT Academy is not a cheap venture, it's costing Sony a lot of money. You have your own scheme, winning tickets to the Indy 500, we arn't getting tickets to the Silverstone GP. Sure you might prefer one over other but at least you have something. GT Academy is being from Europe, that's why the entrants are here. If you were that bothered you could always create UK PSN account and DL the GT Acedmy trial and if you win fly over to the UK for the next stage. I don't think they'd be bothere if you made your own way here.
Australians can go. Last I checked, they were a much longer journey than I.

In other words, you would rather the Japanese release was held back to match the EU and US relsease rather than Japan get the game when it's ready for them.
Why would it be ready for them sooner? What, you really think a language change takes time? All it takes is one guy who speaks
two languages, or God forbid, a computer that can translate. Which would take.... oh I don't know, 4 seconds? I doesn't take 3 months to package and ship 3 million discs.
You'll never get that ideal balance because the ideal is different for each and every one of us. There are more American cars in GT4 than there are American cars in Forza 3, there are more European cars in GT4 than there are European cars in Forza 3. Regardless of GT4 having a Japanese bias, it's not like we're limited to a puny few cars from other regions.
That's the problem. We don't have ANY puny cars from America. That's what irritates me. But we have a metric ton of Japanese puny cars.
And your numbers are comparing a game with "700" cars against a game with 400. So of course there's "more" in GT4. That doesn't make either perfect. I don't know squat about Forza, It's just the only real console sim I know of besides GT.

This isn't close to racial discrimination, it lacks both the importantce and the ethics. This is business, simple as that. The game is in production, it's being made by a Japanese company, based in Japan, by a Japanese workforce. The first iteration of the game is Japanese, so why hold that one back when there's no conflict for release until they have the US and EU versions ready? Global launches can and do happen, but there's still just as much work involved in making the game as staggered releases if not more so in terms of coordination. So a global release isn't giving you the game early, it's giving the Japanese the game late. I don't see any reason to do that. If it really bothers you that much simply import the game.
Did I call it racial discrimination? Oh, is this where you put another spin on my words? America/Europe/Australia is not a race, last I checked.

It does because you arn't seeing the bigger picture. You've admited that you're fanatical but you so far failed to see how this is creating a huge overreaction from yourself.
Oh God, again with this. And it was just covered before you posted this.
motivated or characterized by an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics.
Am I uncritical?
Check your fanatic synonyms for a deeper understanding of my meaning by the sig you can't take your eyes off of..
enthusiast, devotee refer to persons showing more than ordinary support for, adherence to, or interest in a cause, point of view, or activity. Devotee is a milder term than any of the foregoing, suggesting enthusiasm but not to the exclusion of other interests or possible points of view: a jazz devotee.
I picked the ones out with actual relevance to my meaning in my sig, whereas you seem to have picked out worst case scenario everywhere possible to adhere to your case.

And with a worldwide leaderboard, it would be impossible to have this a worldwide thing, right? They can clearly connect all of them, since this is the internet, so, not really an excuse. Plus, PD does have a hand in it.
Frankly it seems well, stupid. Just because if it was worldwide they would actually get all of the best. (they are actually going to try to make a racecar driver out of the winner, after all)
I don't have a reasonable chance anyway, it's more the shun. that and the free game for anyone but me. And regular everyday cars for everyone but me.
Just for those who can't (you're out there somewhere) discern the meaning of "me" it goes for everyone not included.

Yes, there is a world wide leaderboard but each region has their own marketing teams dedicated to market the game they see fit in their region. PD is not a publisher, thats Sony's (SCE branches) job.

I guess you don't read or don't understand. How can you know its taken "too long" when you don't know what we are getting yet? You're just judging it on assumptions of its content.

I understand where you're coming from. But Life's a Beach and you can't always get what you want. :sly:

Agreed.
I just think if this was something different, and we weren't all so starved for something like it, (provided there were other viable options) we might stray.

I don't know, it seems somewhat pointless to bother anymore, being I've already waited 6 years, but being given the oppourtunity to relive the past 3 years, I would honestly have bought an XBOX, and enjoyed not one, but two fully developed racing sim games.
Maybe they wouldn't be as good, but you can't really get worse than having nothing for your console for it's entire lifespan of 3 years, and before GT5 does come out, 3.5 years.
that's 3.5 years for one of only two types of games I play.

I guess what I'm entirely saying is, these guys are foolish, and not only have they already lost customers, but given the current state, I'll be buying GT5 used, just so they don't get money from me, and next time, I'll probly go XBOX. Not because I'd rather have their product, but because I could actually use their product. That is, of course, if Sony/PD's current actions continue.

No, you don't read or understand.
I don't care what's in it. 6.5 years is TOO LONG. End of story.
There is not one single reason you can give me that they could not have offered GT5P in a fuller form, (called GT5) maybe 6 months later, with double the cars, and triple the tracks, and then offered what we'll be calling GT5 as GT6 sometime around next christmas.

In reality, the cars aren't the problem, it's the lack of tracks and the online options/menu/playability are just simply awful when compared to other racing games.
So a simple add of about 9 tracks, and some real online options/gameplay, would combine for a very enjoyable fun game, that lasts more than a short while, in the midst of a 6.5 year hiatus.
Because the bottom line in this issue is, in 3 years, my choice of buying Sony's Playstation 3 has netted me drop dead 0 racing sims.
compare that to the competition's 4 years and 2 racing sims.

Just an fyi, those FC and INDY games certainly don't count. not by a long shot, but that's another topic and thread, for each.

No, you don't read or understand.
I don't care what's in it. 6.5 years is TOO LONG. End of story.
See, you said it right there - you don't care. By sheer admittance, you have no clue what the final game will shape up like, and are just whining like an impatient baby.

If the competition is so good, go and buy a 360 with FMIII and enjoy it instead of crying over how your investment in PS3 netted you 0 racing sims like that's all you bought it for

OP, consider yourself lucky that you'll get the game at all. Many American and European produced games never make it to Japan because their makers can't be bothered to do the translation and/or find retailers.

6.5 years? GT4 released in early 2005 (Japan in Dec 2004), 6.5 years doesn't add up.

HHHMMMMM... Why are you still stressing about GT5??? Leave the hype... Go do something else... wash your car... cut the grass... read a book... I dont know... Ive stopped worrying about GT5 AGES ago... At a certain point you must realize that its only a game afterall... PD and Sony dont owe us anything really, if you think about it... All I know is that the game is taking very long but I believe that will only benefit the game in the end and you will see this when it does release.... In the meantime theres plenty of other stuff to do in this world isnt there?? Its not like PD/Sony said we promise this game will be out then and then, its been a known fact that that PD takes their time. The only thing I can agree on in this entire thread is that I think they should just do a worldwide release on the same date... All big games have done that lately and I think GT5 should be no different...

2007 Ps3.... GT5 isn't here

2008 GT5 prologue...what about GT5??

No one is saying you can't or shouldn't buy Forza, not like we are only limited to one game.

I am playing forza 3 and Enthusia professional racing while waiting GT5. I have no problem with their release date but would be dissapointed if game does not bring something new compared to forza after long time of development. Even if they only would make fanatec wheels work right with the game and made steering animation 1:1, i would be happy with the game. I do not care about visual damage or real time weather if animation or poor ffb coding spoils the fun. GT6 might come 2012 and PS4 after that in couple of years.

I have still happier memories with GT4 than forza 3 even it forza much better game. I am a GT guy, i can not help it :)

It's not like I'm cheating on GT, just warming up. You see, I'm tired of waiting(like everyone here) and I'm sure that GT5 will show up here in europe earliest in late summer, until that time I'll be racing on the second best racing game :D

Frankly it seems well, stupid. Just because if it was worldwide they would actually get all of the best. (they are actually going to try to make a racecar driver out of the winner, after all)

I'm sorry you feel that way, and I doubt anything I or somebody else is saying can actually convince you that there isn't a conspiracy at work.

There is no vendetta going on, it's simple economics. One subsidiary chose to offer the GT academy, which is partly done by Nissan just to remind you, the other gives you the opportunity to get VIP treatment at Indy.

Markets are made up and shaped largely at will - a age group, nation, unified economic area such as the US or the EU, because companies try to squeeze the optimum out of each individual customer or a group of customers they can identify having similar preferences, income, cultural background and so on.

I like to remind you that GT initially was aimed only at the Japanese market, and with every iteration it has become a bit more cosmopolitan.

Again, there's going to be Nascar featured (heavily?) in the game. You can't really go much further than that trying to please the American gamers.

No, you don't read or understand.

Sadly I have to agree. We'll be waiting another 6 months at best (I think) before we can play GT5.
I know they want to make it perfect and all, and if they succeed in bringing new features and online modes, I'll even forgive them, but it's still an awful long wait.

Personally I would have preferred a 'big GT5:Prologue' as GT5.

I didn't think it would take this long, but at the same time, I was atleast prepared for the possibility of no GT5 until 2010, and therefore I am not angry or shocked at PD for anything. I suspect that pressure to release a GT title for the PSP has hindered the release of GT5, but yet I still don't think that the wait is all that unacceptable...

Perhaps they could have released "GT5: Prologue 2" :dopey: with another set of tracks and another set of cars, but at the same time, this would just have set back GT5 even further, and as such would almost certainly have been counterproductive.

In the meantime, GT PSP, Forza 3, and any number of other driving titles on the market exist to fill the void, but no matter how disgruntled one can get at a lack of GT5, and no matter how much the other players in the market can fill the gap, there will always be an unavoidable truth that stares me in the face - Gran Turismo 5 is the game I want, and there is virtually no limit to how long I am prepared to wait for it.

^^^ I think since they are getting to release it in a demo anyway, they should let us download the Indy GP track into Prologue. I would be happy with that, since we could use all the GT5:P cars on it and online racing. :)

Gran Turismo 5 is the game I want, and there is virtually no limit to how long I am prepared to wait for it.

Yes!

After launch sony could calculate if it had been worth to emply 100 people more on game get it out sooner. More sales game and ps3 early could have paid off the extra sallaries. (no but is it really good thing ps3 sells wells as sony still does not get money it takes to made one? :) )

They already spent 50-60 million dollars - sales have to be enormous already ;)

They can't do another GT3 again not when Forza's around with far more content compared to what you listed it would damage the GT brand.

Actually if you think of it a bit more they do not have to be.

Game costs $60 so they would only need to sell 1 million games, which is quite small number for a GT game.

they don't make 60$ per game, shipping, handling, etc. i doubt they make half of that, 30, on every sale, but it will sell around 9-10 millions copies like every GT game.

The shops take a bulk of the sale price. There are two ways selling something can work you (the shop) can either buy the product, in this case the game, direct from the supplier (in this case Sony) and then sell it and whatever you make ontop of what you bought it for is profit-ish. Or the supplier gives you the game for free, you sell the game, the supplier takes the profit and you recieve a commission from the supplier for the sales. Eitherway, Sony don't pocket the retail price of the game. even before you take away the base running and production costs, advertising costs and develpoment costs associated with producing the game. Then they've also got to try to make enough profi on the major titles to cover any defecit on games that perhaps don't meet sales expectations and to help make up losses incurred elsewhere.
