Anyone going back to GT5?

Really? With the cones? Top Gear was possibly the biggest disappointment of GT5, and there were many.

Besides the track is rubbish anyway

To each their own. I liked driving it… a lot. Tested a lot of cars there and even had a great 'Star in a reasonably priced car' competition running with everyone who came over to visit :)

Yeah fair enough. Although I still reckon the track itself is ordinary and it's purely the TV show that made it popular.

PD really bombed the whole Top Gear thing. The fact that they dropped the track for GT6 is a testament to that, what a waste of money!

Never left GT5, been playing it recently again after about a two year down time, I'm actually enjoying the experience more now after such a long time without playing it. I'm starting from the lowest PP and working up, I'm going to try and drive every car bar the duplicates.

I will move on to GT6 one of these days but I have so much GT5 to play that it will be unlikely that I get GT6 before 2015. Hopefully by then GT7 will be making some noise.

Just don't see the point IMO of bothering with GT5. Almost everything is carried over and all aspects (again, IMO) of the game are better in GT6. I particularly hated the rotational used dealership. What a crap idea that was! Glad that PD got rid of it this time round. No enduros? Lovely, I don't want to be driving for 9 or 24 hours, thanks very much.

If by ordinary mean 'boring' I disagree. There are many different types of bends in there, especially considering it is such a short track. It is fun (okay, that's subjective) and challenging to be fast, regardless of what type of car you drive on it, which is certainly not the case for all tracks.

Having said that, I don't think I'd give up any of the new tracks in GT6 for the TGTT.

still going back to GT5, aswell as playing GT6 ... enjoy them both

I don't see how they are unfinished. To me, the menus are more organized. For instance, in the "My Home" screen, everything is in neat columns unlike GT5, where everything is separated in a clutter of different sized boxes.

There's no community tab, for example. When I want to join an open lobby there's no method of telling the PP/tire/weight/etc limit currently in effect - simply there 'is' one. The layout I find to simplified and worse in general, but aesthetics are subjective.

I disagree. There is more variety in terms of events than in GT5 as far as offline career goes.

Variety is one thing, amount is another. And the AMOUNT of single player content is far less, this is unquestionable.

Press up on the directional pad.

Thanks 👍

Again, GT5 is no better. The Mitsubishi i-Miev says hi. At least the Range Rover is the first premium SUV.

That sounds like nit-picking. There are a lot of other good cars that still haven't made it like the BMW M3 E30, but PD still added quite a number of popular cars people wanted like the Ferrari FXX, Lamborghini Diablo, and Cadillac CTS-V.

Not going to disagree that GT5 wasn't guilty of the same stuff, but you know, they could have fixed it. You really have to wonder who decides to model a premium Nissan Leaf and Evoke when they could have made a model of a Marcos 3-litre or a Lancia Fulvia, or Honda CRX or something people would actually want. Who goes "Ah that Nissan Leaf, that's a car I really want to give a thrash round Brands Hatch!".

Ah, those are easy ones. Default PD answer, will be addressed in a later update!

Don't know about thrash, but crashing the horrid little thing, defo!

Can't believe BMW's M1 Procar isn't in. I can only hope BMW has refused the license on the grounds they don't want their straight 6 masterpiece sounding like a hairdryer. Imagine the league you could have if they included it with all the F1 drivers liveries!

Once PD pulls the plug from the servers and stops putting out new seasonals you can forget GT5 anyway.

Ah, the M1, you have superb 80's taste 👍. There's a million deserved cars that deserve a premium model, the Range Rover Evoke certainly isn't one of them!

Other 80's things I'd like a premium model of are the AW11 MR2 and the Lancia Montecarlo.

EDIT: and the Fiat X1/9 :)

Why thanky ou kind Sir. A little Montecarlo would be a welcome additioan to ones garage.

Seeing as they like including concepts, I'd also like to see another rarity - RS1700T. Bit of a peperami!

I'd never even heard of that thing before, did it ever reach production? I see a few pictures on google but I guess they might be replicas?

No it didn't reach production. It was a 1.8 (EDIT:1.7 RWD & 4WD) prototype that was developed for Group B in 1980. It had a blown Cossie engine and had over 300hp. They had some probs with it that couldn't be resolved, so they dumped it to build the RS200 (ironically it was the RS200 that was a major culprit for the demise of Group B). There's loads of replicas but I think there were 23 (EDIT: looking into it closer, it seems there were 18/19 cars) cars built by Ford/Reliant, to my knowledge Ford still have one or more still in their possession.

Alot of the development and technology from both went into the Cosworths that we know and love today. Did you know that Ford still have a shed load of RS200's that were unsold sat doing nothing?

When you do a Google image search, the black & white pics are real, the rally test shots are real and there's also a pic with 4 RS's on a track with Ford execs around them.

Have you seen the next gen rally machines that were to come from Lancia and Audi for the planned Group S? Good god, 1000hp monsters!

That front grill looks very much like the RS500's grill.

I had heard about the supposed RS200's in a warehouse, I can believe it to be honest. It'd be interesting to know what happened to the 23 RS1700T's made by Ford, I bet at least one of them is in a motor museum here in the UK - I'll keep a look out.

Group S seemed pretty much the same as Group B to me, they we're fairly insane, Toyota had a planned AW11 MR2 (well, the general shape of one anyway) to fit into Group S/B category, that was also something that failed to materialise, much like th RS1700T i presume.

Nearly all were disassembled with the parts going on to be used in other projects, some destroyed in testing I'd imagine.
But......

That can't be the only one left surely? Where abouts in the world was that photo taken?

No idea where it was photographed, but it was in UK at a Ford dealership/show.

Last I knew, 5 are in the UK (Malcom Wilson owns one, rallye spec I believe!), rumour of 1 in the US and a couple to South Africa (funnily enough, Vauxhall had a production Atra GTE in SA, but with the turbocharged 204hp Cavalier/Calibra lump).

A guy owns one of the 5 here in Yorkshire, there's one in the Midlands and I've no idea which part of the UK the other 3 are.

Apart from Ford's (pic above), all surviving tubs are privately owned as far as I know.

You can buy the poor mans RS1700T still, Series 1 RS Turbo.

No.

Besides, I erased all my GT5 game save and game data utility. And I got rid of it too...

I really want GT6, but for the first time I am feeling doubts. It's just all the things people are mentioning about the game regarding glitches and stuff. I can't buy it yet anyway.

From what I hear, GT5 was the same, if not worse, at launch. I dare say it will be updated and fixed, with other content added. We can only hope that Kaz honours his word.

I wouldn't let the problems sway your decision, the car control is way better. Vast majority of cars have poor sound, some sound very good and some have had an improvement over GT5 (Peugot 908 has defo been changed). Sound updates are said to be patched at a later date. I'd by it, after all it can only get better not worse.
