Now, I don't want any nonsense about testicles in here. I'm talking about a serious problem.
I'm not allergic (I love nuts), but my wife is, so we have to maintain a nut-free house. Trouble is, this is kinda hard, because all the food retailers have got totally paranoid about nut allergies, and so are printing "May not be suitable for nut allergy sufferers" on the label. Our local supermarket has this pre-printed on all the in-store bakery labels, so even plain morning rolls are allegedly unsuitable.
I'd like to see two kinds of labels, one saying "This product has been made in an environment in which nuts are used", and "This product contains nuts". That way, people who are very sensitive can keep away from products with the former label on them, and people who have to actually eat a nut to get a reaction can keep away from products with the latter label on them. UK sandwich chain Pret a Manger does something similar.
Anyone else have issues with nut allergies?
