Hi,

I live in Iceland but I will be in Manchester the weekend that GT comes out and I wanted to know if anybody here knew about a place where I could pick up the Collectors edition in the city of Manchester.

Anyone here that could help ?
 
Do you mean the Signature Edition? The only high street stores carrying that are GAME and Gamestation. However, it might need pre-ordering first.

The Collectors Edition is only available online from Amazon and Play (in the UK at least).

I'd help out but I don't live in/near Manchester.

Actually I was hoping to pick up the collectors edition for 60 pounds. But if the Signature edition is the only one available in-stores for 140 pounds I am going to need a lot of negotiations with the wife :)

According to Game's and Gamestation neither one of them offers the Collectors edition but Play does :(

The collectors edition is only available online.

And only the standard and signature edition are in Game/Gamestation.

No problem BaldurKn, happy to help.

Just to confirm things for you, the only way you can get the cheaper Collectors Edition is to order from either Play.com or Amazon. It will not be stocked as a new retail item in any high street stores. The Signature Edition is exclusive to the GAME Group, so is available from www.game.co.uk, www.gamestation.co.uk, and www.gameplay.co.uk as well as their high street stores.

Who are you staying with in the UK? Could you ask them to pre-order a copy of the Colletors Edition for you from Amazon and use next-day delivery to guarantee its arrival for a certain time?
 
I'll be staying at an hotel, maybe I could pre-order and have it delivered there. I'm kind of afraid about the time being to little. I'll only arrive on Friday and leave on Monday so the delivery would have to be spot on for me to make that.

But if they deliver on the 3rd or 4th it might arrive in time. I'm clueless :)

So you arrive on Friday 5th? Amazon UK offers first class delivery that is typically within two days. They also offer an express delivery option that is guaranteed next day. New releases are usually shipped out in advance of the actual release date anyway, so I would think that first class delivery would see the games arrival certainly before you depart. If not, I'm sure they would be more than happy to forward it onto your home address at a cost.

Having things delivered to a hotel is common practice. I've done it a couple of times when I've left things too late! For security, just call the hotel in advance to let them know you will be expecting a package either before or during your stay.

You should get the game pre-ordered and delivered to your house, and just rent a copy when your in Manchester.

The problem is I live in Iceland and over here everything is so expensive because of tax and customs. A standard version here is going to cost me about 60 pounds. That is why I'm trying to buy the Collectors Edition while I'm in the UK for that same amount. I won't be playing the game in Manchester just trying to save some cash :)

There is are 2 GAME stores in the Manchester Arndale which are both easy to find as the Arndale is basically a square shopping centre.

BOTH GAME stores are on the ground floor, one is near WHS Smith and Thorntons (chocolate shop) and the other is in 'Winter Garden' which is a long straight of shops and is next to HMV.

There is also a Gamestation, but they have moved stores in the shopping centre and I'm not sure where the new one is based. There is definitely one as I remember seeing it not that long ago but I can't remember where it was.

Danny I'm not moving there just visiting :) Sure it is very beautiful here but very expensive after our krona crashed in the recession.

He wants the Collectors Edition because in his country, the standard copy is equivalent to £60. So, which store is he going to buy a copy of this from, as it's online only from Amazon and Play?

Nor is he moving to Manchester... It is a trip over a long weekend, that's all, and the reason for that trip is, quite frankly, none of our business.

It sounds like torture to me. Sat in a hotel room, with copy of gt5 and room sevice, but not ps3. I guess you will be one of the few who will read the book before starting the game.

at reception the next morning
'We have had complaints of loud crying coming from your room sir. Are you ok?'

'
'I have a copy of gt5, no ps3 and that bas@#rd of a volcano has erupted again and I can't get home to play it. You would cry too'
 
HAHAHAHA That is probably true OAB4nd1t. I'll just stop by the volcano before I leave and throw a bottle of soap down it's entrance to make sure it doesn't erupt for at least the next two weeks ;)
