Anyone know what car this belonged to?

I can't really tell you where I got this (No, I didn't steal it), but I only know a few things about it.

1. Cadilac was building a concept car between 2000 and 2009. For this concept car, Cadilac wanted Stuben to produce glass wheel covers for the center of the wheels on this concept car. (Hence, what I have pictured below)

2. I also know that only one concept car was made by Cadilac for this piece, and that the car actually worked as well.

3. Only ten of these Stuben glass wheel coverings were made for Cadilac, and a few of them got destroyed in the process of testing the concept car as they fell off the wheels during a drive. Today, only about five or six of these still exist.

4. Cadilac bagged the project not long after.

Does anyone know about this, or have any idea as to what car this belonged to? (Sorry about the image size, I'll enhance it later)

The Cadillac Sixteen had a Cadillac logo carved out of solid crystal on the steering wheel center.

Whatever it is, it looks like a great piece of Cadillac history, and you should take care of it! I'd recommend grabbing a shadow box or something similar to frame and preserve it.

I hope you can find out more about it - I suppose no luck with the Google picture search?
 
I tried the Google picture search, no results.

Have you attempted contacting other owners of such a piece? If it's possible to track them down. Or even contact Cadillac themselves? (Though, I wonder if they'd take it from you)
 
How do you track down the other half-dozen glass centre-cap owners in existence? :confused: Maybe they read GTP as well? 💡 Are there any people in your area that are knowledgeable about that sort of thing? How about the person you got it from?

Let us know if a Cadillac representative contacts you wanting their thing back due to their seeing this thread! :lol:
 
You said ten of those were made- the Cadillac Sixteen had two versions a sedan and coupe they had one in their steering wheel and one in each wheel so five for each car, two car thus ten crystal Cadillac emblems.

Interesting. It does appear to the Cadilac sixteen. It looks like that could be it. Thanks for responding. 👍
If I have time, I might ask around to confirm.
 
Complete guess, but maybe they did some photos around your area, and one of the caps fell off? Congratulations on the find anyhow.

Not likely. I don't directly own the piece, and the only reason I have it where I am is because I live near Stuben, where they actually made the glass for this.
