Considering Vauxhall/Opel are a quite a big seller in Europe, does anyone know why they don't have a Premium garage?

^ Simple; no premium models.

I love Opel (ich bin deutsch) and I'd love to see a premium Opel, but, there is none.

Because BMW is much more exiting :P .
I mean does opel have any REAL Sport cars ??? Maybe the GT but then again you better buy an elise , The OPC's ? frontwheel drive is not sport , its just sporty :P .

But much respect for the OLD Opels.

Probably because either of these:

1. Opel was too far down on their list of cars to make, or wasn't on the list at all.
2. Opel didn't want them to put their new cars in the game.
3. The modelling team couldn't get hold of the car they wanted to put in the game.

I bet my money on #1.

Edit: And because Europe. GT5 is a Japanese game and I guess Opel is no big in Japan. And if we speak of shear size of the brand, the I wonder why there's no Chinese cars in the game? After all, China is by far the #1 automotive industry nation nowadays...

Never! Opel is awesome...

So you think it's because Opel didn't want them to include any of their new models? Or because the modelling team couldn't get hold of the car they wanted to model??

I think it's because GM took Opel over. :( GM barely gets represented.

A few Corvettes (meh,) two Commodoes ( ) and a LOTUS Carlton. ( :yuck: ) Opel gets a DTM car and a VX220.

They should have more representation, but, GM won't allow it. :(

Because PD. No Korean car manufacturer has Premium cars either. And I'd say Hyundai is making a strong case for themselves as an automotive force.

As Fondo458 said, there are 2 premium Cappuccinos in the game, one of which can be RMed, whereas the Veyron isn't even premium, nor has it's Super Sport counterpart. trying to apply logic to explain PD just doesn't work.

Boom! Thank you! How else do you explain why the Suzuki Cappuccino is premium and the Bugatti Veyron isn't?

two cappuccinos actually.

Sorry guys but if Forza was on the PS3 i don't think i would ever touch GT5 again. The car selection is so diverse it just blows this japanese game to pieces like it's WW2.

Because PD.

All the explanation you need.

So true. That should be the be-all, end-all answer for every question about the logic behind anything PD does. They have repeatedly made intentional decisions that haven't made any logical sense at all to anyone outside the company(I wonder if even they understand it themselves?) for over a decade. Why do people expect them to change that now? At least the games have been reasonably fun in some ways.

I know, I know... GT6 is going to change all of that. You'll get all the information you need before entering any race. You'll be able to tailor the career mode to the style of play you prefer. You'll always be able to rougly predict how difficult the next race or series will be. The physics will be a near perfect match to real-world. The game will be equally accessible to expert and novice "simmers" and "arcaders." All of the cars will be of the same quality. You'll have every option and statistic you could want online and offline, and they'll all count equally and/or be able to be applied in any combination. There will be official practice and qualifying sessions available. Damage will look like damage. Mechanical damage won't be caused exclusively by collisions. DNF's will be possible. There will be no lag. Dirty drivers will be controlled, and separated from the others in all but "fun" rooms. You'll be able to buy any car you want whenever you want and paint it whatever color you want. You'll be able to design your own liveries. Pedal response will be like the pedals in a car instead of brakes and gas using 100% of foot travel with a clutch accurately recreated from Bizarro World. You'll be able to use a clutch with paddleshift, and maybe even map it to a gamepad if you wish. The accelerator on the gamepad won't jump from 50% to 100% over a tiny fraction of it's overall travel. The menus will be efficient. Every tree and pedestrian will be unique. The 24 hours of the Nürburgring will have GT3 cars as its fastest class. There will be no rabbits unless the race is clearly a multiclass race. There will be no cars significantly faster than others at the same PP, barring setup mistakes. And the AI will be able to drive, as well as being adjustable to suit your difficulty preference.

Hmm, think I got carried away a bit there... a few of those probably aren't examples of PD's traditonal WTF approach to decision-making, but rather of something else as well.

I hate to admit it but I agree. The cars look better, the scenery is awesome, and the sound is amazing. Totally agree about the car selection too, totally diverse and not biased in one make or manufacturer's direction (cough cough NISSAN cough cough).

Or the cars don't draw as much attention from people as the BMWs do? I guess the cars from the marque are more functional than suitable for the occasional events. :P

Nah, I think it's down to several reasons, first off there's both Opel and Vauxhall to be included, Opel being predominantly LHD (aside from some countries, like Japan), and Vauxhall only making RHD models, and with making them Premium they had to model a separate cockpit view for each model shared by both brands, although as the recent BreezeFrees additions show that's probably not the biggest issue.

The biggest issue might just be that the future of Opel was unsure for a long while in the aftermath of the 2008 economic crisis (and still is actually).
GM first wanted to sell it, then changed its mind and maybe PD thought to wait developing Opel/Vauxhall models until it became clear which party they had to deal with regarding the licenses (if they couldn't obtain them, all the modelling work would be wasted).

That's assuming they would start building Premium Opel/Vauxhall cars after 2008 ofcourse and the fact GT5 still includes Standard Opel/Vauxhall models proves they got the license in the end (as they have to renew it for each game) but perhaps simply too late to add new Premium models, especially since they had to model separate interiors for both models.

Ofcourse speculation, but this is my guess as to what could be a likely cause why they aren't included, not the reason why they couldn't be offered through DLC by now though.

I think it's because GM took Opel over. :( GM barely gets represented.

Er....GM took over Opel in 1929, so that's hardly the reason since they were featured in GT4 in the same way as any other brand, although as mentioned above the uncertainty caused by GM might be a reason.

I beg to differ, think you can compare the brand with Volkswagen (or any big European brand) these days in the kind of cars they offer.

Because Vauxhall.

Seriously though... it would be nice if they added the VX220 Turbo and they could even re-use the model and have the Opel Speedster too, there's another 2 premium car companies on the list...
