My uncle has to decide by tomorrow whether he's going to take a teaching job in Abu Dhabi. So I was just wondering what it's like as far as the cost of living and the general culture if anyone here has experience in the emirates.

I just watched No Reservations on Dubai. I get the feeling that there is something the emiratis and the english bankers are hiding when they talk about their city, and through reading I've become somewhat familiar with the concerns over dubai. Do these same concerns carry over to Abu Dhabi or is there more confidence in that city? Anyone know what it's like between the two?

Thanks in advance guys.

No drinky-drink and little to no shade from the sun, from what I've heard.

Women there supposedly aren't allowed to drive. I say we make that a law over here in the States. 👍

Not true at all. I know a girl who lives out there, and she's constantly driving.

But she's a girl not a woman.

Sorry, can't help myself. :sly: :p

Isn't there a member of Abu Dhabi on GTP? If so, ask this person what he/she can give you some inside.

Found some members from Abu Dhabi

Eventhough they haven't posted much and haven't been online recently, it's still a possibility to find out more about Abu Dhabi.

And these are from Dhubai

I watched Piers Morgan on Dubai. Its a very nice country, and your uncle will be fine aslong as he doesn't do anything atall wrong. Dubai has very strict rules and I think it is the same in Abu Diabi. and if you do anything wrong then you can be in serious trouble. Plus as a teacher don't call a teddy bear Mohammad. ;)

Nevermind. Uncle decided to turn down the offer.
