Anyone NOT complete the roadster events?

Um, well, I agree that the Tsukuba races aren't ... appealing. But, I have to say that the last two races in the series were fun. I think one of the easiest ways for PD to vary the menu would be to add random weather and light changes, or both.
 
3 golds and 2 silvers, Trying to complete them all with 390pp (limit) Gold, in hopes PD programmed a miraculous hidden reward for completing a Seasonal within PP Limit.

Can anyone confirm my wishful thinking?

(Hard to gold Tsubuka in my 1600 Roadster. if NC '07 is in lead, well restart that one!), and SS stage track is also really really strange to me, never rode it, so I left this alone, onto the DTM seasonal!)

I agree with cactusOnR, why not use the S2000, WAY better than the MX5.

I don't really think it's stagnation, not when the year has hit them with at least two major issues which have cramped normal operations.

I do think PD made a few poor choices in overall game design which have kept it from being as innovative and fresh as their previous ones - but boring, never :sly: In GT4 the races were all far longer, the career races in GT5 are the ones that are shorter, making them up to five plus laps has been an improvement, at least I think so.

I didn't like the aggressive AI in Shift so that might explain the difference in focus between us - which is fair enough, eh?
 
@FLX1981, your post pretty much sums up how I experienced the game too.

re; the miatas, people seem to be having fun with the event, so i might go back and finish it off. Is there much difference in the handling between models?

I like it, beats that dtm seasonal. For every person a different taste.

that's exactly right, everyone has different taste's.

I'll admit, I skipped over this seasonal, to do the german touring car one.
I'll still try to gold these 5 races too.. after I buy out everything in the Online dealership again, that is!

Mazda roadsters never really appealed to me.. sure they drive great, but they look like kids cars, small and toy like..

Indeed there is, more than you might at first think.

There have been a few surprised folks on the forum already.

Also, in general the MX-5 seems to have a bad rep, yet it was one of the first reliable, affordable sports cars and it was based on a 'certain British sportscar.' I used one from the start of both GT3 and 4 - until I couldn't keep up with the competition any more.

And what exactly is stopping people doing those other existing MX5 races?? PD should show more imagination. S2000 races would have been MUCH better and the S2000 has no events in Aspec.



And just in case anyone thinks I'm a MX5 hater, it's been one of the first cars (if not THE first) I bought in all the GT games if available. I've used the car LOADS and loved it. But coupled with the lack of events for other cars, it's overused in GT5 and then PD did the seasonals to compound the issue.

PD doesn't have to, they do it for free. Please don't jump down my throat for saying that I don't drive the car much,and that I enjoyed the race, nothing is stopping anyone from doing the other races, it's honestly their choice to do it or not.

sorry for jumping down your throat, but I'm just narked at the continued lack of imagination from PD. I know they do it for free, but they wouldn't have to if they'd given us all a decent amount of stuff to do in the first place!! The seasonals are supposed to add content not rehash existing stuff!!
 
I personally haven't done them, but the only reason that is is because I've just started a new save so I can redo the licenses to prove to myself that golding them all the first time wasn't a fluke, so that's all I've been doing!
However, I might do them tonight as I don't mind driving the Roadster from time to time and it will give me a break!
 
I had noticed this morning I hadn't done them so now I find myself tuning a roadster to get some cash and gears

I've loved the MX-5/Miata/Eunos Roadster ever since GT3's stock Miata cup which really forced you to take advantage of the little roadster's exceptional handling balance. There's no car I'd rather drive.
 
I remember first driving GT4 at a friends house. They (my friends) were driving cars with high HP and barely completing laps in one piece. I asked for the slowest car they could find and was able to beat their times. It can be fun to try different cars, but why would I want to drive the everyday cars that I've owned instead of the supercars I can't afford and may never even see in reall life?

I've been using one of the HKS (?) controllers for a couple months now and I'm getting better at it, but it's still no comparison to the wheel I have been using. I have been using a wheel for driving sims since the mid 90's. Which is why I was able to lap faster than my friends who were new to the driving sims.

A few odd cars thrown in every once in a while wold be ok though ;)
 
First of all, I don't know why this car is even in the game in the first place. If I drove onto the military post in an MX-5 one day I might get arrested for impersonating a female.

Putting aside the fact that it's widely regarded as a girly car where I'm from, I found these races to be laughably easy. I aced them all in one go and that was after I used the power limiter to bring my HP's in line with the fastest car on the track.

As someone above me said, why are they rehashing MX-5 races anyhow when there are literally dozens of other cars out there that have no races such as the S2000 or ffs maybe an evolution race. Where the crap is our evolution only seasonal?

In turn, I'm not really sure what you're doing playing GT5 - there have been MX-5s in all the GT versions I've played. It's something you accept...and yes, you may even come to enjoy them.

I bought a bundle deal last cyber Monday before Christmas. It included a 55" 3D Sony TV with two pairs of 3D glasses, the 3D projector kit, a PS3, Gran Turismo 5 and a couple of 3D bluray movies.

THAT is why I have GT5. I'm 100% certain that I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise because I was never into racing/simulator games before now. However, fate intervened, and my internet went down for a few days cause someone cut the main cable line by accident in our neighborhood, so I said "what the heck" and I gave GT5 a try.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how good the game is, and the cars that people like to drive are just a matter of taste which is pointless to argue. If you like something, then you like it, nothing's gonna change that. I only wish that a couple of cars that I personally like, such as the Lancer Evolution, would get their own seasonal event before giving a car that already has two spec-A events yet another race.

No offense meant, I was just blowing off steam in the general direction of PD, not anyone in this community.

I'm still away from my PS3 and have been since these were released. :(

Are u using sports hard or racing tires? Have u tried completely stock 07 with sports hard with all assist off except abs1? Power limiter gives different torque curve compared to stock at same hp. Have u done it in h shifter n clutch which is what it is in real life? If sports hard is easy try comfort soft which is equivalent of probably the better street tires like pilot sports. Just to put up a challenge, buy a premium roadster with sports hard assist off, manual transmission on Tsukuba seasonal. Let us know if u still find it easy or winnable.

I like your enthusiasm, but I'm just not that hardcore. I play GT5 cause I like collecting and tuning cars and racing them, but not because I'm under any delusions that it is a "racing simulator". For a "real life" test, I would move my playseat evolution with attached G27 racing wheel over to my PC and play iRacing instead.

I already use the H shifter, and I typically match the tires and HP that the best car is using, but beyond that I'm not really that interested in hamstringing myself any further than starting 25+ seconds behind the lead car at the beginning of the race.
