Anyone Play Guitar?Music

Man, I haven't been here in a while. Homework has gotten bigger since i started my Sophmore Year ( High School ). Well anyway, does anyone play guitar? I've been playing for about 2 months, and i can play Iron Man By Black Sabbath and Stairway to Heaven By Led Zepplin. Those are the songs i know very well, except the solo on Stairway ( its freakin long!! Like 2 to 2 1/2 minutes long!!! ). I'm not a one tuned guitar player, I play a lot of other song. What i mean by this is I don't only play rock. I play love songs, classical songs, and some rap backround songs. Well anyone else play guitar well? I've already checked the " what kind of instrument ... " thread, but i thought it would be better if i made a new thread, so the conversations can be more specific than having a whole bunch or other instuments.

I have to second the movement to the music forum.

And you think the solo in Stairway to Heaven is long? Give these songs a listen.

Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien (5-6 minute guitar instumental, although I'd highly recommend anything by Satriani)
Rush - La Villa Strangiato (11 mintue instumental)
Rush - 2112 (21 minute epic, numerous guitar solos throughout)

i have a 3 string guitar, only the deepest string is tuned, and i know all the fret notes by heart. i just cant play chords because i dont have the right hardware.

so basically, i can play anything i want that will fit on one string.

I Play.

>part of stairway, and a small portion of the solo(like 2-4 seconds of the begining).
<lots of pennywise
>some ozzy/black sabbath.
<some nofx
>some Ac/Dc

2nd year university here... I've had my guitar since December 26 (boxing day) so just over 1.5 months. I'm able to do Stairway to heaven moderately well but I'm starting to find that all these solo type songs are going to make it difficult to learn complex chords in the long run. Because of that, I'm trying to mix it up and slowly get into the more simple Hendrix songs like Hey Joe (which IMO is still hard as hell).

In terms of good tabs, where do you guys go? For the most part, I use a program called PowerTab. Then the tabs come from Powertab Archive. The reason I use this is because it provides the full tabs and it plays them back in a Midi format so you can hear it or play along with it. Plus it formats the printouts just like those tab books you can get from the store. It's pretty damn useful 👍. If I'm too lazy to run the program, I just head over to mxtabs.net

found it awhile ago. havent stoped using it since

I am learning to play, but all i have is a broken acoustic. I am planning on getting an electric and me and my freinds are gonna start a scream metal band. it will rule.

I started to play when I was 16 I think. I used to grab my dad´s guitar, and some music books he had and try to do the chords. Then on the next year I moved to a different school and made some new friends, Metal Headers lol. I was into rock already, but that´s when I started to listen to Metal really. Some of them had a Thrash Metal band, and we used to go to the drumer´s house to listen to music, drink and teach each other some cool song we had learned to play. :D

I haven´t played the guitar in a while though, about a year I guess.

I think it would be really cool to play the guitar but I just don't have the patience or ability with music to seriously try it :(.

Anyone get major cramps in their wrist after a few hours? The other day, I came home from 8 hours at work doing data entry. After I got home, I pulled out the guitar and worked on Stairway to Heaven for like an hour or two. Then another hour or so spread out till around I went to bed. The next day, I couldn't even move my left hand without feeling a lot of pain. The pinky on that hand was even worse off 👎

I did a thread like this years and years ago. Wouldn't know where to find it though. Anyway yea I play, been playing about 4 or 5 years now (can't actually remember) all self taught (best way i think). my axe is a mexico left handed fender strat (original) and im getting into acoustic stuff atm, got just a crapy tanglewood. In several bands atm, and thinking about doing some acostuci sets soon down at my local pub, should be interesting.
mainly right my own stuff, in a very tom morrello styly, but best stuff can play;
all of take the power back by rage (the solo is so unbelivably hard though, and it's no where near perfect.)
umm crap can't think of anything else too impressive i can play.
yea but just mainly right my own stuff, play a lot of rage, just got into jack johnson as well recently, and queen.
anyway some of the older memerbs like Duke (i think) are guitar pro's and old timers.

im on the left, kinda hard to see. this was from a gig i organised, got about 450 people in, which was good, and managed to raise £1200.

Nice pics man 👍

I've been playing for years but i'm still not any good

I have a guitar. I play very rarely, though. And i dont know much of anything. :( I've had my guitar for 2 years now. Haha.

Yup, I do play the guitar. Bought my first acoustic roughly 1 1/2 years ago. I practice daily at odd times (usually for an hour) during the day and sometimes at night with the lights off. :dopey:

I'm currently still saving money for an electric guitar. 👎:grumpy: If all goes well I should have one by the end of this year... or else I don't know how long. :(

Mmm, sexy. 👍

I guess I'll post an old pic of my guitar. I'll head to the mall tomorrow and ogle at some more electric guitars . The guy working at the music store probably thinks I want to rob his place as I've been there like 30 times just staring at all the music equipment. :odd:

I've gotten back into playing about ten years ago.
I'm pretty much a "rhythm banger" on acoustic.
I do travis-pick some stuff.
Currently my "number one" is an old Alvarez Model 5013.
My third son has, and I borrow, a nice Cort artist Electric.

i bin playin just over a year on me AXL Tiger (Ibanez copy, just the head is upside down) with gold hardware and an ibanez v8 pickup which i bought off a mate for £20 :D dont really have time to play it nowadays tho
