Anyone racing the AI evenly?

Since they dumbed down the seasonals I've been always using cars with only suspension mod and sports soft, much fun, takes me 3 laps to catch the leader, haven't tried the supercar seasonal, having too much fun in the Lamborghini event

I'd like to see a video of you catching the leader after 3 laps in the Fiat 500 challenge đź’ˇ

While it's less the case with seasonals, the problem for me with "don't use a mega overpowered car" argument was that it's completely flawed...

By default your car has to be overpowering much of the pack if you want to stand a chance of winning because the game almost always puts an AI car in the race that is better than the pack by a long shot...

So if you race something competitive against that best car in the pack, you smoke the pack in the first corner, if you don't you pretty much can't catch up.

Basically what I am saying is you can't match your performance to the competition when the competition is made up of a lot of varied performance cars...

The best race I've had so far is the ferrari race in the normal aspec events. I used a stock 458 with oil change and just barely beat the first place enzo. I recommend trying it out just dont be tempted to jump the corners on the chicanes like I was the first time I tried. Haha

The best race I've ever had (Or the most even with the AI) is taking the Chaparral 2D Race Car '67 to the 24H Nur race. An all out rainless race competing against a GT-One TSO20, Judd Courage and 787B. My only advantage was fuel and tire mileage for 8 laps between pits. Victory came at a 1.981 margin ahead of second and 3.434 ahead of 4th.

Got 3rd at Tokyo and 4th at SSR5 with a stock LF-A on sport softs. Then I destroyed them in a 787B on racing hard :p

The Lotus race was also a good one. After finally getting the Elise to not kill me with huge lift-off, corner entry, corner exit, straight-line, steady-state, parked-in-paddock, and every-other-opportunity oversteer (with simply enormous and unrealistic amounts of toe-in on the rear) I finally was able to beat it, and put a comfortable 3 seconds on the 2nd place car by the end.

A rear wing on the Lotus really help to get the car not to oversteer 👍

I treat these as test and tune time trials now its more fun to me that way with a full modded car after i have the track to myself (passed 2nd place), and get payed and xp to boot plus now we get fashions lol

If I like the event, I'll play fair...but even then the AI are pathetically slow.
The supercar festival i blitzed through with my 787B. Didn't feel like being friendly to the AI.

Well it's good to see I'm not the only one that noticed guys. 👍
And it's good to see PD has actually made improvements to the AI, especially in terms of speed. :)

I don't think they have. The races are only harder to win because of the huge gap between you and first. If it was a grid start you would see it's still the same. The updated AI just seems to make them notice you from further away and concede positions to you far too easily. Not sure what 'increased intelligence' actually does but I haven't noticed anything.

Try using ferrari 330 race car on historic race deepforest track.
Use it stock and no aids. See if you can catch up and hold that 2J or 7
that was great !!

It's still kinda easy to win on the hardest difficulty in Arcade mode with slower cars than the AI. Until the AI can truly win without giving way so easily to a passing players car, then I doubt the AI will ever be "good enough" to give a solid race.

What is catching my attention while playing the game is to buy a brand new car
on NCD and race the AI in the custom tracks I've created.

I use all assists off. Irt is very hard to win these races but also very fun!

The AI most definitely improved up to the point you actually have to race them. Which is a good thing, but in Arcade they could be a tad smarter still on "A" level.

I'm currently doing the 9h Tsukuba enduro, and when I'm beside them in a curve, they will slow down as much as ~ 50km/h then re-accelerate. Howerver, before they would also do that when coming behind them, now they only seem to do it when turning

I had a great race today using Arcade mode.

I set a race using Sport Mediums, chose the SLS then changed it's tyres to Comfort soft. It was great, I could battle with a car cleanly as braking distances and cornering speeds weren't ridiculously off. My only gripe was with being drafted by on the straight by 4 cars from waaaaaay back(nurburgring 24hr) but that is of course another problem.

That tyre change seemed to suit my skills behind the wheel(I turned the TC down but not off, it was still a handful on the second lap if I got agitated as the tyres went off). Others would need to go further using a similar principal. I tried one make in A spec using the stock R32 with Sports hard vs Comfort Soft but I won that un touched.

I'm not sure if this is all psychological though as I can't be 100% sure how the tyre settings work, but I had a great time.

At least to a point I've found this is true, the gaps start out bigger, and they're putting the rabbit cars up front.
Of course, they also dive off the track to get out of my way at times too, which is always a nice realism touch. :dunce:

But hey, a 3 car race for the finish is better than a 1 car race, right?

All the new seasonal events, i try to give myself a challenge, start from an underpowered car, see if i win, then make my way up, till i just win. Reminds me of the time, i tried beating the UTE challenge with the midget.....the tacoma runner was just too fast.

True if you are using tuned and high end cars. Arcade Mode become a decent fun once you take a not so fast untuned car with stock tyres. The game will give you decent opponents so you can have a close race, I.e. yesterday I was useing an Alfa Brera at Rome reverse (A level) and it was nice, the AI weren't that slow. But Arcade Mode with fast cars or race cars it's not that different from the nefast A-spec granny fest. Sometimes happen you can have close race but more often it's just slalom. Also try to use demanding cars like Ferrari Enzo or Renault 5 Turbo and keep the stock tyres.

I can feel your pain that's exactly the main bug with GT5 AI, expecially in A-spec and in corner exits the completely accel OFF. Kaz made a career mode for dummies.

This kind of AI was introduced with patch 1.06 so better thank the community for bitching GT5 was too hard.
