Until about 4 weeks ago my PS3 had never been connected to the internet and I was playing for ages while everyone was banging on about seasonal events, steering sensitivity adjustmet, weirdly different transmission settings, higher or lower value of credits or exp's from finishing first and of course everything else that comes from hooking up Gran Turismo 5 to the net.

Everyone was playing altered and streamlined versions of the game I was still playing the original, but when I first hooked up, the whole game became different and at last I could play the much talked about seasonal events.

I'm interested to know is there anyone else on here still playing a 'stock version'? and getting higher credits per win (like the wind 90,000 cr) but much less exp's per win.

Wouldnt say refuse refinement, more the fact he hadnt hooked up before and played like I did until about January.

I can't have been the only 'casual game player' who used his console at most twice a week until be became hooked on a game and through that connected it to the net to see what all the fuss was about?

Never knew that there are people that refuse refinement

Don't worry about it mate, it's hard to tell through typed comments whether someone is trying to convey some sort of sense of sarcasm or not. I have done all the updates as they came through thanks to the automatic login, I would be interested to hear your views on the changes as you saw them and whether they have largely been for the better or worse?

The main one for me was the xp amount, as I was playing low xp/high credits and people were talking about being 40/40, I couldn't understand how on earth they were managing it without being glued to their PS3's 24/7.

The check ticks next to cars in the dealerships and yellow symbols in the parts shop are also a really good.

Also I used to enjoy 'bullying' the AI with a maxed Veyron, I used to get right up their tailgate and push them along a straight for ages (Monza) approaching a corner and then fling them forward into the barrier, the AI has been tweeked now and they move to the side instead of just letting you force them off. :sly:

We didn't get the gt5 game until after, I think, the latest patch.

But when we got the ps3, we immediately connected it to the internet - mainly because we got the ps3 partly as a device to stream neflix to the tv instead of the less convenient way we were doing it from one of the computers. (Yes, we're people who bought a ps3 because it does "everything" - it's a blue-ray player, streams netflix, and a game console. Instead of having separate devices for all that.)

But I have a sneaking suspicion that if it wasn't for the netflix thing, & it was my bf's decision on his own, he probably wouldn't have immediately connected gt5 to the online, until he happened to read about what the patches could do, or something like that. (Hard to want refinement if you don't yet even know about it!)

We didn't find out about bspec remote racing until we had the game a couple of weeks at least! And I found out about what it was about from reading about it here... from reading most posts in the Q&A & Bspec sections.

My bf does read this forum pretty regularly... But not like me. He just does specific searches for specific things, and never posts himself.

So I'm sure it's not most, but there's probably quite a few people not connecting their gt5 to the internet... But you probably won't find them here, especially not posting. If they're not connecting their gt5 to the internet, chances are they're not following threads on this forum... if they're looking at this forum at all.

Yes the PS3 is a fantastic machine and I use mine as a Blu-ray player, I also use it to play those old fashioned DVD discs!

I am still on version 1.02 original. I bought the game a few days before i to deployed to Iraq, unable to login to PSN, until i get home in june, and then i might not update until i hit lvl 40. And i regulary visit this forum everyday. there are a few of out there.

hi just to let know am a huge fan of gt til the first..and for what watermelonpunch says its not true there many pple playing gt5 and not connecting there ps3 to the net not because they dn't want to but just can't, see in my country the net is still not that affordable! Apart from smartphone etc and for sme like me i read search the site regularly for me since gt4 but join just now.

I'm sure that there are plenty of un-connected people playing GT5. As WMP says they're much less likely to be on this forum... and much less likley to tell you about their state of dis-connectivity-ness. And yes, that's a word.

* ahem *

personally for me am still enjoying gt5 but would have love if i could get update, a streamline game and racing online but its just not possible..i am really sad bout *sme* lack of the game and not getting their fix...this is the only game so far i really need a netcnc cos its really 90per completed...thanks!

I still have the un-updated version of GT5. Got my copy last Christmas 2010. Never played online.. I'm sad. My wi-fi router's signal just doesn't hit the PS3 nicely. :(
