I was wondering if you get scammed trading cars is there anything you can do to get it back? I really wish they set up the trading situation differently. 👎 Not just pushing triangle & send. There should be like a separate room that shows the people & actually confirms that you are getting the car you want. Not just relying on their trust.

cough backup save file cough

I don't consider it duping as long as you delete the car once the correct car is received, but who would do that?

Here's the thing: it's a GIFT system. It wasn't meant to be used for trading. People just decided to turn it into that.

But yeah, just back up your save before "trading" and restore if you get ripped off.

Haha thanks. yea unfortunately this happen before I knew you could do that... But I def think that should be the next patch is adding some kind of trading system that actually allows you to see the cars your trading to make sure no one can get screwed. Now I need to go get a memory stick!

A trade system would be nice, or something like FM3's Storefront and auction house system.

Actually, maybe they should just replace the gift system with a trade system. With the current gift system, it isn't quid-pro-quo so players can and do exploit this such as we all know, but having an exchange system could eliminate some of the duping thing, I would think. However, it would really take just five minutes, if that much, for more clever players to realize that we can still dupe by simply trading the desired car for a worthless one and the guy getting the worthless one simply restores with the desired one still in his garage and the other guy never lost anything of value in the exchange.

I actually like the gift system, I've never been given a car but I've helped out my mates who don't play GT5 as much as I do and this way I don't take anything in return, plus if I happen to win a car I already have and can't sell, Lexus IS-F racing concept in B-Spec for example was one, I can offload it to a mate without it going to waste.

As explained, it's a gift system. It wasn't meant, originally to be used for trades. So try not to "trade" with someone unless they are completely legitimate. Otherwise, back-up your save first so you can recover the car.

Of course, this discussion has been had before, we have a sticky in the Marketplace on what you can do if scammed, and you can report abusive or problematic users to PSN (Good luck with that).

Shame to have to lock this thread, seeing as it's (so far) so genial (no rabid ranting yet), but it's an old question.
