Ahhhh my copy came a few hours ago, and I'm trying to find out how to take off the ghost car - I really hate driving while it's on. Also, I read in the refernce guide about an ABS controller, but I can't find it anywhere and I wanna turn that off.

You can't tuurn off the assists for the Licences - they are default. With progress, they will go and some will have them some won't.

As for the Pace Car, you can't turn it off. Whole nature of the Pace Car is to be in front of you. Having said that, you'll notice that if you overtake it durnig Licensing, you'll fail the test. It has been driven by CPU, and it is programmed to be faster then you for about second (+ / - 0.300 sec margin).

Pace Car is driving the perfect racing line, and it is braking on exact braking points for particular corner. It is a very good way to learn entry and braking points for tracks.

Also do not be fooled by split-times. Since there is no ghost-car in Full-Lap Liences, splits are times between you and the Pace Car. You'll realise there is no way to see have you been faster then your previous attempt without the ghost, but that is the case - you have to drive as fast as you can and watch the splits for the lap. not fot the car. Faster you - faster Pace car, and car split-times will basically stay the same all the way untill you pass Gold-time.

After I coped with those new "rules", I actually found this new system much more intresting then the Ghost one. Naturally, Pace car is driving with you only the full-lap Licence tests.

Ahhh I didn't mean licenses - I kept getting a ghost car of my fastest lap when I do a free run and I want to take that off.

I'm confused. So on all the S-license tests, you have to drive behind a pace car, which is going to obstruct your view for the whole lap?

Oh, sorry. If you play with DFP just press "up" on the wheel's D-pad. If you play with DS2, check the Maskrider's thread with translations (Page 1) and configure the controller.

why is that a problem?
i'f you can handle the speed of the Pace Car, even harder, there no problem at all...(in my eyes)

I'F YOU ARE TO SLOW FOR THE PACE CAR, AND BECAUSE YOU ARE THAT SLOW, YOU FAILED, THEN IT WOULD BE A PROBLEM!!

whoops, sorry for Capsluck

Ok, TCS ON for licenses is bad news, but still ... acceptable (remember that RUF slalom license - with TCS took me about 20 tries to get gold, without got gold in 2nd try!).

But driving behind a pace car or any other car is really not acceptable. I hate ghost A LOT (it just obstructs my view and it just breaks my concentration soo much), but it could be turned off in GT3. And this pace car can't? If you're faster you fail??? Oh C'mon PD!

Assists are on for SOME tests. In later "class" licences (iB, iA and S), assists are somewhere on, somewhere off. There is famous "slalom" between cones with both on and off assits.

Pace car does not exist on full-lap licences in S class. And it is a good evolution in terms of "having licence".

Hmmm, maybe a screenshot from license test with pace car?

I read from a post in a local news group that the pace car went belly up (don't know how will that happen), it means that he must fail, ha ha !

I am not sure if it is true, but it will be really interesting to see that.

I don't know what's so wrong about driving behind a pace car. It teaches you to drive with obstructions and distractions, which is obviously quite common in racing, with opponents and all...

the only time i failed by going past the pace car was downhill in costa di amalfi

but other than that, i like tailgating :D

and u turn off ghost car by pressing the 'UP' button on the D-PAD on either the DS2 or DFP

Using the DS2 controller, just press select button and the ghost will go off. I don´t like it too, and i always take it off.

obs: i mean in GT3, i dunno if it´s the same in GT4 as i don´t have GT4 yet.

You guys need to play the game before you start complaining. The pace car is actually a lot of fun, and very smart. He really adapts to your speed well and adjusts accordingly. You only really catch him when you mess up yourself and then later catch him as he's slowed down to wait for you. But he seems smarter than the race AI. It's an interesting new type of challenge, don't be afraid of new things.

nicely said ....those who are *****ing, just deal with the pace car as u would deal with someone farting in a crowded train.

Please tell me I can at least avoid the torture of ASM during every license test... I can deal with a very low TCS setting if I have to, but I will hurl obsceneties so loud PD can hear them if I'm forced to have both aids on full for most tests.

The very reason for license tests is to prepare you for the races ahead, to get you familiar with the changes to the physics and tracks. To force unrealistic and restrictive aids on is entirely counterproductive!

:furious:

I totally agree. I'm working on Mission mode right now where assist is forced on and it's really annoying.

Press up on D-pad and no more ghost. I can't seem to get the ghost to work in the 0-400 vegas strip... why??? I really need the ghost when dragging to test out car settings and stuff.

Nobody else seems bothered about having to drive behind a pace car? Someone explain please?

No I am not really bothered by it, if you go past the pace car you probably enter the corner too fast, making you come out slower.... which causes you to be slower overall.

The pace car is actually helpful as it shows you the direct line to take on the track. Watching closely for the brake lights helps too for the chicanes and hairpins on the tests. The ghost car in the other tests can be a pain in the ass. The best tip I can think of for not seeing the ghost car is this. Keep it behind you :)
