Hello

i wanted to know if is possible to remove catch up in forza 4 and if the catch up is active in online mode cause i think is not really realistic

Thank you for your awnser and sorry for my bad english

I personally don't see any "catch up" in the game, but they sure do know how to put on the mustard. What I do see is almost a distinct human type reaction from the CPU. CPU seems to do exactly what I've seen from real life players of the game. Most people have a few driving "styles" to themselves.
1) Driving by themselves with the lead
2) Driving by themselves when their behind and losing
3) Driving in a group or near another opponent

These are all different to different players. Some break when you're near them and putting on the pressure. Some break when trying to make up ground. Some are not good front runners and drive their best when they're on the chase (me). I see the CPU simulating all of this.

why i says there catch up is because happen to me 2 or 3 time is i got a big accident , had to pit stop and the IA was about 30 sec front me and i catch them the next lap and when i pass them i am not able to take some time from them, they become competitive when your near and not when your very late. The IA have almost the same IP as me and some higher than me.

sorry for my bad english

I don't think there is any 'catchup' as such, maybe the AI don't make as many mistakes or 'lift' off in corners so much if they are further behind, but they seem bound by the physics of the car itself.

Online, there is no catchup at all, I must have had 100 or so races online, and not a hint of it..

I've experienced sandbagging or "catchup" in World Tour events. During the race, I'll be in the lead by many car lengths. All of a sudden, all of the AI cars get aggressive and are glued to my rear bumper.

I've never seen it, and without video it just seems like people trolling or not knowing how to drive.

Yup, no catch up or rubberbanding AI here either in any mode.

thank you for your awnser and Jason not because that never happen to you that we are trolling. That thing happen to me 2 or 3 time in forza 3 too. I was in a italia 458 and i was first, was a very tied race (fun of course) and the IA bump me frond behind and lost control of my car and had to pitstop to repair thing because my car was hard to control. I was like 20-30 sec behind with 3 lap remain. Well i catch up all the IA got first again, but now than i am 1 i am no able to take many seconde from them (now that i was 1 the IA now was competetive with me) and that what i d'ont like. Instead of that i like my game :)

just try a little test, was with a BMW M5 2012 (A 600 IP) i wait 30 sec at the start line and catch them on the first lap, (Camino Viejo Extrem) in world tour mode. The lower IP ia was 597. Notice that i never try that catch up in arcade and never see it in online mode, only world tour. Please try it and tell me if that happen to you too, if not i will try to adjust some difficulty element maybe to see what happen. I think the game need the difficulty IA level in world tour mode too

It's just like Forza 3 which had rubberband AI except the highest level (Pro in arcade/event list). In World Tour you don't reach the hardest level until the last season so yes rubberband AI is a huge factor in World Tour. I don't know how anyone playing World Tour in Fm4 hasn't noticed the rubberband AI.

World Tour Season 6 at Infineon Championship race:
A) Just sitting on the line waiting for the leader to cross the line. time~ 2:01
B) take the lead half way through the lap. time~1:56

I don't know why these Forza defenders thinks someone lying about rubberband AI except the fact they hammered Gt5 so much for easy AI and the fact is "World Tour" Fm4 AI is not much better except maybe at the last few seasons. In seems Forza 4 is following Gt5 in making the game easier for more casual gamer. Still you do have the option of racing with Pro AI in event list which seems the be the same as hard level in fm3.

Correct answer. I think the OP confused the rubberbanding AI with GT5. That game actually has proven rubberbanding AI. None of the Forza games have this. NFS yes, GT5 yes, Forza...No.

Just because the lap time improves that does not prove the AI is rubberbanding, go watch the replay from the AI car and see whats going on. If the AI is on rails gamers complain, if the AI seems to vary a little bit gamers complain.
