SaintFu-
I feel this requires it's own thread, seperate from the general thank you thread.

I just want to give PD a huge thumbs up for the work they have done tweaking shaders and filters to improve the quality of the standard models in game.

Since the last update I have been changing the wheels on the standard cars and the look so much better than they did on release.

Even without the new wheels the skins are crisp and the visible polygons have been minimized. Some are better than others and I would love further improvements but for the most part they look great.

Now if I could find that key that unlocks all wheels for all cars I might send flowers. Also...I'll buy that wheel dlc I just know will be released. ;p. Goon on ya fellas

The time they put into the "open top" cars is pretty impressive. I've not tried any others, but the FGT and Audi R8 Race Car look great.

I've always been a solid supporter of Polyphony Digital. I thank them for giving me the game that takes the stress away after a long day at work. Just going to the menu and listening to some piano while looking at all the sweet cars in my garage is enough for a clap, clap, clap from me.

I never used to drive any of the standards for the first four months of owning GT5. Now, I'm grateful they've been improving since there are a lot of people who never used them until Spec 2 came out. After most updates, some would say the standards have improved but we weren't fully sure. Update 2.02 cleared that up. The Elise looks amazing now and the Renaultsport Clio Renault looks a lot better. The shadows on the doors don't look weird anymore.

I'm finding I'm driving my standards a lot more than I was.

Jolly good work PD, jolly well done. Have a cuppa

Splendid job, chaps at Polyphony, those standard vehicles look so spiffing in my garage.

Me too!

The only thing that I miss on the Standards is to see the hood when playing on cockpit view... This would make me very happy.

With the last update I noticed that a number of Standards had their textures cleaned up (Window frames and so on). But some others still look bad.

I guess that it's an ongoing process and they do a batch of them for each update.

PD doesn't want you to see ugly low-res Standard cars textures.

I am aware that this is the point indeed...

But PD could think that:
1- The game was released 1 year ago.
2- Already had it's reviews (and poor reviews because of the premature release)
3- Already sold the mostly of copies it should...
4- Who is fan, will continue fan, with low-res or no...

Come'on PD, you well could stop being stubborn about some things ..

The standards are Much-O better looking and the addition of wheel changing made the game more enjoyable for me...

Same here. Even though GT5 made me grumble about several things they did, like that Paint Shop with no paint?? What's up with that!

The Standards weren't one of them though. I love mine, and literally have several hundred of them, and very much appreciate the attention they continue to get from the team, when so many people complained that they were in the game to start with. Like you, I enjoy chasing after them in the used dealerships, and can admire them in my garage while they rotate slowly and that excellent Smooth Jazz plays. And race them, of course. ;)

I'd like much more work done on them, like giving them all Race Mods and alternate liveries, even user liveries at some point. But if that doesn't happen, I'll still be hoarding and racing mine happily. GT5 was at launch, and still is, one of the very coolest racers out there, perhaps even the best.

*Clap, Clap, Clap*

Standards, tuning fixes, continuous support etc.

For a lot of things, but mostly for the best driving experience on a console.

That pretty much sums it up. Standards have come a long way since the beginning of GT5. They're much more enjoyable now, and almost feel like their big brother counterparts (Premiums). :)

I agree with the open-top cars. I enjoy the FGT and LMS cars much more now, although I wish the info was displayed on the steering wheel/dash rather than the HUD.

There was a huge update to cleaning up thr look of standards somewhere in the 1.06 08 range. I remember noticing a big improvement in how crisp and clean they look. Lol does anyone remember how bad some cars looked on launch like the mugen crx

The GT PSP ported standards look great: Veyron, Countach, Audi R8 LMS.

And the group C cars have great standard damage.

I remember the shelby series 1 in roof cam, the hood scoop was very low res. Than after 2.00(i think) not just the car, but overall including the front bumper, it looked a lot less low res, it was cleaned up.

And for that, kudos to the whole dev team at PD. It's good that they cleaned it up, instead of leaving it as it is.

I was just mentioning this in the general news and what not thread... Go see it should still be the last comment on the last page...

I got a little giddy with the Skyline R30, Instead of blacked out windows you could see in, whats more you could see the makings of a proper styled dash and the seats were not blocky things but had shape and form... and were RED to match the car... I sense the standards will become close to premium soon, be it bit by bit instead of one huge leap!

Keep up the good work PD and Bloody good show, what!
