An iPhone version of GT5? Wouldn't be surprised, there's an iPhone version for everything now. Or maybe a new console from Apple, you drive the car using your will, no controllers.

Eh? It's been delayed once.

Once officially. They initially planned to release it almost a year ago.

If there is one thing that this icon is indicating it is that this menu is still work in progress. Pretty much like everything else in this bloody game...

good idea... maybe there's something between apple and polyphony since they're maybe trying to make a gt for iphone!
And that's not really strange, since kazunori is well concerned about new technologies and iphone games are really funny and use new functions

AppleWorks is not even available anymore, it is a discontinued product. There should be no relevance. It is more likely they just "took" the icon.

I'm sure that's right, I took the same icon and tattoed it to a small child and i don't see him getting sued or anything.

My explanation is that PD is fine to use the icon, since I was fine to tattoo it to a small child. Basically the reason we'll see GT5 this year is down to me.

Wow that is wierd! We need someone from Polyphony on these forums. :)

We did. Some guys started flaming him, saying he didn't know what he was talking about etc. He left.

Anyway, i hope this points at Telemetry in GT5.

There is absolutely no way someone working on the menus for PD just used some icon they found sitting around, that's got some reason to be there related to the software it originally represeted.

Look like a Debug Online Menu, nothing final, just what the Devs see.

That Build might be done in an Apple Computer and thus Using that icon, I dont know and i dont care really.

The point is, CAN YOU PEOPLE REALISE HOW LOW WE'VE GOTTEN AS GT FANS?

The next one will be like, An image of Polyphony Digital Office, and then some guy will say WHY THERES A LONELY CHAIR IN THAT CORNER BEHIND THAT PC, DID THEY FIRED ANYBODY, AND BECAUS OF THAT THEY DELAYED THE GAMEE!!!!1111111...

OR, it was in the public domain.
OR, it belongs to a third party.

Oh and, ^ LOL!

You're right

Remember when a GT5P photo appeared in a NASCAR pre-race show months before E3?

Notice in the thread some claimed, like they're doing in this thread, that they "randomly" found the picture on net and decided to use it

What a lack of information and in some cases a lack of social life can do...

That icon with the clouds and the sun.. thats used in our weatherforecast! and bottom right corner are some paralel lines. Those are used in Office!

come on ;) If its a working icon and there isnt any trademark issues (wich most _icons_ havent got) then use old instead of waste time designing new.

The we could might actually get a release sometime :scared:

Im quite sure that they have just dumped some icons there to fill the gaps where they havent finished their own. Afterall this is still all unfinished stuff, but great spot!

I personally hate the GT5 icons so far, they have the 'XP icon look syndrome' where they have become too cartoony and look too much like OS icons.

GT5P has very professional icons which were similar to the simplistic XMB white lines approach (also seen in Alba's GT5P theme). They should have stuck with those.

Robin.

Appleworks is no longer a program provided by Apple. They stopped production of it in 2007. SOOO the icon may be free domain now... which is lazy as hell for PD considering they model 500k poly vehicles.. and they can't make an icon.

UNLESS... they really are doing someting with Apple.... Hmm..

I would be very worried if they still haven't got their icons straight.

Obviously it's just a temp one, people should calm down :P

Just imagine Gran Turismo 5 being released for iPad before the PS3.

:lol::lol::lol:

Kaz: "We delayed GT5 cause Steve Jobs called me and said we can use their icons if we make them a game for the iPad."

Seriously, someone (preferred from Japan) should contact PD and let them know about this issue. I know that some people from this forum was trying to get PD for various issues and request and didn't got any response at all. But this issue could be serious.

First, I wouldn't call it an "icon" only, since this could be the trademark for the whole software package - similar to Microsoft W (in a box) for "Word".

Imagine that the game will be release with that symbol (for some use), and Apple has some trademark on that symbol, PD (+Sony) could be sued by Apple. From previous experience (SixAxis -> Dual Shock3) those trials take long time and during that time PD might need (by court decision) to close the game servers or Sony to send a patch to disable the game for sometime until an arrangement will be settled (PD pay money to Appl and/or change the symbol by a patch).

Is there anybody here who can do that act and contact PD - of course it could be that they are aware of that, but if not, we might get hurt when the game (finally) released !!!

it's most definately a temporary icon, a placeholder. yamauchi is a big apple fan, and being a designer means: when you're looking for a placeholder, you need one quick, and will probably just search through your applications folder – voila!

and to the one's proposing, apple would give it's trademarks, copyrighted icons or anything into public domain... no, that won't happen… ever.

speculation should center around the function below the icon.

+1

I'm pretty sure I've seen the little web2.0-style head and shoulders icon next to it somewhere too. The art guys don't just fire these out while the coders wait, you know? If they developed like that, christ, it might take half a decade to get a game out the door ...

Lmao at the PD art department using old apple icons as placeholders. As if.

Any Iracing players here, what's excel used for with Iracing?
