I forgot it was April Fools day.
It's that time again... anyone found anything yet?
It is clear that sales of motorcycles are not getting easier with further declines in sales for the market and H-D in January and February. I believe we now need to examine everything that could have a positive impact on our business and business practices I believe we need to get more serious about what we are doing. For that reason I have decided to abolish the current office dress code of motor clothes and to revert to a more serious and business like attire.
From the 1st April all are now required to wear a suit and tie to the office Monday to Thursday with the concession that a sports jacket with a collar and tie to be worn on casual Friday. Jeans are strictly prohibited at all times.
Some of you may challenge the wisdom of this decision but the clear correlation between office attire and performance can be seen in Japan where the relaxation of dress code has lead directly to a fall in sales and financial performance, I am sure that with this fresh approach to the business we can get things back on a growth path.
I would welcome ideas about how we can also get the dealers to mirror our initiative which would also separate us from competitors and give us another advantage at retail.
Thanks for your co-operation
