I'm rusty as hell .. raced rally on GT4 the other week but it's been ages since I've been on tar and it certainly shows with some sloppy driving haha :p

down to the 25.1xx / 56.3xx region so far, will keep pushing and hopefully find some confidence again :cheers:

Glad to have you in here, I'm honored that we've managed to distract you from Prologue, or whatever it was you were doing. :sly: I'm sure you'll be back in the swing in no time, and what you have so far is not too shabby. 👍

I've updated the leaderboard through MadMax's post. And I hope to have some splits of my own on here later tonight. I did not run a full test with this, just a few laps to get the feel, so I'm starting from scratch like the rest of you.

Got some splits for you guys -

The T1 is not much of an issue to duplicate, but as always at El Cap, that hill makes or breaks you. :crazy:

Updated the leaderboard, and the 57's are a little crowded. :odd:

EDIT: Ran some more and took care of that problem. I thought Nick might need some company in the 56's. :sly:

56.0 is the best T2 I've seen so far, so there's still a lot of work to do stringing it all together, there's so many troublesome sections over the whole lap which means loads of restarts and not very many laps that actually cross the finish line!

Even though it's so demanding putting it all together I still like it! .. Nice combo Kev :cheers:
 
The only problem is finishing the lap cleanly... :indiff:. Have seen some good splits but I screw up somewhere later! Giving this another shot later in the week with times 👍

Yeah, until last night, I hadn't realized that I didn't push the car much while testing it. I crashed A LOT on the way to the splits I posted, and finally got consistent for about 10 laps or so. And then I was having trouble matching a quick last sector with a good T2. The only thing I can do consistently is T1 of 25.0-25.5, if you want to call that consistent. :dopey:

I ran WRS right after this and found myself fighting severe understeer after embracing the oversteer of the Chap. The Panoz is a little better on PTW and has the extra gears for more consistent speed, but the times are still surprisingly close for us both randomly selecting El Capitan combos on the same week. :crazy:

Anyhow, I'm glad to see so many of you out here and I'm glad you guys are liking this. I did some more testing last night for the actual series, and let me reassure everyone, they will not all be like this. 👍

Interesting ride there Kevin!! I've actually seen an amazing (for me) t1 of 24.xx. She's still a handful.
 
well managed .350 more, but ended up with about the same T2

Seen a 24.763 -> 55.256 and a 24.544 at T1 so 54.9xx would be possible and a couple more tenths on the ending so I'm about 1s off, but that's where I usually end up on El Capitan. :sly:

Got your new splits on the board, nice ones. 👍 I can see you in my mirror, and it's getting crowded in the 56's. :scared: And I've been in the same boat at T2, seen a couple in the 55's and duffed it on the next turn both times, looking at the splits instead of braking, I guess. :dopey:

I used 310 top speed, going back to 300 next session.
Lost at least .3 on the tite right at the bottom of the hill, I drove in way too deep.

I used 310 gearing.
I lost at least half a second in this lap so I think there is a lot of room for improvement.

Forgot to test any of the gearing, but I've had about enough of El Capitan for a while so I'm not going to try again despite losing another tenth on the ending. :dunce:

Some close racing all around :scared:, and nice splits from jmgyro and Zikwik. :crazy:

For the record, I'm using 320 gearing. Maybe I was doing something wrong, or maybe this is like the Civic racecar at MidField, when it helps so much for the rest of the lap that it doesn't matter. But I hit the limiter at the end of the front straight with 310 gearing, as far as I recall. :dopey:
 
I have no splits that are worthy of posting... but this car can only be summed up one way... :eek:

It is a nice view looking back at you guys if even for only a day or two.:scared:

Got you on the board, Steven. The wheel will help you with Prologue for sure, from what the other former controller drivers say. GT4, I'm not sure. There are plenty of fast controller drivers, including our current race leader.

This car is very light and the bumps can send you flying off track if you don't drive the perfect line. Also, I'm not sure when the auto tranny is shifting for you, but read my first note in here on the redline. It actually hits the limiter at 7,500 RPM, well into the redline. And it has gobs of power until then. So if it's shifting early on you, that is not going to help at all, especially with only 3 gears.

To me, the keys with this car are to keep the revs up, brake on time (Earlier than you think, at first) and use the oversteer to your advantage. As long as you can countersteer to control it, putting it into oversteer is very effective in several sections. And with ASM, that is not going to work.

I would suggest trying to drive it with reduced power to get used to the lines without the aids turned on, and once you are comfortable, bump it back to stock power. I did that all the time back when I was in D3, first starting out, and had a car that I was crashing too much with.

Anyhow, glad to have you in here, and I promise, they won't all be this difficult. 👍

This car on this track is frustrating the heck out of me. I can't get any consistency (The Panoz is like a Sunday drive compared to this one) but I can't quite figure out why.

In any case we're leaving for a week down the shore now so I'm submitting

I lost 0.150 in the last sector but I'm pretty satisfied with this lap :) .
