made of velcro ?

How comes when ever I hit the crash barrier, bang, thats it, I stood facing the barrier and having to reverse all the time.

Seems pretty un realistic to me ?
Some times if I am lucky, I may bounce over to the other barrier to look at !!

Yes I know, my driving needs to improve

Yup, its velcro. :)

I wondered the same thing. Seems like no matter what angle you hit the barriers, you end up backwards. The way the momentum of the car completely changes is amazing.

Well if you hit a barrier in real life you will not just bounce along it. For most of the time, especially when you go fast. you will "dig" into it. (of cause not concrete barriers). But when you hit it just slightly with the front corner, that corner would bend the barrier and then either just dig into it and stop, or you will just dig in slightly and spin out. Either way your car will be damaged, easily beyond repair. So just spinning is a very, very cheap way to go. Then you just loose 10seconds. You don't retire from the race.

agreed 👍

Sorry for saying this, but I have wiped my real car along a barrier for about 10 meters, no digging in, no slowing down. For a glancing blow (rather than a head-on impact), the car just deforms around the barrier and you slide along it.

Then you ring your insurance company and cry a little bit!

Perhaps it's something to do with the physics engine?

Tracks have gravity - maybe other objects do to, just as everything that has mass in the real world has gravitational pull?

Just a thought.

If your talking about grinding against a barrier on lets say a nascar track, the reason you cant turn away or get off it is because your front wheels are on the wall! How can you turn the wheel if its parallel on a wall? The wheel wont be able to move. You have to brake to get off the wall.

The thing that really doesnt make sense is when you get air, if you hit the brakes, your front end goes UP and not DOWN.

do you mean a guard rail or a barrier that is in the center or side of a highway? not trying to discredit you but a guard rail is meant to make you slide (unless you hit it straight on obviously) and those barriers on the highway have a lip on the bottom so it kind of pushes you off of it (if you know what I'm trying to say). I've never wrecked at a track so i'm just using basic physics but i could be wrong. Every race I've watched on tv they get stuck to the wall (mainly because that tire and suspension is jacked so they can't do anything about it.

If PD would bother to add some realistic car collision physics we would not have to worry about wall grinding cheaters, or this ridiculous "fix" for the issue. Just make the car act as it would irl and be done with it. PD would rather make the game even more unrealistic.

Yep, it was a normal road barrier in the UK, you're right, they're designed to throw you back on the road and let you slide along. Different aim from deformable track barriers like tyre walls etc...but I still think solid walls shouldn't stop your car dead from a glancing hit.

Nevertheless, I think hig-gt hit it earlier, just don't hit the barriers!

It's easy saying just fix this problem. But actually achieving this end result will cost alot. Starting with researching the Technology itself. Then you have to pay for it to be made and tested etc which would highly likely take ALOT of time. Looking for a lifelike fix isnt going to be cheap or fast. everyone has coomplained about the wait for this game but you want features that would have throw it even further down the line if you want more stuff to do/use or even crash into

The Red Bull driving simulator S.Vettel or Mark Webber use for training is life like but costs over so many millions with just the technology nothing else.
