Well, my experience from other games tells me that these beasts are lightning quick in long straights, easily reaching 200 km/h, but in DiRT 3 I find them a bit slow. I don't find much difference between the WRCs, the Open Class cars, and even the S2000s with the Group B cars in terms of acceleration and top speed, contrary to what, for example, the Abarth Grande Punto's (S2000) 280 bhp and 1200 kg and the Delta S4's (Group B) 450 bhp and 850 kg would suggest.

So what do you think, is it only me, or do you think Group B cars should be wilder? :)

Well I dont know about that but they sure do seem to brake very well for cars with 20 years (too well if you ask me)

In my opinion every since Colin McRae DiRT, all cars have braked too well, especially in dirt/mud or snow/ice conditions, so that isn't exclusive to Gr. B cars.

Have to agree to the posts above. They brake too well and somehow the group B monsters just don't feel right.

Remember Walter Röhrl talking about the Audi S1? He claimed that anybody who drives that car and starts to think about cornering speeds and breaking points is WAY behind the car itself. Cause its simply too fast and agressive to leave any room for considerations like that. He also claimed that those kind of drivers might be driven to death by their cars. And after seeing some horrible scenes nobody should be too surprised to see the whole group B locked up.

In this game there is actually no car that can bring that feeling up to me. I like most of them. Easy way cause for me they all feel too close to each other. And somehow too smooth and tamed.

That's exactly the point. I've always read that the Delta S4 was almost impossible to drive at full throttle because it would just keep accelerating like a beast.... and nothing of that happens in DiRT 3 :(
Even in GT5 you can experience a more authentic Gr. B expecience, those cars accelerate from 0 to 200 kp/h in about 10 seconds, which is comparable to an Enzo Ferrari or a Lambo Murciélago. Sadly, in DiRT 3, you need a huge straight to get remotely close to those 200 km/h.

I don't know if Codemasters deliberately tamed Gr. B cars, or it's just a glitch that should be fixed via a patch, but it would be awesome to have a more realistic experience with these cars.

They seem fast enough to me. Especially in Finland with the fast sections they can be very hard to control. I recently purchased the 205 T16 which is a lot of fun 👍

I noticed this too. Wasn't to happy when I drove one of them. It felt too easy. It was just like a faster 90s class car. Also I drive without ABS and stability control so I don't know much on braking.

The only times I find the Group B cars uncontrollable is when I either drive 60s cars first, or go back to DiRT 3 after a month. :p

I would say that the Group B cars are the hardest to control in the game (for me) but it's not because they're overpowered; they're just a bit more loose in the rear and harder to correct when they slide. I usually increase the downforce to compensate (which certainly makes them seem even less the prototypical Group B type).

That is sadly true. There is almost no difference between the five 4WD classes (Open, Pro, S2000, 90s and Gr. B).
I still enjoy the game anyway, it's just the little details, or not that little ones, that flaw this game.

The group B cars just lack that push back to your face torque in this game. It's supposed to go 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, but it doesn't seem to do so.

Well that and the grip is just too much. Shame though, they did make Trailblazer cars fast enough however. So I guess that was okay.

I feel as these cars should "feel" faster and also have more torque steer.

I agree with Crisp, they are not as fast in comparison as they should be. They are in some respects too easy to control, when you consider what they are.

They are waaaaaaay to slow, I think that in dirt 4, they should make the Group B cars handle the exact same as the hill climbers, just slightly slower, and its pretty much the same with the hill climbers, they feel slow when compared to footage of real hillclimbers!

Of all the Group B cars, the Delta S4 seems most like how the group was described. the Quattro is easy to control and fast (the reason that most people use them online), the Metro is the best handling, but beaten out by the field in a straight line, the RS200 is powerful, but when I use it the car would rather not turn at all or spin out, and the Delta beats them all by being fast, finnicky, sharp, and most of all fun.

I have the PS3 version and play with a controller, and I think part of the problem is simply that we are not physically driving the cars. As was stated earlier, for thirty-years-plus machines, by the laptimes I've accumulated, they are still brutally fast. But because we cannot strap in and drive them the sense of excitement and terror just isn't there.

Think about it this way. Think about your favorite racing series. Now compare watching it on TV and being at the event, and for those who can, compare actually driving those machines to simply watching them. I have driven a NASCAR Cup car (retired RCR), and even since just going to the nearest track for the first time, I cannot get as excited about watching a race on TV.

Yes unlike GT5 I can barely differentiate most cars in DIRT 3. They pretty much feel all the same, expect 60s, 70s, because they are noticable slower in general.

The Group B cars were a bit of a disappointment for me as they feel nearly identical to the open rally class. I was looking forward to hurling these monsters around as I got this game for Christmas. In Dirt 3 it doesn’t really reflect the dangerous reputation the Group B era was given in my opinion.

Most uncontrollable? What about the Pikes Peak cars? Under Trailblazer.

Actually even the Pikes Peak hill climb cars in real life would be domestic animals compared to the original untamed beast that made up the Group B cars. There is a reason the FIA banned them in 1986 and haven't even though of bringing back the class.

Sorry but no. While group B cars were indeed wild (I had the privilege of seeing them in the day and quite often since) they are still not the same as the unlimited class Pikes Peak cars. One rather good reminder of that would be the number of Group B cars that were turned into unlimited class PP cars, and they didn't downgrade them to do it. They ran around 450bhp in Grp B trim and I've stood next a PP RS200 that was running 820bhp
