Are People Still Modding Cars?

By that logic, Lotus shouldn't help Hennessey make the Venom, Toyota shouldn't make engines for Lotus and Subaru wouldn't engineer an entire car for Toyota. It simply doesn't work that way. There is no legal trouble from giving a virtual car a different set of parameters.

Thats ridiculous. Ferrari have never helped Nissan as far as I know, so if somebody dropped an F40 engine into a GT-R, Ferrari could get mad.

I remember an older top gear episode where they had a Toyota MR-2 that had been made to look like ferrari. Jeremy then said that "Ferrari were more than likely to come after the man who made it for copying their car."

Now you tell me that there's no legal implications of messing around with cars. I'm sure PD are in some parameters when it comes to how cars can be modified in-game.

Hacking is hacking.

By your logic I should be able to pull my Danver Bass Cruiser out of Ridge Racer and run it in GT5.
This too. +1

Back on topic. If someone is using Racing Super Softs how do they show up in an online room? I'm specifically talking about Nascar if that matters. There is a rumor that they show as Racing Hards.

Edit: Also, do any of the hidden parts work on Nascars? Like the super soft tires, stage 4 turbos, weight reductions, etc.

Ironic how you say "back on topic" and then the rest of your post is just as off topic as the last few.

The actual question was whether or not modding is still going on or not, which it definitely is (in a more limited way.)

Debating hacking vs. hybriding and whether it's legal or not is about as off topic as asking questions on how modding affects NASCARS.

I'm sorry, I don't wanna sound like a jerk (I know I do though, apologies). It's just that if you say you're getting back on topic, make sure you're truly getting back on topic. 👍

Not sure if this is technically true, considering the various cases of Chevrolet engines put in Mustangs and RX-7s. Considering that GM is actually in close competition with Ford Motor Co. and Mazda, unlike Ferrari and Nissan which until recently didn't share a single market segment, you'd think if there were some legal barrier to cross-manufacturer swaps, it would be common knowledge by know.

Not that that has any bearing on what PD is allowed to allow in GT, but still.

Another hybriding thread..

You people complain about what PD took out but you never consider why.

PD never had a reason to care if you gave your car 1,000,000 HP.

They only took out actual 'hybriding' where you make swaps.

Considering that, I'd say it was most likely to keep them from being in any sort of legal trouble, despite everything just being digital and not actual manufacturer parts.

It's also most likely the reason Forza only allows swaps from the same manufacturer.

If PD were able to stop the true 'hybriding,' I'm pretty confident they would've been able to stop the true 'hacking'.

They only took out what they had to to try and keep as many people happy as possible.

But you people ignore thinking about any of those possibilities and instead to say hateful things about how they ruined their game and how they know nothing.

We get it, we've been hearing it for months now. Can we please let this hybriding debate go?

Sorry, but I'm not buying this. It doesn't matter if you were doing cross-manufacturer swaps or giving your car insane HP, in the end, both fall under unauthorized editing of the save file, which is against TOS. So it's a little strange how PD is being inconsistent. And another thing that's funny, you can still hex edit to use DLC paint for FREE, even in 2.12. If PD really knows what they're doing, why are they still letting people steal DLC from them?

It's not just the paint DLC you can easily steal. You can edit your save where the DLC purchases are stored so you can re-activate DLC and receive it again (paint pack for example), haven't tried to add DLC as I bought almost everything already anyway.

Also think of all the never-offered-for-purchase DLC, Stealth cars used to be exclusives people paid a lot more money for at the game's launch, now they are free and just a couple clicks on your PC away. I'm fairly confident PD won't be able to help this situation with GT6 either, once the decryption keys for the save are found people will attempt modding. I'll do it myself if customization isn't improved. PD doesn't seem to be able to prevent modding, but they can't make up for it either. If I could put off the wing of my LP670-4 SV, make my Mustang GT have a proper automatic like the SL55 and fix the stupid generetic sound of my IS F by giving it the LFA V10 sound/engine, I wouldn't bother to mod my save.

And just as a disclamer, I'm not implying I use my mods in online modes and I'm not saying I mod on my main account.

Yes, the topic is "Are People Still Modding Cars" and my questions very much relate to that topic. If they are still being modded, how can I detect them? That seems like a logical question to ask in this topic. Lord knows if I started a new thread I would get chastised.

I actually knew cars are still being modded. My friends changed the color of their Nascar rims. Another friend sent me 4 hidden parts. I just want to know how to detect the modders that use the mods to their advantage online. I could care less about the who's right and who's wrong debate that has been played out hundreds of times.

You people forget its a game....... take GTA for example, many people have converted cars from forza and GT into GTA. Im sure the manufactures/game makers arent pissed off as its a game. If you goto a car show and see a V8 in a japanese car the manufactures arent going to come down and close the show....... In the real world people are constantly using mixed car parts, so really that has nothing to do with it. It all comes down to GT6....... If they didnt fix the issue in GT5 everyone would carry on playing GT5 and not buy GT6.... think about it people, all these companys care about is maximising profits.

There were many, many Pontiac Fiero kits that made them look like Ferrari's and there was nothing illegal about it. They didn't infringe any patents, nor were they being sold under the impression they were actual Ferraris.
I should be able to drop whatever engine into whatever car I please. You, nor Chevy, nor Ford, nor anyone can tell me that I cannot purchase any engine I desire and drop into whatever car I desire. If I want to drop an LS1 into my E46, I will. If I want to do extensive bodywork to make my Integra look like a Ferrari, or Bill Murray, I'm going to. And if I want to paint my entire life in Chameleon Orange, I'm going to. The game should be no different.
