In the interest of sidestepping this GT-R vs. Corvette nonsense, I think we should acknowledge that both cars have a long racing pedigree with several wins in several different international races.
This is true. The GTR is japans corvette!

I can't believe PD didn't put the Z-tuned GTR in this game. That and the Mugen RR's were some of the cars that I was really looking forward to playing.

From a retail consumer perspective the Nismo 350z (2003) S-tune is simply a 350z with decals, ground and spoiler package, a Nismo intake and exhaust... BUT ironicly these parts don't come installed on the car, you get a discount for them... The mechanical parts that is.

Z Tune is a term used for a further souped up 350 Model... I'm not sure of the criteria that makes it a "Z Tune" but its a common moniker for a heavily souped up yet still street legal 350 using Nismo parts... And not just a street racer, but a track car that still streat legal...

Thats as far as my knowledge and memory goes unfortunately as I had kids instead of turning it into a track car, the whole reason I bought it... And to this day it sits in my Garage with 06 California tags... never registered since... I've taken it to Austin when I moved there, then to Vancouver, and now to San Fran at the end of the month... but I plan to drive it again there... But now it's sitting there with only 13K on the ODO and not sure if it will even start without some serious TLC...

Kids tend to change things a bit :) the wife HATES it... but I'll never be able to justify a 2 seater for about 16 more years...

Oh, and BTW, there IS a Z-Tune 350z in the game... I have it Favorited in my profile and "shared"... it's a GREAT drive... I was blown away as it was one of the first standard cars I bought in GT5... it looks just like the S Tune but has "grills" or gill like vents along both sides of the hood...

So this begs the question then, is Nismo dead as a real tuner company or have Nissan bled them dry by not making many tunable cars like 200sx, skyline which came at an affordable price but could be scaled right up to racing spec with packages like the chassis and engines above?

Kind of like how TRD must be twiddling their thumbs with Toyota utterly lame line up for the last ten years too?

The Nismo cars are very real. I own an S-tune in RL.

I picked up the Z-Tune in game and was really impressed with it... one of the better cars without any mods or tuning... fast as hell...

NICE! 👍

My previous car was an R32 Nismo Edition. I know one guy here in Toronto who has a genuine S-Tune also. Us Canadians luck out when it comes to importing these things. hehe

Japan corvette shuld be the Supra :) not the GTR

not really, as much as I love the Supra and GT-R's; the NSX was obviously the most advanced japanese sportscar when they still had the 280 hp limit. It also performed best on the track out of the three.. by far. Check http://fastestlaps.com/cars/honda_nsx-r.html to see the NSX-R kicking serious ass and competing with Porsche Turbos and GT3's.

I'm happy that they finally decided to scrap this 280 hp limit nonsense though so we're seeing some true sportscars now like the GT-R and LFA.
Looking forward to the HSV that will be coming out next year.

I actually picked mine up in San Diego :) But I have been living in Canada for the past 2 years and your right, there aren't nearly as strict on imports here... I think its because there isn't a GM here... Any US importer will tell you the length GM has gone to stop imports to the states...

Back in the 90s and early 2000's there was nothing that could compete with Japanese sports cars and they cost 50% less... This is still true today with the new GT-R Though I think Nissan is taking a loss on the car just to keep it affordable and FINALLY get it into the US market... 80k today is about equivalent to 40-50k in the 90's? But I guess that would mean that Vetts have gotten cheaper too... or I'm just getting older...

There are SO many cool cars here, I knew a bunch of NFS (EA Employees) guys here in BC and between them you can see nearly every Skyline model ever made... and a few other gems like old RX-7's and Aston Matins...

That's assuming they could. I mean, obviously they could if they really had to, but otherwise I doubt Nissan would have the capability at this point to do so. Even making the Z-Tune Nissan had to do things not typically done with in-house tuned cars because they didn't have the ability to do things the normal way.

"Nismo" is really no different than TDR, Audi Plus/Top Service, Mazda Speed, AMG, or any other manufactures advanced tunning group... They can go without funds one year and get a boost the next but the names will never go away... Some are even secret or have spun off into independent operations like Sauber and Williams, etc.

With the release of the V-spec GTR you can be sure the Nismo is next... its just that they are probably all dedicated to the GTR now and awaiting the results of the past few years of Racing results to design and release commercial bolt on performance products...

On a strait line yea on circuit, touge i dont tink so vettes are only go to go fast on only one direction cus is sad seen a old ea86 beating the hell of of a vette in drifting but is true muajaja SON.

You're adorable. All I have to say is someone hasn't been keeping up on their cars ;P

I'm pretty sure the GT-R has the record right now, but it was a pretty big deal how the ZR1 was schooling the GT-R around the Nurburgring a while back. These machines are definitely in the same league.

It might be true but u see the zr1 is more like a tuned vertion i wish to see the zr1 vs the Amuse Phantom R or the M.C.R R35 "and no mcr is not my chemical romances" i know the zr1 have potencial it dose come whit a supercherger in it yes it will be fast but real i will pick the Amuse Phantom R over a ZR1 and Hideki Tanabe legacy will go on Amuse Power house
Skyline gt-r o9-7:26.7
ZR1-7:26.4
Acr viper-7:22 fastes production car time in nurburgrind and i dont keep track of the cars...

I'm very surprised myself. Kaz. is a big Skyline fan, so I can't believe he didn't get one of the most well known ones.

Except the NSX was already labeled the "Ferrari of Japan" when the car made quick work of the 348.

They scrapped it when they were in place; they just never told anyone. ;)

Nismo is very much alive & well. Their last mainstream car is the 370Z Nismo, but they continue to offer parts for it & other cars.

I was wondering the same for example the M.C.R r34 or even the Amuse Phantom GT-R they are bouts great cars cus i wuld love to drive that Phantom GT-R on the Green Hell :)

Nismo does make a lot of obscure models that may not make it to mainstream US and European markets. On the other hand, there are a lot of dealership specials that are based on the Nismo catalog which are a reality in the US.

For years Nismo has offered in the US an S-Tune (Street Tune Line) and R-Tune (Racing Tune Line) series of car parts for most of its performance models especially Zs, 240SXs, Sentras, Frontiers and Titans. My S14 for example had some R-Tune suspension components I upgraded buying parts from the Nismo catalog at the dealer. You could buy cars that each dealership upgraded with Nismo parts based on whatever they thought they could sell.

In Japan on the other hand they had special dealerships that sold certain vehicle lines (I think they called them the Red Line and Blue Line) of vehicles that included Nismo models or other worked up models they put together with Nismo and or Autech parts.

I just got a R Tune from the Used car dealership, They go for around $125k and are only red.

As for real life, I think you could take one to it's Oman Factory and they'd outfit it for you.
