I searched and came up wit threds that were over 2 years old and didnt want to a major thred bumb

When I first saw the BMW 120d I though "hey, I could use this in an enduro race since ts a deisel" well the car makes good enough torque, and I was wondering if there are any more deisels in the game besides this one?

Sadly, that's the only one :(

Hopefully next time round they'll include a few more - I'd love to take my real life 2.0 TDI Golf round the Nurburgring, and the Audi R10 would be interesting too ;), along with a lot of the other performance diesels that are cropping up now. Fingers crossed :)

I'm surprised none of the older diesel Volvos are in the game.

I'm very glad none of the older diesel Vulvas are in the game! Imagine how awful they would be!:yuck:

And how come you're surprised??? Who on earth would want to drive a shagged out ill-handling dog slow old barge like that???

Well, they can't possibly be worse than the 240GL Estate, aka "the Brick":yuck:.

And I'm surprised, because a lot of the cars Volvo has made came with a diesel option, and are some of the most common diesel cars on the road. The daily driver aspect would seem to make them prime candidates for GT.

And "Vulvas" aren't cars...

Also if trucks were to make it in the next Gran Turismo, we'd have some nice torque monsters. :)

I hate deseals... :yuck: My grandpa got ashma thanks to a ****ing deseal engine. And they smell like ****

It is precisely this uneducated impression of the diesel that prevents them from becoming popular at all in the usa.

even worse, they sound like ****

The swear filter exists for a reason guys, and its not to get you to try and think up ways around it.

Please stop doing so, further offences will start to count against you, do not make me have to tell you rather than ask you.

I dont see what all of the dispute is about deisels:confused:

On a side note, I can go 18 laps(9 laps when my tires gave out and I had a half of tank left) on the ring. I started the 24 race for about 2 hours and I got lapped twice by the chaperal( not the fridge looking one, the other one) He was pulling high 6 minute laps as apposed to my mid 8 min; 7'38.XXX was my fastest. This thing is GREAT on fuel, just find some tires to keep up with it and you will neve have to pit in!!Well at least a lot longer than other cars...

I have to agree, I live in the US and worked on diesel vehicles for about 3 years and i must say they are hated for no reason, as a matter of fact i am looking into a VW TDI for my next vehicle, but if people whould rather drive less reliable, less efficient, and more complex cars with lower resale values then by all means knock yourself out

There's so many diesil cars around now it would be stupid not for more to be in. Even if it's just for the PAL version.

After all, everyone needs lorries and trains.

PERFECT BALANCE
I always though the Dodge Ram was a diesel

Nope, not the one in GT4. Hemis are gas engines. The Cummins is their diesel engine.

and what a diesel it is, before they came out with the quieter newer ones you could hear the old cummins turbodiesels from about a mile away

Yep! the 5.9L is probably one of the most reconizebel engines out there. Eve since they made it quietter, They have sem to lost the "special-ness". For a while dodge had one of the most torque producing engines on the market.

That's only partially true. It's being strongly reinforced by the noisy, smelly, unworthy diesel trucks sold by American manufacturers. Ironically, that same short list of cars is where diesel may make its proper market entrance. The truck market is flooded with ways to make your Ford/Chevy/whatever turbo-diesel pickup put down more than 600HP. Gotta start somewhere....

Back on topic: Wouldn't old Mercedes 300D's be great? They'd last forever, and you can just about get away without changing the oil. ;)

They're hated here for the diesel fuels back in the '70s and the '80s - and the notorious Oldsmobile 350 gas V8-turned-diesel. Waterly fuel, poor fuel management, and the bad-from-beginning engine is what most Americans remember. Think about it, it's like putting in a half water diesel into your gas engine and expecting it to run properly...

I find it pretty rediculous that the 120d has no fuel mileage advantage over the 120i, so I usually just use the 120i because it weighs less and handles a little better because of it.
Edit: I know of one more diesel and possibly a second:
Mazda Kusabi (definately) and VW Lupo 1.4 (?)

Well said, my daily car is a diesel 306, 98 model, doesn't sound great but it's not unbearable, or close to and anyway it's only a runabout, but it runs great. There's not much wrong with diesels, and more modern ones arn't anytihng like as bad noise wise as the older ones.

Toronado
Mazda Kusabi (definately)
In real life it was. In GT4, it isn't.

Real life Kusabi
Power 110 bhp / 82 KW @ 4000 rpm
Torque 240 Nm / 177 ft lbs @ 1750 rpm

GT4 Kusabi
Power 147bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque 132 ft lbs @ 3500 rpm

Those aren't figures of a diesel.

I never would've suspected that the little Kusabi was a diesel in real life, but that just shows that diesels have changed their image. Example: Audi R10 wins Le Mans in its first entry...:)
