I am.

Let me explain; whilst driving my 'real' car I've been really listening to what sounds and vibrations etc you get from the car's wheels, steering wheel etc.

One of the biggest difference in sound and feel is when you drive over a puddle or any type of standing water, you can hear the difference in sound as the water sprays up into the wheel arch and if its a real big deep puddle you can actually feel it tug on the steering wheel either to the left or the right depending on the which side of your car enters the water.

Also when you go over pot holes and you can here the vibration shudder through the car.

I'm hoping that we will get these same type of effects in the game it would certainaly bring the car to life..

Can you imagine racing along a country lane type road at night - lights blazing in a Subaru Impreza and you can feel the cars wheel tug as you go through a muddy puddle causing all dirty water to splash up over the windscreen and you having to turn on the windscreen wipers to clear it.

Then the icing on the cake because its really muddy it leaves a smearing mud mark over your windscreen so you can press another button for the windscreen washer jets to kick into action and clean the rest of the mud off - how cool would that be?

Also wouldn't be a good idea if they had 4x4's in the game so if you wanted a rest from screaming around a race track you can jump into your Range Rover and traverse some 4x4 courses.

Rivers in deepest Wales, a sand dune in the sahara etc where you have to use the low range of gears etc and when you drive through rivers you have to keep the momentum up so you keep up with that little tidal wave in from of the vehicle (whats it called again?).

They could have white van man racing with a load of Ford Transits etc racing around the track and everytime you go araound a corner you can hear all the goods in the back slide around and bashing against the inside of the van.

Nice.

Codemasters always did a good job with TOCA & CMR regarding external sound effects such as gravel hitting the underside of the car - never understood why so many including PD seem to overlook it (and they had reverse lights!).

What you are saying is far beyond what they will be implementing in GT5. Just look at PD track record of GT games, always had something awesome they were going to implement and never did. I would not be expect car damage if I were you.

I think youre looking for a different game... the Off Road Real World simulator or something.... I dont think anything of that sort will get into GT5... the focus is on racing here, not windshield wipers and mud flying everywhere...

Motorstorm. 👍 Havent tried the game with Steering Wheel, but you do drive through muddy pools, and also when a car is infront of you the mud does kick up onto your screen. But the problem is I dont think it has inside view. But come on let's be realistic, for god sake. Are you really going to drive down country lane in Gran Turismo ?

Exactly! Thats what I was trying to think of.. lol... Pacific Rift is the new one... Yeah that pretty much fits crastes description... :)

Agreed, this sounds like a rally game not GT, where the focus is street and circuit racing.

I Want Reverse lights, how hard can it be to put them on...

I dont know so much about the offroading but the point-to-point pubblic roads to drive and enjoy would be awesome, like the mountains around Tsukuba or the InitialD mountains (which i can remember what they are called).... and be able to take amazing photos and stuff... i would love it..
I hope they put the Gunsai Touge track in, that would be amazing....

I wish they'd put a real point to point road course in GT5.

Driving Hwy 7 across Ontario would just be unbelievable.

Good ol' wishes.

I agree that GT5P locks way much with sound.. but at the same time its not even a FULL version.. There is no reson they should spend 100000 hours on SOUND just for PROLOGE.. I know then they could just copy the sounds to FULL game.. but it still a DEMO.

have you guys ever raced a car? at 8-9k rpms with a helmet on you can only hear the engine and tires howling you cannot really hear any of the other ambient noise.

I use a course in New york and also autocross quite a bit

sounds ridiculous to me! of all of Ontario you choose hwy 7, lol.
i'm sorry but what is so special about hwy 7? If you want a point to point race in Ontario, i would have to vote 'Forks of the Credit' in Missisauga, or even better is to do a South to North run, maybe hwy 11 or somthing that can take you to James Bay.

Now if they added Mosport International Raceway (former F1 track) with all the elevation changes and blind corners, that would make my day!!! I woild even settle for 'Track du Gilles Villeneuve' in Montréal. It would be SWEET to have any track from Canada!
...but ain't gonna happen, evaaar!

Mosport would be so awesome to have in gt5. But I would disagree about the forks. They killed that road with the recent resufracing etc. That and the fact you had to rip it at like 3am to avoid tourists.

i can hear my tires splitting the water (when raining) as well as rocks and gravel kicking off, but my car (04STi) has ZERO sound proofing, doors panels removed, aluminum bonnet and carbon fibre front fenders and boot... but you are right, you hardly hear anything but the engine and squawkin' tires!!:sly:

BTW NICE CLEAN RIDE!!!

Thank you,

Mine is stripped also but i am sure my engine/exhaust is way louder then yours. Turbo will act as a muffler and make even a 3 inch with no resignators would be quiter. but you are correct you can hear a little bit but i think what you hear it the game if fine exept the figgin BGM i have yet to find out how to shut it off even if i can

The first option I change is AT-MT then i turn the BGM off and max out the "other" sounds (not sure what they call the "other" sounds, I have the Japanese version) I had to played around with it to figure out each one, I turn BGM off in almost all games i play, especially Racing & Sport games.

Honda's are crazy loud! my bud has a '02 S2000~supercharged, it's unbelievable how loud it is. STi's can be loud too, another bud has an '05 w/built motor, gt35r (+other supporting mods to DESTROY almost anything that try's, 410AWHP/440AWTQ) the thing sounds AWESOME like a jet on take off!!!
i would post some pics but my CPU died, now using my PS3 to browse...

I hate BGM in races too, it just gets in the way. I can live with it in replays, but have it turned down to 60 so it doesn't spoil the car noise.

You'll find the option in Options > Hardware > Audio. You have to scroll right when you get to hardware options, it's not obvious there are more options to the right of the controller settings, but Audio and Display options are hiding just off screen.

I sure hope there's rain and you need to use your windshield wipers. God, PD, look at GTR2.

I did just the same: 0 BGM when racing, 40 for replay. I prefer listening to engine and road noise IRL too. Hardly ever have radio/stereo on...
