I do love the SYNC system in my Escape. Especially the turn by turn navigation that has bailed me out many times. The Bluetooth is great, I am able to control my smartphone and my ipod through voice commands.

I avoided the MFT and the touch screen, I wanted regular radio/a/c buttons & dials. I have rented newer Fords & other cars with touchscreens though and didn't find them to be that bad.

Infotainment isn't the problem, the problem is that the systems that OEM's staple to their cars suck. Personally I'm driven nuts by not being able to input GPS directions or change Bluetooth devices while the car is moving. There's a passenger seat for a reason, Ford!

A Nexus tablet mounted into the dash is usually better at being an infotainment system than the stuff in cars.
I really can't wait until that starts to become a thing. It just seems so silly that these manufacturers are spending all this time and money to peddle awful proprietary systems when Google could make something better with ease.

Simple answer: No.

Long answer: While many of them are convenient, I believe there comes a point where everything becomes too complex and overwhelming. I enjoy simple cars where everything's at the basic minimum. Sure a lot of it all is nice, but there is absolutely no need. I get along fine with a tape deck and 5+ FM radio stations.

My first car didn't even have an FM radio...just AM only with 5 or 6 mechanical push button presets. It didn't have a passenger side mirror either, it was an option.

All I really want today is a decent stereo with a USB or aux input and a hands free Bluetooth phone link system to avoid fines. The rest of the social media nonsense in cars is unessesary, I can wait till I get home. I always got into my car for a long drive after work to get away from things.
