I am really enjoying this game, just traded a W12 for a 2007 Ferrari, found a GT-One in the UCD, things are going great, got a DFGT, wife is complaining that im obsessed. Going through the specials to get gold's but that damn Top Gear Challange is annoying as hell.

I have been an avid watcher of Top Gear for a long time, to me the first and third challanges don't fit into their style of show. They do touch on classic cars often, but they dont touch on slow boring races. Maybe if we was driving against 12 AI caravans in a destruction derby style race...

Anyway, I have golded the first one, Third one I have silvered, I think I can gold it pretty easy if I can avoid those dumb cars who like to smack me off the track :grumpy:

But that second one :scared::scared::crazy:?? Surely there is a joke somewhere, I got bronze after bout 30 attempts, but I was way off first. Is their a secret to this task that I am missing ?

P.s. i cant find a search feature or anything else bout this task ! (sorry!)

the lotus challenge is about late breaking, ull find that the ai breaks very early... also the first corner is the most important... there are plenty of videos on youtube to save me posting mine.

it takes time to learn how twitchy the car is, i used tc 1 abs 1 during this race.

Just make sure to only brake/accelerate in a straight line.
There is about 47 minutes you can make up on the 2nd to last corner by not braking like a mug, like the AI do.

smooth is the key! i found all the challenges to be fairly easy actually.

SRF and Traction Control will do that. ;)

Don't separate yourself from the good drivers and bad drivers. lol Steady hands and analyse the cars' handling. TCS 1 ABS 5 try it, you can do it.

You say thats anoying, because you didn't reached the Vettel Challenge :yuck:  :scared:  :ouch:

here is the #1 trick to completing the top gear challenge with the lotus. and the trick is.... learn how to drive

i find abs 1 perfect anything above 5 and i think the car doesnt pull up as quick with twitchy cars i use 3.

After plenty of swearing I did it.Keep in mind the car is on comfort hard tyres so you have to slow down your throttle imputs alot and correct slides as soon as you feel it through the steering.Did around 5 attempts, all except ABS off :D

Someone always has to be "thay guy" it seems. Give the OP a break. That Lotus challenge is a ridiculously unrealistic challenge with completely messed up unnatural physics.

It is not fun, not realistic and has nothing to do with proper driving. It's just PD making things frustrating simply for the sake of difficulty. 👎

Just for everyone's info, I did it with ABS1 and ASM ON.

Was easy and done it frirst attempt

It can be done first attempt IF the AI play fairly. They either swerve into you or if you pass them cleanly (on track, without touching) you sometimes get disqualified:grumpy:.Ironically though sometimes if you do hit them you don't get disqualified...whatever,it's difficult because the DQ system is 👎 and the elise is on budget tyres :p so the handling 'woes' some feel are expected..

It's not that unrealistic? I mean if you look at the facts: short wheelbase, light as a feather, quite the HP creating a fairly high power to weight ratio. So the rear breaking out constantly doesn't really surprise me to be honest.

They should probably allow collision/corner cutting...look at series 16.

This was one of the most frustrating challenges I came across in the game, took me about 40 tries to gold it. Once you do find that perfect line to drive it's actually fairly easy.

And indeed, as said before, use SFR and TC for smoother driving.

Practice drifting and you'll love this challenge. ;) It was one of my favorites because of sliding around the AI in some of the turns and passing them. :)

It does surprise me if it happens when going barely 40km/h in a straight line while braking carefully. On ice? Maybe. On tarmac? No.

The Elise slips so much that's stupid

I just wanna say, not all Americans are dumba@@es but there are a lot of them here

I know he was just making fun of that one guy, I just wanted to say that not all of us are idiotic a$$h^les 👍

I see:) I reckon if a country can make stuff as great as the viper, vette and mustang there is no doubt there are indeed good people there.

I will keep trying! What annoys me so much is the AI dont seem to have the handling problems i have even if i go same speed and break at same points as them.

It isnt so much that it is difficult, it just seems so out of context for its level, it should be a much higher challange, i got bronze last night before i gave up and went and did the vettel challange, piece of cake in comparison ! least I feel like i have a chance!

And as for the guy who said learn to drive, thank you for your awesome input, i would respond more, but I am going to work now, going to go downstairs and go and put on my playstation, turn my GTDF and go round imaginary corners at 40/50/60/70 mph in my lotus elise with rubber bands for tires.. oh wait.. that wont get me to work.. because i am not really driving.. doh !

The top gear challenges are a PITA (I'm a huge fan of TOP GEAR UK), like other people said the key is to brake late and with the lotus brake only when going straight. when you start the lotus race when you take that first right bend then right before the left bend that's before the left turn take some speed off so you don't lose control. Also for the other cars where you hit their top speed figure out the highest speed the car can go before it hits the limiter and let off the throttle a little so you hoover around that speed and don't hit limiter. You do all the things I said you will win (it will still take a few times)

I finally managed to gold the Lotus race after many attempts. The keys for me were late braking to overtake and very careful throttle control coming out of corners. I did most of my passing in the first four turns. ASM and a little TCS helps quite a bit as well. Oh, one thing that helped me with this was learning how to drive the '74 Countach well enough to win the Historic Cup in A-spec. It has pretty bad oversteer under acceleration as well, and you learn how to come out of corners as straight as possible to avoid spinning out.
