The Ariel Atom might lack in aesthetic appeal for the culturally inclined, but where lacks in sophisticated beauty, it more than makes up for with a driving experience unlike any other. Now, imagine if you have an Atom that’s more powerful than anything in its lineup outside of the Atom 500 .

This here is the Atom 3.5R (a faster and more powerful version of the Atom 3.5 ), and yes, that "R" attached to its name means an Atom that comes with a host of upgrades, visual and aerodynamic improvements, improved transmission and suspension setups, and of course a supercharger.

One of the most impressive qualities of the Atom is its weight, or lack thereof. Weighing just 553 kg, the Atom’s skeletal structure lends itself to the kind of unnerving performance that makes test driving the car tantamount to a near-death experience. It’s no wonder why those who have driven the Atom attest to its capabilities in contorting their faces into a unique combination of shapes.

As far as its mechanical upgrades go, well, the 3.5R is the closest thing to an apocalyptic ride as you can find. For one, its 2.0-litre iVTEC engine has been supercharged to develop 350 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque.

0-100 km/h time = 2.6 secs.
Top Speed = 250 km/h (eletronically limited).

Just for those that though the Atom 500 wasn't fast enough.

The only gripe I have is the 250 km/h "limited" top speed, I bet it can do 300+.

Of all the open wheel cars that could have been added along with the X-Bow and the Rocket, this isn't added. Why?
I agree.... Maybe it's not on sale in Japan? In the past PDI was more inclined to include models that were on sale in Japan - that's why Opel never got any of OPC models. Ariel is pretty small so I doubt they'd do computer modelling so no digital assets either... I could be wrong tho'

The Ariel Atom has appeared in the following games that I can think of at the moment: (bold means that the car will appear in the game)

Test Drive Unlimited 2
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)
Forza 4
Forza 5
Forza Horizon 2
Project CARS

The Atom appearing in Project Cars means that it's (obviously) not exclusive to Forza.

These are the only games I can think of at the moment that has the car.
