I've been posting this link to a few threads, but the word doesn't get out faster than a new thread with a name that just draws attention the the GT world. This video has had less than a thousand views since 2007, and is full of information on GT5. It consists of PD photographing many cars for possible in game use, and most notably, includes the Ariel Atom at 1:04. I'm not sure if this is really news to the community or not, but as far as I know, this is a find. Thanks to the poster of the video.

You may be on to something. Though, it would be cool and all, but it would probably be like the Caterham where no other car can really compare. A little boring but it might be fun. I guess with the upcoming DLC for who knows how long, the Ariel Atom is a possibility.

On the other hand. Looks like they're at a track, maybe they were walking around and saw some guy's Ariel Atom and said "I want pictures of that!" And there we go. May have nothing to do with GT in the first place.

All we can do, is speculate.

They're probably taking their precious time making the cockpit! Well, it seems they've at least looked/tested one, but that doesn't mean they have the license for it or a 100% desire for it. But I do believe it has a place in GT.

BS. Notice how on every test drive the suit & helmet colors change. There's only like 3 legit videos of Kaz in the whole video. Dream on, only time will tell.

Lol I had a dream like two days ago of driving one of these in gt5. I hope it's in the next dlc

did anybody notice the morgan areo supersport GT i think in the vid if its legit

Those are all clips from PD, yes (during various different game's builds). But, that doesn't necessarily mean the Atom will be in; they've captured plenty of cars in the past, but not everything makes it in due to various reasons. Sort of like GT3's one legitimate Porsche in the entire series - they may even get to modelling a car, but typically, something like licensing will stop it from being included in the final retail copy. In the case of that Porsche, it was only available with a Gameshark or similar device.

Not trying to argue, but notice that the suit and helmet colors change correspondingly to the color of the racecars. Why would Kaz and co. put on different suits every time they tested a car out?

Im sure PD has more than one test driver for the cars, and each test driver has their own racing suit.

Click each and every one and tell me the suit color schemes DON'T match the schemes on the cars. And why would PD get each one of their testers their own suit with it's own color scheme?

Umm...that's what I would do if I was testing cars. That way you could know who's driving by the color of their suit.

Also, there were several cars in that video that we've never seen in a GT game including a couple Morgans. The truth is, PD always tests more cars then they use. However, with DLC every other month, now, they might be able to toss in some of the cars they've tested but never made it into the released game.

Forgive me for a lack of proof, but I recall seeing an image of Yamauchi-san driving a Porsche GT3 that was identical to the one that appeared in GT3. I always assumed that they had modeled his car as either a gag or for his own personal use on other GT3 builds that ended up getting carried over to the final GT3 build, albeit in hidden code form.

PD has tested many cars before. Cars that never appeared. I remember reading an article in a magazine that was interviewing Kazunori about the development of GT4, and at one point he said he and his crew where working with Bentley to get all the details of the Continental GT, and that they just arrived from Germany from a recording session of the Rolls Royce Phantom engine sound... Cars that never appeared in GT4, GTPSP or GT5...

I know he owned (still owns?) a 996 GT3 mk1 (the car that appeared in GT3), but they did go through the extra effort of adding all the colours into the game. My memory's hazy, but I believe his was either yellow or red.

I assumed the same thing, that it was mostly for personal enjoyment, but it's definitely one of the more interesting secrets in the series.

ParkourVeyron - It's not a far-fetched idea to think that the test drivers aren't always Kaz & Co, especially that last link, as it looks more to me like the PD member is getting into the passenger seat. Nevermind that it's unlikely everyone at PD who does have a suit, would have the same one.

I see your point, makes some sense. But I have one more argument, if a video like this was made, why wouldn't it be released formally by PD?

Isn't this clip taken out of the GT4: Prologue bonus-DVD that was part of the GT4:P European Signature Edition?

If so, than it is made out of the footage filmed during 2000-2003 in preparations and testings for GT4 release, so although interesting, being almost a decade-old makes it very irrelevant content-wise on the grand scheme of current GT-series development process or ways how information are gathered and prepared for this and next generation of hardware.

I had a little conversation with Kazunori Yamauchi last year about the Ariel Atom. Whether or not the Atoms will be in GT5 or GT6 I can't answer, but it is a car in which he's interested and which he would like to be in the game.
