As for fonts - I find you can't fail with Helvetica Neue or Avant Garde. Very simple but timeless classics and if you alternate between the light and heavy weights of each, you get great results.

Plus, a visit to www.dafont.com would be good. Hope that's at least a bit of a help!

(much better than Comic Sans anyway!)
